I feel like crying right now. The English teaching job market in vietnam Vietnam is massive right now. Just join any of the Facebook groups and you will see over 5 to 10 job vacancies posted daily. I admire @WhyNa who is there right now and which am there too. My prediction is that this will continue like that till around December because of no international movement. The teachers presenting in vietnam can't meet up with the job openings openings available. I learnt they will be opening up their borders by July ending but they might only those from countries with minimal or zero new cases. Make we dey pray dey hope oh. Yes the market favours the NATIVE ENGLISH SPEAKERS but sincerely there is also a market for us blacks. If we believe we can make it. @WhyNa, how far, how are you doing? Any update for the boys? @whyna do you plan on getting Vietnam permanent residence and how easy is it after getting a teaching job. Thank you |
Re: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by WhyNa: 6:04pm On Jun 04, 2020 |
hammed71: Permanent residence keh. Mbah nu. The goal is to eventually move....when depends on some factors. I'm more concerned about income VS cost of living You can apply for temporary residence. Even those who get married to their citizen don't get permanent residence like that. First, they give them a 5 year visa exempt or something of that nature 2 Likes 1 Share |

Re: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by azubix(m): 10:41pm On Jun 04, 2020 |
tensazangetsu20: From my research I think there are but I discovered they favour Vietnamese citizens and graduates of a Vietnamese university more. Also, the pay is low oh compared to teaching. For undergraduate internship position, you get about 200 to 400$, full time should be somewhere close for entry level oh. THese are information from FTP university. |
Re: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by tensazangetsu20(m): 10:51pm On Jun 04, 2020 |
azubix: They don't really teach programming in any university at a deep level. I see a lot of programming jobs with visa sponsorship to Vietnam but if the pay is so low then na one chance o |

Stumbled on this thread in the office, started reading and finally got to the last page. Whyna, kudos to you. You did a really good job. For those considering going to Vietnam to teach English, you can also look at other Asian countries like; Taiwan, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, etc. South Korea alone has about 3 government programs (EPIK, TALK, SMOE,etc) that recruit teachers from 7 specific countries, (unfortunately the only country in Africa they recruit from is South Africa). Not to be deterred though, Hagwons (Private schools) in SK sometimes work with agencies to recruit teachers. You can also try applying directly to them. Because Nigeria is not considered as a NESC, its advisable to have your TEFL or TESOL certificate before applying. You can also search for teaching jobs in SK on some websites like eslcafe.com, eslteachersboard.com. There are really good opportunities out there, especially for prospective teachers. So just do your research, reach out to agencies, start your TEFL certification, pray about it and hope for the best. 16 Likes 4 Shares |

Grrr8: Bro, 3k dollars will be very enough for that 6 months but my big fear is the posibility of getting a tourist visa as a Nigerian, bro i doubt if they still give tourist visa to Nigerians. The best option will be going through an agent of which you will need to be careful in looking for a reliable one. @WhyNa has written about this before so play your card well. I Am not in Vietnam but from my research expect something like This, so you will now need to look for where and how to cut your expenses. If you get accomodation of like $200×6=1,200 Feeding n utility per month $100x6=600 Flight $900 Total..........$2,700 Visa............xxxxx If you can get an apartment of 150 or even 100 dollar, good. @WhyNa should have more detailed info. My advice. Leave going to Vietnam for now, complete your NYSC and save more then just migrate fully to Vietnam or go to Vietnam for the 6months, get a teaching job and just stay there. Trust me, you don't need to spend 1m to go and cool your brain then come back to do NYSC. That might not be the best decision. If you want to cool off, trust me you can achieve that in Nigeria, relocate to another state that is cool. Finally, I believe you might have more reasons for wanting to cool off there, if they are legit, by all means ride on. Maybe you should send @WhyNa a mail and give her more details, she might create time and guild you better. Good luck bro. 8 Likes 2 Shares |
