You are naive my friend if you think it is the prerogative of financial institutions to act as judge, jury and executioner on money flows. Billions flow through the financial systems daily at quick speed. If I send a Western Union or a Sendwave now, do you think it's their responsibility to check the source of the funds? If a company incorporated in Dubai today want to purchase another company or property in UK for £1bln today, do you think the Financial Institution acting as processing house for those funds is supposed to investigate the source of funds? If it's above a certain amount, they may have to declare it, but if Dubai has not alerted the UK that this company is suspect, then there is nothing stopping the transaction.

Even as we speak, Nigerian banks are washing millions in corrupt funds daily and you want to blame the UK who are none the wiser. Do you really think your average clearing house knows who Orji Uzor Kalu or Alison Deizani is when clearing their funds, when Nigeria have not put any mark on their name. All they will see is one company with legitimate business who want to transfer funds.

It is up to you as a country to enact your own laws and enforcement to curb corruption, punish looters etc rather than relying on International Financial institions who have millions of automated transactions to clear every day to do your policing for you.

Someone built a banking system, not to Police other countries lax attitude to corruption but to earn commissions from providing a financial service. Same as Nigerian banks. It is not their duty to investigate whether this person transferring millions is a second cousin to the Governor of Bauchi. Build your own banking system and quit blaming those who built a quick and liquid banking system for your woes, cos you will never be satisfied with any banking system as long as you have thousands of corrupt people.
