Can you imagine! Do you know how many staff I have? It's not your fault anyway.

It affected my business but health first. Nobody gets hurt.

Thank you elder.

Hope you are fine.

Sorry to say but with all dis observations; Wat makes u think u not asymptomatic by now??

Very good question
Someone in my house has tested negative so I assume I'm also negative. D person had contact with two positive cases and they were asked to stay in self isolation till the test result was out.

June 8
Total sample tested: 78,224
Confirmed new cases: 315
Sample tested on June 8: 1,704

June 9
Total sample tested: 79,948
Confirmed new cases: 663
Sample tested on june 9: not included..

To get the sample tested on june 9, we subtract the total sample tested on june 8 from that of june 9...
79,948 -78,224 = 1,724

A test of 1,704 was carried out on june 8... 315 came out positive, 1724 was carried out the following day, 663 came out as positive..

How did it happen??
Are they retesting the confirmed cases and adding them to give new cases.. I no dey understand anything again like diz

Nigeria does not do random or mass testing but targeted testing based on contact tracing protocols. It is very very possible.

WHY YOU SHOULD NOT DOUBT THE FIGURES

I am sorry I disagree with you.

It is not in all countries where there are increased cases that there are disruptions. Disruption comes with the dynamics of infection pattern, tropical zone and management. Let me give you a few examples. Today the following countries have astonishing number of confirmed cases of the novel virus, but no disruption in their socio-economic system except such as is common to all the nations affected by the pandemic.

Canada 96,000 but 55,000+ recoveries
Saudi Arabia 108,000 / 76,000+ recoveries
Turkey 172,000 / 144,000+
Qatar 71,000 / 47,000+
UAE 39,000 / 22,000+
Kuwait 33,000 / 22,000+

I used recoveries as against confirmed cases just so you know that majority of their reported cases have recovered, and more than 75% of active cases are of mild to moderate level. Have you heard of any chaos in those few countries just highlighted above?
The 5,000 you mentioned against Lagos is just the gross number of confirmed cases, many have recovered and discharged, and a few have succumbed, so the active cases are within manageable level - not all 5,000 are in the isolation centres as you tend to suggest.
Only 8,000+ cases of the 13,000 confirmed cases you mentioned are active. And these are distributed around the existing isolation centres in the country. And of these only about 1% is serious or critical - not enough to cause disruption.
When you say that only the imported cases were actual figures that Nigeria has, you are invariably insinuating that the novel coronavirus is not infectious. Is that the case? Let me tell you why the spread is often very fast and unmanageable. Let's say a doctor and a nurse attended to a Covid-19 patient and all three were not aware that the patient is a carrier. And he is given medications for malaria which they assumed and he went home, and eventually the doctor and the nurse happen to attend to say 30 other patients same day. Can you then calculate the degree of spread that has thus taken place? The nurse goes home and spread and the doctor goes home and do same, all unknowingly. And the innocent patient does same. What about all the other patients they had attended to? They all go home and do same! From just one days event can you count the degree of spread that would have happened? This is how it goes. And it is reported that no fewer than 800 health workers have tested positive in the past 100 days of this pandemic. Now multiply that, what you will get is not paltry 13,000 being reported dear! Far, far higher than that.

Oh my God. Who did we offend. With this massive increase in cases, I dont expect the FG to allow any further movement.

A total lockdown of Two months should be enforced in all states. Everyone to remain inside his house.

People should stock their homes fully and all remain indoors. This is the only way this Pandemic could be defeated.

I call on the FG as a matter of urgency to lockdown the country indefinitely till further notice.

We are in big trouble in Nigeria and the FG lifting all bans and allowing its citizens suffer from this deadly virus.

I condemn it, I condemn it, I condemn it and urge all Nigerians to rise up to their voices and call for an indefinite lockdown till further notice.

Enough is enough now.

And what do people who are incapacitated to stock their homes with food that will suffice them through your proposed lockdown period do? What about those those who sustain themselves, and their families, by what they earn daily? Will you take responsibility for their needs, or will you influence the government to do so? Let me guess, your answer to the last question would be ''NO''.

