I don't support impunity of any form. But when it gets to landlord and tenant matter, I always believed that if a tenant is dissatisfied with landlord, the person should quit. Why take your landlord to court and hope to stay in his building and be flexing muscle.

She is very correct to do this because nija justice system is very bad and very unfair to property owners..people are wicked and want to enjoy another persons sweat..all of u people blaming her are not realistic and very selfish cos if u were the owner of a property and someone stays there refusing to pay u rent so u can eat and survive im sure u wont be saying all the rubbish u are saying about this woman and her actions..i heard of cases where tenants will frustrate landlords for years and someone find a way to get the court to restrict the landlord from going to his own property for years until case don finish for court wich could last upto 7yrs and latter evict tenant and landlord would be awarded damages but tenant will say he can only be paying 500 naira yearly..and court will agree,so tell me if u were a landlord and that happened to u shey u will be giving testimony in church?mtcheeew

You have not shared the full story of what transpired but you brought this embarrassment upon yourself...

Before a landlord can do this, they must have given you notice to quit either because of your inability to pay rent or their need to use the house for other things.

Instead of you to pay rent or reason with the landlord, you run go collect injunction for court, the same way our politicians abuse courts by collecting injunctions... and the dumb judge will issue injunction without hearing from the affected party...

Nice one... Most tenants are evil. They will spoil your property and also refuse to pay Thier rent as at when due. It's served them right. No landlord will be a burden to his or her tenants when they are doing the right things. I know what I'm even experience from my tenants in Lagos too.

Before you judge her, look at it from this angle.

Most tenants are guilty of deliberately refusing to pack out because they know that if you go to the courts the court would almost always pass a judgement that in the short and long term factors the tenant.

The occupancy law in Nigeria favours only the tenant. I am talking from experience. A certain man built some very nice 3 bedroom houses in Kubwa Abuja. He rented it out and that's where his problems began. When the rent had expired the tenants refused to leave. He took the case to court, spent over 3 million Naira for a rent whose combined total wasn't up to 2 million. Only for the tenants to be granted an extension of stay.

The question is if you decide to obey and follow the rulings of the courts, will the tenant also obey? They won't. Because if you go back, the tenant only has to say that he hasn't gotten another place and he would be granted another extension of stay.

Now you are fighting to collect rent meanwhile the tenant is comfortably residing in the house you built for business with the full backing of the law.

Why wouldn't Mrs Audu take such lengths. Put yourself in her shoes. A widow that probably has only those rents to survive on and mouths to feed.

Drop sentiments and know the details before passing judgement.
