FieldMarshall06: I didn't mean to be malicious with my words . i'm activ in military forums for 16 years now , and i follow here in this thread about african and nigerian military news for maybe 4, to 5 years now . and have searched a lot about nigerian air defense capacities in the past ( yes ,on internet only ) , and you have to admit that no official or non-official contract of an advanced new air defense system have been ever released in the past . as for secret , classified contracts , in secrets hangars, james bond nairalander, i dont believe this things , maybe you can hide some small procurments , but for important contracts even iran , israel , egypt with there billions contracts are released in details from there own allies compagnies ( its business ), even most algerian weapons contract from russia are released , even rumors are published years before contracts , , dont think nigeria have better relationship with russian, US , china's military compganies to hide some secret major advanced weapons contracts ( specially for air defense systems) . and specially that nigerian military budget is low for procurments. and when you see the nigerian army new weapons delivry ceremony with army chief of staff and medias ! even for small units delivry , i m sur the day nigerian army will get air defense systems we will see them quickly . ( because first role of an air defense system is to deterre , so even most secretive armies let leak some infos of there deterence capacities and even fake news of systems they dont have yet. So for my personnal view , africcan countries like us , that can't compete with the western armadas in attack , should focus on defense and detere any possible agressor with a strong mobile air defense system , that the bill to pay in case of an agression will be high even if they win in the end , and regarding the Nigerian army case, this is what frustrates me the most about it. ( even if you dont have the same geopolitics as north africa,) but nigeria is surrounded from all parts from french military bases and no modern air defense system or even high military radar detection and EW capacities to protect it if french want to strike your units ( read about what french air forces have done in libya during libyan tchadian war for exemple ) . for me it should be the second priority after finishing with boko haram terrorists. so again i'm not saying this out of wickedness or to demean the Nigerian army . I feel concerned about your contry and it's just frustrating to see no modern air defense system for a big country like nigeria . 15 Likes |

LTGEN: any link about this please ?? , are you talking about the russian Antonov-124 that was carrying French military equipment( a gazelle helicopter with ammunition) between Bangui to N'Djamena for . and had to land in Kano because it was out of fuel in 2014 ??

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by LTGEN: 7:58pm On Jun 07, 2020 |
S400:Yes It wasn’t out of fuel That was the cover story. If it was out of Fuel it could of landed at any Nigerian Airport. It wouldn’t of needed the personal intervention of the French Ambassador to visit the Airport on a Sunday to secure its release. You are also free to believe everything Premium Times writes. |

No Country discloses everything they have. Even Sipri has acknowledged they don’t get everything right. The Recent $182Military purchase between the G2-G2 of China and Nigeria escaped everyone’s attention until the Tanks, Tank destroyers and Other Stuff was being off loaded at Apapa. So to say We know every weapons procurement is not true because no one I repeat no one alerted anybody till we saw them in living color. Why am I spending time on this subject? It’s because Nigerians have to be careful that others don’t rewrite their History for them. Two days ago on Twitter some actually posted the Libyan Conflict is the First African Conflict to see the extensive use of ISR and the unleashing of armed drones. He was corrected almost immediately , however he never retracted that tweet. |

S400: No bro. The plane was forced to land. Pilots fly with sufficient and extra fuel for any journey. Another story said it had a technical fault, one said lack of fuel, lol. When I say "we separate men from boys", people insult me. But you believe every coded story out there. Smh. |

FieldMarshall06: any serious source , that say it was forced to land or detected ?? from russian , french embassy and even nigerian sources its all the same version . security agent intercepted the antonov 124 in the airport after the landing , wich is normal . and here what the nigerian Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Adesola Amosu ( a serious nigerian official source) said :
source : https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/172809-detained-released-chad-bound-russian-plane-nigerian-airforce.html so we should separate serious source from fantasy . specially for a simple standard international flight protocol for this story ,and even a simple civilian radar could not miss a hudge cargo like the antonov 124 on a civilian transport mission , so nothing special even if we imagine that it was intecepted 6 Likes

Forget about source, the media only reports what they are told. I have my own sources, but I will try to explain to you using geography. Am only trying, it is not worth my time. just take note. Look at the map below. Original route (red arrow)- Central African Republic to Chad. As you can see, that plane should not be in Nigeria at all. If Ndjamena airport was busy as they said, there are 4 airports in Chad. Alternative airports (blue dots)- as you can see, the closest airport is in Cameroon, which is a french baby. Why didn't they divert there. Or at least use the closer airports in Niger republic as shown by blue dots. How did they end up far in Kano? If the aircraft landed as they claimed, why was the Chief of Air Force present to brief the media. Why not NAMA or FAAN chiefs. Reason bro !! 3 Likes

The blue dots in Cameroon and Niger republic are closer airports than Kano. Why didn't the plane use those French colonies to land since Chad's airport was busy. They had to be "commanded" all the way to Kano. Lol. Don't mess with Nigeria !!! We are Africa's giant. 4 Likes |

