There are exclusive Confraternities and Sororities in many universities in the United States, The United kingdom...Most if not all of these confraternities and sororities were formed with the noble objectives of fostering brotherhood/sisterhood, camaraderie, academic excellence, unity of purpose...amongst members. I dare say those were the same purposes for which Prof Wole Soyinka and his friends formed The Pyrate Confraternity. Unfortunately, those noble purposes have long been defeated in Nigeria by blood thirsty murderers who masquerade as confraternity members. These days agberos, vulcanizers, traders, jobless youths are members of confraternities. What a shame! Nowadays, street urchins in Mushin, Bariga, Ikorodu...claim to belong to either Aye or SEC.
