History of Lagos - Wikipedia
https://en.m.wikipedia.org › wiki › Histor...
Post colonial When the Colony and Protectorate of Nigeria was established in 1914 Lagos was declared its capital. Lagos experienced rapid growth throughout the 1960s and 1970s as a result of Nigeria's economic boom prior to the Biafran War. This continued through the 1980s and 1990s up to the present date.

Nigerians stop fighting with the South Africans, our cities are not better. FOR NOW, patriotism goes so far, before it becomes stupid pride, Nigeria has a long way to go before we can compare with South African cities. But by 2027 mark my words, Nigeria will be of the same standard, with urban regeneration projects ongoing in 10 different states it will be no time before we are equal.

Lol funny how you think SA is not doing the same

I mean Gauteng alone has 27 new city projects, i won't speak about the whole country

That's common sense you know?..
If 2000 Ghanaian Students were initially attending Senior high school,
now with the introduction of ''Free SHS system'', times-2 that number(4000) are attending SHS,
so its just common sense that there will be much pressure on the facilities hence the need for ''double track system'' in some of the schools.

One will ask, why have the numbers increased that much?, Because in the past the qualification for SHS was pegged at Aggregate 24, but now the new system allows for up-to aggregate 45 so those that will have been disqualified in the past are all allowed into SHS now.

However, the Government has fast-tracked the building and improvement of the SHS facilities so as we speak a lot of those schools that were running double track system are back to single track.

Kenya(East Africa) can never be better than West Africa.

rvp2018:
And yet you're still doing double-track education - because you lack school facilities.

We once discussed with you about malls, I didn't realize you're not the kings in that sector.
Now after arguing with a Ghanaian on the same , he claimed that biggest malls in West Africa lie in Ghana..

After a thorough research, I found out they are merely shops like.
How comes they are the biggest in West,? Or do you guys don't have malls? grin
Where is the largest market in West Africa located?

The West Hills Mall is located in Accra Ghana. It can be named the biggest market in West Africa. It covers almost 93,000 square meters

I am not sure if it simple fix or you need Abuja. Kenya cities require simple fixes - like building walkways, light rails, formalize transport systems, upgrade slums and bridge the housing deficit - but Nigeria slumpolis are not possible to fix because of the integrated slum. With the exception of Abuja the rest of the cities are so much integrated hodgepodge it cannot be easily fixed.

Two Rivers is the biggest Mall in East Africa. The Mall is partly owned by Centum and majorly by the Kenya billionaire Dr. Chris Kirubi. It is located in Nairobi, Kenya on an area of 65,000 square meters.

Yes Joburg and Pretoria are only 40km from each other however Pretoria does have a small International Airport....Its mostly used for private international chartered flights and a couple of domestic flights.

And then couple of Airforce bases namely Waterkloof AFB and Swartkop AFB..........Also several smaller airfields

You don't understand these things. Malls are measured based on gross lettable space. For instance - Two Rivers has gross lettable space of 65,000 sqm but it's built on 11 acres. The entire Two Rivers Project sits on I think 100-200 acres.

West Hill Ghana - gross letable space is not even half of Two Rivers Mall -West Hills Mall (27,000 sq m)

Using that same Logic I can say Bangui ranks higher than any Nigerian city bar Lagos and Abuja?

Your are sensible.
Exactly what I have been saying all these while.
Speaking the truth does not make you weak or inferior as some people think.
There are some debates that are not needed. We all have eyes to see so no need being over Patriotic here cos it sometimes become more like stupidity.
There are a number of areas where Nigeria Or Ghana beats South Africa or East Africa, so in any debate, we should focus on those positive areas and leave these City Comparisons cos we are not there yet, maybe 10 years time we will overtake them but for now, we should swallow our pride.