FieldMarshall06: you missed a word from the French Defence Attaché " “The standard for international flights is that you have to go to the next international airport , and the next one is Kano. " , international , not all airport can receive big planes like the antonov 124 if you have more time , check only international airports where a big plane like an antonov 124 can land , i have cheked the closest Maroua-Salak camerounian airport for exemple , in 2014 it wasn't an international airport , the extension of the airstrip for big plane was done later . and think about this , why france if they wanted to attack nigeria or harm you, would use a russian aircraft , from a russian company (from logo on the tail its the 224th flying brigade affiliatedto russian defense ) , with russian crews ?? , it seems logical for you ? 7 Likes

S400: My friend, I can't help you and i have no obligation to convince you. France was arming boko haram and that period was the peak of boko haram. From your pic, the closest Intl airport to Ndjamena is in Cameroun as I said earlier. The next is Zinder airport in Niger republic. Why did your map not show Zinder airport? Also the Abeche airport in Chad can handle that plane. Arming boko haram to fight Nigeria and yet landing covert arms in same Nigeria, does that make any sense to you. The Antonov carries sufficient fuel to even return to CAR, so why get caught in Kano !! And why are you so rigid in argument over something you can never know Case closed. 4 Likes

S400:You must really think ALL Nigerians are stupid and you are the only one who is that smart. 1) Ambassadors don’t go to Airports to deliberately deliver documents if An Airplane runs out of Fuel. 2) The Plane was intercepted because it was in Nigerian Airspace and then it was told to land or get shot down. 3) Must you always toe the Western Line when they F/KC up? 4) Answer is very simple and Straight forward Airplane strayed into Nigerian Airspace Was told to I’d itself it didn’t was told last warning Land at Kano. 5)French Ambassador is alerted , He gets his documents together and Act together with the Nigerian Military Brass and everyone sings kumbaya . 6) Western Nations make mistakes, they get caught when they are unaware a 3rd World Country has certain asset it happens. Please don’t quote that pos Newspaper. 3 Likes |

Africa's first genocide happened at the turn of the century down South. The Boers having displaced the indigenes discovered gold and diamonds. The Randlords, the overwhelmingly Jewish mining financiers like Barney Barnato,Yehuda Porges,Lionel Phillips etc,etc put pressure on London 'to do smth,' and basically the Boer war kicked off in 1900. This was actually the second confrontation the first 2 decades earlier resulting in a resounding Brit defeat losing 400 for 40 Boers. Again, the latter used superior markmanship, mobility and chose better ground to ambush Johnny Brit who suffered major arse kicking at places like Colenso and Magersfontein. The few victories like Spion Kop were extremely bloody affairs,Pyrrhic victories where they suffered at least 8x Boer casualties to win Boer pos. As the war degenerated into a series of guerrilla campaigns the Brits realised the prime question of Coin war-how to reduce local support? They decided to channel all the Boer civilians into camps. The first two of these camps (refugee camps) were established to house the families of burghers who had surrendered voluntarily, but very soon, with families of combatant burgers driven forcibly into camps established all over the country, the camps ceased to be refugee camps and became concentration camps. The abhorrent conditions in these camps caused the death of 4 177 women, 22 074 children under sixteen and 1 676 men, mainly those too old to be on commando, notwithstanding the efforts of an English lady, Emily Hobhouse, who tried her best to make the British authorities aware of the plight of especially the women and children in the camps. https://www.sahistory.org.za/article/women-and-children-white-concentration-camps-during-anglo-boer-war-1900-1902 At the same time wells and springs were poisoned, livestock killed and crops burned. Up to a 100 concentration camps were built-btw,the strategy was copied in Malaya and here in the 50s-it works to a certain extent. This is where the word "concentration camp" was first used – in British camps that systematically imprisoned more than 115,000 people and saw at least 25,000 of them killed off. In fact, more men, women, and children died of starvation and disease in these camps than did men actually fighting in the Second Boer War of 1899 to 1902, a territorial struggle in South Africa.https://allthatsinteresting.com/boer-war Imo,there wasn't pure administrative negligence at play-it wasn't pure accident that rations for the Boer kids were so short. Knowing a little of the sociopathic Brit mindsight this was deliberate! 3 Likes

S400:you're right. Nigeria's missile capabilities need serious revitalization. a problem however is cost. modern missile systems are costly to procure. besides, this is not the 90s where Nigeria had more money to fund military. so they're focused on more necessary duties such as counter terrorism. Nigeria is not so much involved in global politics neither do they defy sanctions, so its safe to say, any need for SAMs won't be soon, as BHTs have no air capabilities. furthermore, I think African countries should focus more on indeginous attack vehicles, the truth is that any defense system is still dependent on the foreign powers. the aerospace industry in Africa is still very much young. also seeking to purchase serious hardware could lead to heavy sanctions that will damage Nigeria. the US is Nigeria's biggest trade partner, and the biggest crude customer. imagine what a boycott would feel like. |
