Tell us about yourself and how you started off in the photography industry?

I'm Patrick Ebi Amanama, a narrative photographer, From Bayelsa state, grew up in Lagos. Worked in Abuja as a Photojournalist with LEADERSHIP Newspaper and The AUTHORITY Newspaper. Presently, I'm self-employed. I'm also the CEO of Saint Patrick's Portraiture. Well, in 1996, while in Lagos, I got introduced to video production by the Producer of Flesh and Blood. Ms Ameze Imarhiagbe. In her team were Dele Ajakayie, Lamson Yesuf . She later introduced me to Chico Ejiro, and I had to under study Chico for while. Meanwhile, my child hood friend, Isiaka Gbodiyan introduced me to Moussa Moussa, a Lebanese international fashion photographer. So in 2000. I started working as a light man with Moussa. It was a wonderful experience.

How has photography changed your life as a person?
Photography is writing with light and I felt, the only way we can tell our own story is when we project our real nature. My love for photography is beyond limit. Photography is life to me, it has opened a bunch of opportunities for me and I have met some interesting personalities. I have traveled round the country making images for the MDGS/ SDGS. And for so many organizations. It has also giving me an atmosphere to learn re-learn with series of trainings. Journalism, street and documentary photography, dramatic lighting, fashion and beauty, digital film making and cinematography. I run a personal studio where I do my own thing and also train young and aspiring photographers. Aside, documentary, fashion and life style photography, I do nude photography.

Wow... nude photography? How does it feel when in the presence of nude women or do you also do for men?

I'm an artist, and I'm a professional. And all those I have been working with are professionals, so there is an understanding and it's strictly business. I have never done nude for men.

What are you working on now?
Lately, I have been on a project for a consultant. Project sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development And Monitoring Board, Teachers Development Project. I'm the documentary photographer/ film maker as regards the training. And like I mentioned earlier, I run my photography outfit in Lagos. I train young photographers and some modeling agency photoshoots.

So what next?
Changing the face of photography. Building on my experience as a documentary photographer, and photojournalist. Going on strong narrative photography and expand my photography empire.
