The Serving Overseer of the Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has said he is not prepared to open his church yet at the risk of putting the lives of his congregants in danger of contracting coronavirus.Bakare, who insisted that it was not yet time to open places of worship, said he was sorry for the country as some Christian and Muslim clerics were putting pressure on the government to open worship centers
In a sermon titled, ‘You are free to dream again,’ which he delivered on Saturday and was posted on Youtube, Bakare wondered if the religious leaders pilling pressure on the government to open worship centres were planning to take people to the graveyards.
Bakare said, “I’m so sorry for our country at this juncture; I’m so sorry that we are pressurising the government to open churches and to open mosques; you want calamity upon calamity. The church has not been closed; nobody can close the church.
“Yes, it is true that buildings are closed but the church is marching on. No one can close the church. And government can shut down the buildings; they cannot force us to go back because I’m not going to endanger the lives of our people.”

37.And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling.

38.But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”

39.Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm.

40.But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” Mark 4:37-40

Then ask ur members not to go to the market places, enta public transport, go to their respective work place inclusive if banks. They should just remain in their rooms so that their lives won't be endangered. That statement by u sir is unscriptural and not balanced.

Hypocrite!

There's a war against the church stylishly.

Why are they fixing the time we should spend in the church?

Why are they saying one service per week?

We would have "managed" other guidelines apart from the ones above.

I'm so loving this quote. wink smiley cheesy

It mirrors my point concerning the House of God in the following thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5900489/covid-19-closure-churches-wake-up-call#90264256

God bless you much sir for this.

However I wish Jesus or His apostles were here though.

Things would have been much different.

God bless Nigeria.

There is nothing unscriptural about his statement since nowhere in Scripture are you told to build or run church businesses.
That said, this church is his business place, and he is responsible for anything that takes place on the premises. As a business owner, he has to weigh the risks involved in getting people back into the seats at his church.

You do realize that there is no such thing as "men of God" as far as the new covenant that is Christ is concerned.

There are only Children of God and everyone who makes the decision to become a follower of Jesus Christ is a Child of Christ... a priest, and Jesus Christ, the one and only teacher/rabbi that should be followed. undecided undecided undecided
