UNCUT GEMS - 8.5/10
This movie was a thrilling ride. It just made me keep on rooting for Howard regardless of his consistent awful decisions, one of the best movies last year.
I highly recommend

1917 (2019; Hollywood)

With very few cast, this pictures brilliantly delivered its message loud and clear. Both messengers were superb in their acting and the war ravaged places settings were fantastic. No wonder the movie got love at the awards.

9.5/10

lovely movie, highly recommended.

I just finished watching First Man (2018)

I think it’s a great movie, but like any other historical based (biography's) movies. We already know the outcome and so it is harder to keep the audience in suspense, but damien chazelle’s great directing and linus sandgren’s cinematography made the last moments worth it. As for the story it was written very well, keeping us interested untill they actually luanch to the moon.

Half of a yellow sun 6/10

Let's assume that this is truly by all qualifications a Nigerian movie, going by that assumption, I must then admit that this is the best Nigerian movie I have seen based only on its cinematography, acting and scores. Every other aspect was underwhelming and somehow disappointing. There is no doubt there was some quality, but the plot especially felt sluggish and narrow. The characters lost their charisma as the movie progressed and just abandoned any little depth they previously had.

I might finally read the book, maybe it will help me appreciate the story more.

The Abo.kis and Afonjas really did us in. Imagine hating on someone for progressing.

The comedy was too forced for me, especially AY, it got cringe at times...the pacing was trash and the story was another cliché Nollywood story, I don't see the growth bruh..

There is no difference between those movies and music videos
AY is not dat funny. Just there

Lolz, they changed your Ab.oki to Northerners.... Sure, reading the book would make you appreciate the story more, but it'd definitely make you hate on the movie.

The movie failed to capture the whole essence of the book. Trust me, if you pick the book, you ain't stopping till you hit the last page, it was so well written.

Sometimes nairaland feels like a liberal art college. The word Abo.ki isn't even offensive, I believe it means friend. Why censor it, seun?

I felt Like the movie failed to capture anything. I will definitely read the book, I hope it captures the Biafran struggle as well or even better than "There was a country"
