I would highly recommend “Chris Dutton” on udemy and majorly on LinkedIn learning tutorials on excel, tho, not totally for beginners,

Not just for Excel alone but for Power Bi as well, dude is an analysis wizard.
In case you’re around Badagry, I have his Power Bi and Excel video tutorials.

Yes if there are interesting ones

First of all thanks for acting on the suggestion. I saw a thread from this section moved to front page.

But i would like to say that more can be done.

Everything about programming is interesting. Many people are not aware there is a section like that.

Check this thread for example, it is very, very educative and is helping people who want to change careers, or start a new career. There are many threads like that.

So Lala, please do more.

Sorry, I didn't touch my home office yesterday. It was my birthday and I was virtually in every corner of the world. Calls were just flying in from everywhere grin ;, Lagos in particular. I'll respond to all enquiries today but right now I still need to catch some sleep.

We will use SQLite. But most of what will be learnt can be extended to MySQL and Postgres.
Shoot me a PM if interested. Hopefully we can get some more engagement going here for enthusiasts!

I think many data scientists will agree that SQL is the foundation of data analysis. In fact, some jobs require you to know SQL and nothing more.
If you are getting to data science and don't have knowledge of SQL, then you've still got ways to go.

For those struggling to learn SQL, got some news for you. I'll be organizing a SQL class for free in some days (maybe a few weeks?). If you are interested, send me a PM and I'll add your name to the list. When we get to a reasonable number, I'll open the class. Perhaps we can get new people interested in SQL, or help beginners firm up their knowledge.

Mode of delivery: online (zoom)
Time: will be about 7-9pm Nigerian time on a weekend.
Resources needed: A laptop and good internet connection
What to expect: You will be doing some coding yourself, while following the lecture

We will use SQLite. But most of what will be learnt can be extended to MySQL and Postgres.
Shoot me a PM if interested. Hopefully we can get some more engagement going here for enthusiasts!

I suggest you create a thread concerning this for wider exposure.

Yes you can but it has to be on the cloud i.e you'll have to use Jupyter notebook from your web browser.
Kindly explain how it works, because I'm having issues working with csv files on the laptop.
If I try to import the csv,it's saying not found.

make sure you are in the same directory where the file is.
u can use is os.walk("."wink method to loop through all the files in the directory where you are getting not found and see if the file is really there.

Maybe the csv file is not in the same directory as python/anaconda. you should write the whole csv path directory in your code.

pd.read_csv('c:user\desktop\filename.csv')

lala, please help us ask the tribalistic moderator in Politics section wat this thread did to him.

He is the same mod that will turn a blind eye to thread abusing Igbo people, yet very quick to hide a thread discussing oil in Igboland.

Help us ask him wat this thread did to him. cc seun https://www.nairaland.com/5903415/no-oil-south-east#90309951

Guys,
I just finished my machine learning course.
I learned regression and classification algorithms like SVM, Linear/logistic regression,Random forest, Decision Trees,k nearest neighbor, gradient boosting and co.
Also I learnt unsupervised learning too, and also cross validation, grid search and com
I've also practiced on kaggle too.

Please, what next??

Is it a bad idea to go into deep learning after this??

Great!! I'm also an engineer, I haven't much knowledge in programming, in fact, I just started learning HTML. How has your limited knowledge of statistics played a role in your progress.

I'm good with calculations thouh.

What significant model have you built with those things you learnt? If you are able to answer the question then I think you are good to go.

What area of programming are you interested in undertaking?

Your Laptop's specs is OK for someone just starting out.

I know little about programming for now, I ordered for the laptop just to make sure I have some necessary tools before starting it, from the things I read online I think I will like to start with phyton. I love web design and android app coding.

Web design is cool. You can choose to be a front-end developer, a back-end developer or a full stack developer. If I'm to advise you, I'd ask that you start with HTML, CSS for your front-end. There aren't much complications here, then move on to Javascript. Or since you like Python, you can learn it for Back-end development.

For Android app, there's Kotlin, Flutter, Android studio, React Native to choose from.

I'm apparently new on this, so, there might be some inaccuracies with my suggestions, I believe the senior colleagues would provide a more expert and lucid picture for you.
