Born as Cassius Clay, he changed his name to Cassius X and finally Muhammad Ali when he converted to Islam. He won an Olympic gold medal as a light-heavyweight in 1960 aged 18. Four years later, he became the World Heavyweight Champion after knocking out Sonny Liston in the match’s seventh round.

The late Muhammad Ali, made many trips around the world while he was alive, particularly to Africa in a bid to get reconnected to his roots as his paternal grandmother was a native of Madagascar making him an African-American descent even though many said he was of Nigerian descent.

On one of his trips to Africa, Muhammad Ali visited Lagos, Nigeria on a 3-day tour of the city from June 1- June 3, 1964.

"King of the world" was what was chanted as he greeted people around who welcomed him warmly.

It was a right utterance because till today, he is still regarded as the GOAT! Greatest of all time!

He was intimidating physically with his looks and words yet a well known philanthropist.

He stood boldly for what he believed and refused to be drafted for war in which affected his boxing license for about 3 years. After all that, in 2005, President George W. Bush presented him with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, something he stood for.

He had such a great career but as he said "nothing lasts forever, not even Muhammad Ali".

He fought 61 times, winning 56 and losing 5 times. He fought Parkinson's disease for 32 years and died in 2016.

He loved Africa and visited many countries here.

Remember, Nothing lasts forever, not even Muhammad Ali! Do you remember his fights?
