Yes

it has always been so for a lot of years now.

we have usually not been making noise with tourism but most years we make more money from it than all those countries.
There is a reason why Accra was choked all throughout last year.

The power of marketing on the international media is Powerful.

kevomtaani:

Let me get this straight..you really believe Ghana earns more money in tourism than Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda? just be honest this are countries that have modeled their economies around tourism facilities that's why all this countries have more bed capacities than any other country in SSA excluding S.a. you want to tell me Ghana through one year of Marketing has exceeded all this countries decades of Marketing? I think after Jesus changing water to wine your tourism figures is the second most amazing miracle.

Well, is there any ''fit for all'' Urbanization plan?
Do the beautiful cities we have in Africa look alike?
Your idea of a beautiful city is ''High rise buildings'' and that's your ish.
I hope your bungalow in your rural area has enough electricity and water?

The 2nd Largest City in Ghana.
As I said earlier, Kenya has really done well in City Planning than Ghana but Ghanaian Cities have what it takes to host any African Program.
And that is what makes Ghanaian Cities unique. Every City in Ghana has all the basic social services.

Yours also could have been very beautiful if you discourage the use of containers, kiosk as use of shops on every nook and cranny of your cities and town. That container thingy is already a pandemic in Ghana.

that was kenhas report that only deals with kenya highways,
Five years ago, kenya was having 14,000km of tarred road.
By 2018, I guess we were at 18k of not 19.
We have done more km since then.

Kenya tarmacked 2,600 kilometres of roads in the two years to July 2015 taking its total length of bitumen surface roads to 13,900 kilometres.

Data in the Economic Survey 2016 shows that the bulk of these new roads are in cities and towns which have been recording a higher population growth compared to rural areas.

The length of the new roads translates to an average 1,300km per year but falls short of the Jubilee government’s target of over 3,000km annually announced two years ago.

“During the period under review, there was an increase of road under bitumen from 11,300 kilometres in 2013 to 13,900 thousand kilometres,” the Economic Survey 2016 says.

“The total kilometres of road under earth/gravel increased from 52,400 kilometres in 2013 to 65,600 kilometres in 2015 due to the adoption of the low volume sealed roads technology for road improvement and upgrading.”

Kenya has been devoting a substantial chunk of its budget to roads development since 2003 as it seeks to open up rural and far-flung areas, ease access to markets and reduce vehicular congestion in urban areas. As I quote.

In August 2014, President Uhuru announced an ambitious plan dubbed the Road Annuity Programme that was to see private capital utilised to build 10,000km in three years but the project has since stalled.

Over the two year period, the Economic Survey shows that 2,300km of urban roads were built, 300km of trunk and primary roads and 100km of secondary and minor roads.

Well individual difference.
Ghana got it wrong the moment we overthrown our first President Kwame Nkrumah.
He laid down the foundation which would have made Ghana self-sufficient and a developed country but hey! some people didn't like him.
Kwame Nkrumah left and everything about City planning got messed up.
He tried building a National Capital which is TEMA but after he left they dumped all his dreams and here we are with Container Kiosks and open drainage all over the place...

Kenya is indeed a Zoo, The Kenyan road network has 177,800 km of road, of which 63,757 are classified. Only 9,273 km are paved and just 70% of the classified roads are in good condition. This represents an increase of less than 20,000 km of classified roads and 8,000 km of paved roads since independence, while a tiny state in Nigeria ,Gombe state is constructing construction of 100 kilomtres of roads in each of the 11 LGAs of the state. totaling 1100KM in a year cool cool

Road projects executed and the ones being executed by the administration include the construction of 16km Malala - Zaune - Dukkuyel road in Dukku LGA, 15km Mararraba – Jabba – Sambo Daji – Pandi Kola – Gwarar – Garin Wada road in Akko LGA, 21km Degri - Bembelem - Reme - Dong - Talasse road in Balanga LGA, upgrading of 19km Gona - Garko - Gujuba - Kalshingi road with spur to Maidugu in Akko LGA and upgrading of 26km Billiri - Gujuba - Kamu - Awak road in Billiri LGA,
It is indeed forward looking that road projects inherited from the immediate past administration have also been continued and financed.

Such road projects are those of the 11.25KM network in Jekadafari North in Gombe LGA, construction of 11.50km Malam Inna - Kurba - Titi road with spur to Kundulum in Gombe, Y/Deba, Akko and Kwami LGA, 23.53km Gombe Township roads phase VI in Gombe LGA including Dawaki, Madaki, Bolari-East etc,30km Ladongor - Kwiba - Amtawalam - Pobawure - Sabon Layi - Ayaba road in Billiri LGA,15km Bambam - Tula – Yiri in Kaltungo LGA and the 9.50km Boltongo - Nono road with spur to Garin Malami in Y/Deba.
Others are 11.50km road taking off from Gombe/Potiskum Federal Highway - Gerkwami - Daniya road in Kwami LGA, 27km Dukku - Kalam - Dokoro – road in Dukku LGA, 36km Dukku - Dokoro - Jamari road in Dukku, 9km Bajoga Township road in Funakaye LGA, 9.10km Bambam - Nwona - Kutare - Yola road in Balanga LGA, 1.59km road network in Rice/Vegetable oil Industrial Cluster at Nasarawo in Gombe LGA, 13km Kumo - Kalshingi road in Akko LGA, rehabilitation of 42km Ngaji Bauchi - Baure - Zambuk - Lubo - Daban Fulani road in Kwami and Y/Deba, 9.9km dualization of the section of Bauchi Gombe Federal Highway Phase II (Tumfure International Conference Centre - New City Gate in Gombe and Akko LGAs to ease means of transportation and economic activities. To complement the essence of the huge investment on roads, the government also procured 50 brand new 18-seater buses for the Gombe State Transport Service ( Gombe Line).

Well they've tried but they could have done better.
Look at Tema of all places? No landscaping, no walk way at some areas, open drainage, at least some little beautification will do.
If you compare TDC to AMA you will think they've done well but compare them to Cape-Town and there you will see the difference.