If you look critically, trying to ascertain why the lockdown was lifted in the first place, you will get to know that the government isn't ready to take up Nigerians responsibilities. I mean, they already showed us that they cannot sustain the livelihoods of people in the country. And if they try to, the country's wealth will run dry. Do you expect such a clueless government to extend the lockdown further? Instead, they will continue to feed us different delicacies of 'excuses'.

If it may interest you to know, indirectly, they are already trying to tell us that the amount expend on treating an infected patient is much. To buttress this, Lagos Task Force lead, Dr Abayomi, declared that: the amount spent on testing each infected patient is #50,000. When a government is publicizing the amount spent on a project in this manner, be very assured that such government is tired of spending on it (the project). If Nigerians money could not be used for Nigerians, I wonder who the mysterious beneficiaries are.

Nigerians couldn't feel the impact of good governance, but they still look for means to impact on themselves to live, and enjoy the gift of life. Should that be taken away from them, too, all in the name of saving them from a virus and inflicting them with hunger? I would say emphatically, NO! If the government is not ready to save us, then they are not worthy of stopping us from saving us.

My question to everyone suggesting another lockdown is: if peradventure this pandemic is going to be around for as long as, say, 4 years, do we lock everything down? Is lockdown a curable remedy? If we lockdown for as long as the virus stays, are we going to lose or gain?

Note:

The earlier we start realizing that: if we are comfortable in an uncomfortable environment, it doesn't depicts that every other person there is comfortable.

PEACE!

Oprah Winfrey, a well-known African American host, recently used her influence to warn black Americans to take seriously the outbreak of the new crown, saying the disease is "taking people's lives," the BBC reported. She said the virus has hit black communities so hard that people are not aware of the risk of asymptomatic infections.

The blacks are reportedly hard hit in the US, South Africa and Brazil? Beyond loose genes or immunity, I guess their being hard hit may not be unconnected with their conduct and attitude towards this ravaging pandemic. Trading disbelief does not change reality. It was too late for many to realize it.

They're anticipating further increase in cases but they see nothing wrong in opening worship centers but like others won't follow their guidelines. It's either we hope and research and find out this won't be lethal to us or we get whatever comes our way. The worst thing is this is going to affect people with other ailments with the way it'll keep affecting health workers nationwide sad

Eh another lockdown will be pretty much futile. Our pace of cases pretty much went over the government's heads. That is during the semi-lockdown confirmed daily cases weren't as high as now, now socio-economically it's no longer sustainable(not just us, south Africa, India, Brazil and Russia are facing the same dilemma). What I want to know is why they have this false confidence of reopening places again and thinking and hoping it'll go down well.

Fantastic opinion and observation. True talk there. For me, lockdown means nothing at this stage, as the earlier ones were squandered. Effort should be made at this point for everyone to learn or be taught how to live with this virus. For how long can any nation really lockdown?
But the government has to work hard to fight the spectre of the widespread doubts and ignorance around this pandemic. The secretiveness with which the pandemic is being managed breeds distrust and mistrust, and it creates loud rooms for unfounded speculations and theories. People want to see what is going INSIDE the isolation centres. This is a pandemic. Whatever ethics forbid that does not hold under the circumstances. Laws were made for man and not man for law. All those excuses of it is against medical ethics is unacceptable. Enough is enough. We all cannot troop down to the centres to see for ourselves, why do we have electronic media?

I've stopped talking to people online and offline about the reality of Covid-19 in Nigeria and I've stopped disturbing myself, let everyone follow his/her belief.

You believe the virus exist in the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa and especially countries bordering Nigeria like Cameroon, Niger, Benin, Togo, Ghana, Kenya, S. Africa, Senegal etc but wouldn't believe it's in Nigeria. You feel everything about Nigeria must be audio.

Let the country be officially opened till we get to the stage of Ecuador where people started dumping corpses along their streets because their health system was already overwhelmed to take people in for treatment, hope we get there soon.
The Lagos state government has already started sounding it that her health facilities are getting overwhelmed.

Let's assume you hate the FG and your SG, what about the NMA doctors association, Nurses association and others who see to the patients and they tell you it's real, are they lying to you that you won't believe them too? If you can't believe the doctors and nurses, who am I to convince you? Everyone please believe what you want abeg.
