Hello house , I am looking forward to get my first car . BMW has really caught my eye, most especially the interior. My budget is 2M but can consider more . I have been eyeing 325i I’m not sure of the model . Please Engliten me is bmw not so problematic , can I get 325 at that budget, tokunbo preferably. I need to know please , I am also have an eye on Lexus IS 250. I can’t buy Corolla a their price, I believe they are overpriced. Suggestions please . |
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by chukel(m): 9:48pm On May 06, 2020 |
Cn866:which year of 325i are you looking at. 2m may not get you a sound toks IS250, but may get you a 325i depending on the year you want. Both are good cars but I believe Lexus will give you more reliability. Remember it's your first car. If you are tech savvy, then you wouldn't have issues with both. 1 Like |

Cn866:BMW is a great machine, but as a first timer I'd advise you go for the Lexus. Coming from auto technician. 1 Like |

Cn866:Life has taught me to go after anything I so desire because our sojourn here is too short, if a 325i is what you want then by all means go for it, just make sure you follow manufacturers instructions especially for parts and lubricants. People like yungboss, uboma, etc can fill you in in case you need advice. Know a very good bmw specialist. It’s better you take the risk now and experience the adventure or skip it and regret later on 5 Likes 1 Share |

chukel: Thanks, I am tech savvy but another thing, while I was searching I came across a Lexus ES350 2008 Nigeria used at price of 1.85, First body , never repainted. With pictures it looks so clean but I will be going with a mechanic tomorrow to check. I don’t know if that is a good buy. Moreover what are the things I should take so serious when checking. |

Cn866: If you are still buying the BMW, start with 1999 to 2005 model. The e46. Easier to run around as a starter with the M54 engine. 3 Likes |

Trust we all are safe. So earlier today, the defective crankshaft seal was replaced and the car run very fine as if it hasn't been powered for over 2 weeks. omoajiri: 1 Like |

Trust we all are safe. So earlier today, the defective crankshaft seal was replaced and the car run very fine as if it just got off the manufacturer's plant. I however still need to get a solution to the defective media/console. The screen isn't coming up and the radio too. My best bet is to head to Ladipo and get this sorted out as every ideas/suggestion had been tried but no positive result. omoajiri: |

omoajiri: Check the fuse controlling the radio in the trunk. Could be faulty, u can swap with another fuse of same rating. Speaking from experience with an e60 530i that had same issue |

Hi Guys, Could anyone please shed some light on 2009 BMW 535i - reliability, problem spots, and local part availability. Also, is it good as a daily-driver? Thanks in advance |

RZArecta:Abomination. IMHO of course. Strut brace for rigidity up front but then go chop off half the rear unnecessarily introducing scuttle shake. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scuttle_shake Engine bay could win prizes though. 1 Like |

i like to get useful info on BMW X6M 2012... is it a reliable car.. will not be an everyday car just for travelling |
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by drakeskull(m): 7:40pm On Jun 04, 2020 |
picaso313: Read reviews on that year on Edmunds and other blogs. You're going for an M and not just a normal BMW, have you considered parts availability, Fuel economy and Technical know-how. You'll also have to import most parts being an M. The performance will thrill you but maintenance is my concern Cc Heavenlybang 3 Likes |

picaso313: I am NOT a fan of BMW V8s. Buy a 2012 ML550 instead. Should be about the same price, while being a far more loaded car. Comes with the M278 4.7L Bi-Turbo V8 pushing 400+ HP and almost 450 lb-ft of torque. That's the car you want. If you want more power, you can get a tune for about 200k that takes it to almost 600 HP. There are plenty of MLs from that generation around already, so parts shouldn't be an issue. All CLS550's also use that engine, so you shouldn't have any issues. Very solid engine either way. |

The 2012 x6M pushes out 555hp and 500 ft-lbs torque |
Re: BMW Owners' Forum by HeavenlyBang(m): 9:09pm On Jun 04, 2020 |
drakeskull: 400 HP is enough for anyone. He's hardly ever going to use that 555 HP. Plus I did mention that he could increase power significantly for cheap. Here's a tuned E550 with the same engine making 460/550 at the WHEELS. About 530/650 at the crank with just a tune. Anyway, like I said 402/443 is enough for anybody.

Re: BMW Owners' Forum by alphaNomega: 2:02pm On Jun 05, 2020 |
picaso313: Go for the BMW. The only problem is that hot-vee engine. The engineers situated the turbo charger between the cylinder banks and that would damage the engine if you don't allow your car to idle for at least 15 minutes after spirited driving. Many BMW drivers don't know this and keep complaining about how unreliable the N63 engine is. This engine is also used on the 2012 X5 and newer, 7 series and the latest x7 SUV so getting replacement parts won't be a problem. My advice is to avoid roadside mechanics 1 Like |

Please assist...i was driving and my BMW E60 suddenly shows transmission light on the dashboard. I noticed I couldn't accelerate again. I had to park and left it. Got back to it and we took, still selects gear well only the acceleration, it to a mechanic workshop. He checked the transmission fluid guage. He uncelotape the flow meter where rat ate the wire. The light didn't show again. He drove it round and I drove it too. Took the car from work to go home, after buying fuel, the light came on and I had to just slow home... Please advise. |
