I saw it somewhere, that article says they’re expected to continue their policy so it’s business as usual if they do

That was a good read. Papa JPowel wants to keep pumping to keep Trump happy; I'm all for it.

What Powell has successfully done is to DIVORCE the market from economic fundamentals

The chickens will come home to roost one day
And the repercussions will not be palatable

All this one he is doing will not save his buddy Trump from imminent loss in November
But that's btw

I foresee a lot of badly run companies on the NYSE going under.

I'm more of a NSE person

In Nigeria at least, the markets and the fundamentals are still in sync to an extent

I was thinking of dabbling into foreign markets for years

But I could not because of the platform was beyond my reach

Until I discovered this thread and I have been reading through, but not done reading

You guys are still doing a good job here

With the recent actions of the feds
It gives me double mind
On whether to put my money

Pls recommend a trading platform that is less hassles for me

Very proud of your results sir.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
If they are short term investments/trades, watch over your profits with an eagle eye so you can bail out at the slightest sign of retracemet with your profits booked.

Thanks for the advise brother.......i'm watching closely 3 eyes
Re: Us Stocks Pick Alert by Madisonsqua(m): 5:08am On Jun 09, 2020
yes you're right......definitely not a rocket science......just need research time and staying informed....................
I'm glad i took the risk

Damn, look at that. Over 40% in just how long? That's no small feat and living proof you don't have to be an MBA degree holder to grow your money. I give you all the credit boss, you took a big leap and its paying off, congrats.
Honestly I love when people post their gains no matter how big or small, it will encourage many folks that have been on the sidelines. As Nigerians we can be suspicious at times but once we see more people reporting positive feedback, it encourages us to take a chance. Before I started, I used to have my bank invest low risk mutual funds and bonds, every year I will male like 4% and the bank will still keep 1%. But then a co worker of mine advised me to invest my money myself and it was around the same time I stumbled upon another nairaland thread about US stocks. It's really not rocket science, everyone can grow their money in stocks.
Congrats once more!!

Yes I think South Africans have more access to international brokers. Maybe check if TD Ameritrade is allowed over there.

someone here just said bamboo takes too long for it to effect your trade

From my experience, Bamboo doesn't take long to effect both buy and sell so far the price is 'in the market'. Once the market is opened, the orders are filled immediately.

No, the stock market broadly is pricing in future economic fundamentals. The stock market doesn't wait for the economy to completely recover before rising. It rises in anticipation of economic recovery.

There are some "mispricing" here and there as we have seen quite a huge influx of retail investors for a variety of reasons including US investors who due to lockdowns are dabbling in the stock market. But in general, I think the stock market is doing what it usually does - reflect the net present value of future earnings.

There is a little logic in what the stock market is doing, for the fact that the present economic situation happened all of a sudden does not mean that people did not have savings . So, after the initial social and economic panic, people are becoming relaxed and more ready to start doing something to earn income with their savings. It now happens that there is nothing really to do because of the lockdowns.
There is really no alternative source of earning income for folks who have savings. The stock market with its advantage of contactless transactions and easy of entry offers an alternative. People are just buying shares and selling share, no more fundamentals.

Entered luly oil @ 0.385 x 5000 today let’s see how tomorrow will be. My first off fundamentals shot thou. Does not intend to hold for more than a day.

Bamboo is better than Trove from my experience.
Thank you

I have also registered with bamboo. Email verification seems to be having a lil glitch. Once am able to verify my email am done with trove.

Up till now, my trove portfolio is still showing $0 since yesterday.

I wish there is a way to move my fund from app to app.

I registered both Trove and Bamboo same day. Got a better response with Bamboo in terms of confirmation, orders and especially change of currency.

As a complete novice I put 50 dollars on AAL when it was already sky high hoping it would go higher. Just yesterday after some unimpressive e movements I've opted to sell and I'm looking for an oil stock to put it and cash out before Friday. As I'm seeing all these numbers on the energy stocks I'm very sad that I always find out when its already late. I've been reading o..but apparently I've been reading all the wrong things.

How can someone help me to recognize a breakout opportunity so I can grow my little capital? I need help pls.

Don't worry yourself about the email verification thing.
Just go ahead and make deposit and start buying stocks

I registered with bamboo last year October, made deposit, bought stock, sold , made withdrawal but still my email is showing unverified.
I clicked on the resend verification email, the email Wil come but still status remain the same.

I just gave up and I didn't bother myself to contact them. Good thing is if I make any transaction, I will be notified in my email. So I'm good.

so i have an issue with my robinhood
i had 100dollars in my account, i traded and it entered 118 in a day all of a sudden my money dropped to 100dollars when market was closed
then i made little losses it dropped to 94 i traded again i made profit to 105 just for me to wake up to see my stock drop to 84.
i didn’t see anything wrong at first cause i felt maybe it’s because of the time zone
now i made my money from 84 to 106 last night only for me to see my stock drop to 97 dollars again
any reason why this is happening? does this happen only on robinhood?

The market although doesn’t reflect the present economic situation but seems the Fed is ready to prop the market until it does... jobs are picking up slowly however and tourism businesses especially are operating up in anticipation of summer. This bubble would bust eventually but I think it’ll take some time and the opportunity cost of holding cash is getting low to no returns that could have been gotten investing in the market.

And yes Powell and Trump seem to be determined to continue pumping the market, Trump even teased Buffett for selling his airline stocks lol.

I think the Fed can actually keep this up tho, this was the same scenario that happened after the Great Recession after the banks were bailed out, so it’s not the first time Fed is employing this technique. Trump simply acted faster than in 2008

Honestly speaking I think Nigeria doesn’t have a functional market. A company can release good results, the stock price doesn’t reflect changes to the company and the liquidity is non existent. If it comes to comparing with the Us market, the liquidity in a small penny stock can be more than three times the volume of the whole Nigerian exchange in a day.
