1Sharon:Must you believe anything you read! A doctor asking about sex positions by the way, some sexual styles could inflict injury,if a doctor is suspecting and unexplainable trauma,be can ask as most patients will hide any sexual history relating to their health untill you ask questions |
Re: Share Your Embarrassing Moments With The Doctor by Nobody: 8:47pm On Jun 04, 2020 |
1Sharon:Yes I was jeering cos he assumed no Dr had the right to ask a malaria patient about his or her sexual life and he was arrogant about it and abusing medical students. Now it is known that some women could be 2 or 3 months pregnant without realising it. Asking her that will probably get you the wrong answer. Like a girl who is 6 weeks pregnant might not even realise she has missed her period. Sometimes a period can be missed and still doesn't mean pregnancy. So strictly, medically speaking you can ask but there is a possibility of getting a wrong answer. The most appropriate thing to ask is her LMP. |

DominusPrime: As simple as when last was your mensuration an indicator of the possibility if she may be preg? Or just go straight to the point. ARE YOU PREGNANT! Anyway most doctors of today entered the medical school through the back door and got out through the window. There are ethics I hope you know. 6 Likes |

Mine was when I was younger. Class 4 boy or so. I was sick and since my mum happened to be a nurse I dnt get treated by two people than my mum even when we weren't sick, she will just tell us we've been opened to mosquito bite and bingo. Chloroquine injection will do the trick. talk more of when one of us was sick. that goes by me saying we hardly fall sick . I was in a military secondary school and feeling so sick. And I hated MRS since it makes you weak and lost it, so I waited till break. And I do stay with my mums friend who happened to be a nurse and work in shika zaria people go sabi am. Since my family was in south west and I school in zaria. my mum called her friend who happened to be a matron. They had conversations and next thing she came to pick me from school after we collect pass and drove me to her house. She had this daughter I was crushing on and they always tease me am the girls hubby which I do like in a way . Fast forward, na so she drive me go hospital and we see doctor. Bla bla bla I went for test and 2 hours later, doctor said some stuffs to her. Oboy I sha see the woman dey look me somehow and when we got home she wasnt so opened to me. Well like an hour later my mum called and was like I have STD. I dnt even know what STD means. The woman's hubby na pastor and a man I respect na so him call me where this my crush dey oo. Dey ask me question about my sex life. The girl dey look up etc. I sha was shocked coz I dnt even have any fantasy about sex at that age infact I never got to have sex till of recent (20s) and that's the first and last time since its not worth it to me. I told the man I dnt know what his talking about and am just feeling very sick and weak. Well he told me my diagnosis came out as STD and I really disappointed my mum and everyone. I just start dey shiver. The man was like he knows what it feels like to be in the military and he knows I will mix with diff kids. Well since I maintained my innocence mum came over 2 days later and her friend was like we should try a private hospital etc and see the depth of the STD. Na so we go all the way to kaduna from zaria enter one private hospital. I came out negative and tested high to typhoid and a serious case of malaria parasite. Infact the doctor advised I be placed under serious antibiotics drip asap. Mum hugged me and apologised for doubting my innocence and mums friend took the test back to shika to show that dicyir that misdiagnosed me. It was really embarrassing than I could write. 20 Likes |

1Sharon, I don't know if you are a medical doctor or not. If you are a doctor, I doubt you're practicing in Nigeria. Right from medschool, student doctors are taught how to "twist some questions..." This is just because of our environment. There are smokers that answer in the negative if asked directly whether they smoke. There are people that outrightly say they aren't sexually active even if they are. There are folks that gulp large quantities of alcohol but deny they drink when asked. This list is endless. So, overtime, Nigerian doctors have learnt how to be indirect in their questions. Recall, they go through all this stress FOR THE PATIENT'S BENEFIT, not theirs. It's painful when the outside world accuses MOST NIGERIAN DOCTORS that they're perverts. The sad truth is, doctors would gladly stay away from sex-related questions and examinations if there were alternatives! Doctors don't look forward to seeing a woman's privates. I assure you, most times, it's not funny what is seen down there. Some doctors are even embarrassed asking sex-related questions. See, doctors are doing these stuffs at their own inconvenience... Let's not propagate this misinformation to the general public. It's tiring reading all these attacks on doctors. 33 Likes 2 Shares |

JUICYPINEAPPLE:And do these ethics prevent you from asking a patient about her LMP? Or the ethics specify that you must only ask if she's pregnant or not? Don't imagine things and spew them out simply cos they feel right in your head. |

My own was when I went to a health center for my cervical screening in 2012.Meehn ! That procedure is very very invasive for a woman. When I got there , I met male and female Doctor .If she was a nurse I didn't know . I just observed that they both wore white coat . The most embarrassing moment was when I was ask to UnCloth ( though with a medical coat to cover me up) I was then made to open my legs apart like a pregnant woman that is about to give birth.Afterward, an instrument was inserted in my cervix to open me up ..Then the lady called on the male doctor to take the swap and probably assess my cervix . God I burning with shame and prayed for the whole process to be over as soon as possible . I was very uncomfortable and felt exposed . Though male the Doctor was professional but I didn't like the fact that he had to see me in that state. Naked and open. Ladies that have done cervical screening will know what I am talking about .Its very very embarrassing 8 Likes 1 Share |
