A Threatened Rape Victim by Denique(f): 11:52am On Jun 11, 2020
Hi guys!

I have a rape case at hand and I really don't know how to go about it.
I decided to create a thread for it so as to reach a wider audience.

A young girl at my shawarma spot told me she was raped by a 42yr old man and the incident yielded a child...a child he doesn't take care of!

According to her, he brings a paltry N700 which is not everyday. She said the man's mum threatened to make her dumb if she goes to human rights.

I plan to tell a popular Lady in the area whom I also relate well with about it, so she can meet with the father of the girl who also owns a shop in the plaza.

Her parents asked her to let go since she has a child by the man. Their reason is so that, the child does not grow up to be tagged a rapist child.

People in the neighborhood call her demeaning names cos they all think she slept around and that resulted in the pregnancy.

It was also this same man that deflowered her. He admitted raping her to her parents and he is still friends with her uncle. The only thing the uncle is suggesting is changing the boy's surname to hers since he has refused to support her with 15k on a monthly basis.

I am also being careful as I am new in the area.

All these came up when she kept coming to buy shawarma on credit citing she hadn't eaten...her father sometimes gives her N150 to eat and feed the child also. He didn't give her the day before yesterday but gave her yesterday to take the boy to the health centre.

I wept yesterday when I saw how she beat up the child like an adult...clocked a year old this March while she's just 24. Neighbours abused and hit her for beating him. I understand her pains but couldn't do anything. The girl isn't psychological balanced...one could tell from her speech and that is why it breaks my heart that someone took advantage of her and her fears cry

I feel so sad right now.

Should I tell the woman in the plaza as her father listens to her?

Pls note that the man has also raped another girl. The victim's elder brother only beat the abuser up and that was it...

Modified:

I just confided in the said woman and she told me to drop it as nothing of such was told to anyone.

Her words...

She was impregnated by her father's apprentice not the alleged 42yr old man she mentioned to me. She also said she lies to get stuff from people and that she has let go of all the monies she owes her as she can't pay. She sold the lies to me knowing that I am new in the area...she currently owes me 2k worth of shawarma that I was ready to write off but not anymore after this...like I am so emotional right now cos she came to tell me she hadn't eaten today and I believed her...told her to check back to see what I can do.

I don't know who or what to believe anymore...

Creating a thread to seek justice on her behalf...

Had to update y'all so you don't think I backed down from helping her. I would only suggest to her to go to a nearby human rights in Lagos to seek justice if she knows her story is true. Don't want to be caught up in a web of lies and deceits...

Thanks to everyone who reached out and was willing to help.

Contact Human Rights, Police , NAPTIP, Lagos state Gov't. They will handle the matter judiciously. You might have done your part by then
Re: A Threatened Rape Victim by Geminita1(f): 12:05pm On Jun 11, 2020
Please do whatever you can to make sure she gets justice. Even if you tell the woman at the plaza still report to the appropriate authorities to take it up from there. Don't let the serial rapist get more victims. You can do this anonymously, don't have to involve too many people. God bless you.

I will discuss with the woman and then send a message to Segalink. Someone also dropped a link for me on another thread.
Thanks!

Please, be brave enough to report the motherfucker. Both he and him mama (accomplice) will be arrested. You're the only hope that victim has now and you mustn't fail her.

I've stayed around that area before.
There are so many unreported cases of rape there.
I think you should try nd contact any NGO for justice.
Maybe through Twitter.

Is it okay if I discussed with the woman I talked about so as to corroborate the story?... once I do that and it's confirmed, I'd pretend not to be bothered and then go ahead to report to the various agencies.

That way I get to keep me anonymous. They'll just be guessing as the matter would have spread, courtesy of the woman

So sorry for the late reply, I've been offline.

For me, I'd say it's better you go straight to the appropriate agencies. It's only necessary to involve the said woman if she's the only link to the agencies. Otherwise, go straight to them, they'd invite the victim for questioning/clarifications etc.
Taking this route protects your anonymity more.

Pls and pls..u r really such a good woman but then I think u should thread carefully on this tho..cos I wouldnt wanna see u getting yourself into deeper trouble trying to help her out..

Well..her case could be viewed from this 2 perpectives:

Either..she was so promiscuous and ended up getting burnt after several warns from her people..which make them leave her to fate..

Or

She was actually raped..

But then again..she might actually not be stable and firm to defend herself when the process starts..
Thanks..

Re: A Threatened Rape Victim by Atk1nson(m): 5:01am On Jun 12, 2020
The story sounds more like a lady unhappy about having a dead-beat partner and not rape. The lady is probably unhappy the man is not taking proper care of her or the child, she can probably throw in a rape accusation to press her case farther.

You may be right though, you should however give both parties a chance to air their views before concluding

The woman claims she'll end up causing trouble between I and father if I don't stop selling on credit to her. It happened to her...she wrote off the debts as no one was ready to take it up and pay for her. According to her, it was for several months before she knew her kind of person.

The woman claims the former and told me to ask around if I think she's lying. This is a mother of two girls and a very strict woman too...I don't see her enabling such incidence.
BigDick70inch:

But then again..she might actually not be stable and firm to defend herself when the process starts..
Thanks..
She came to me yesterday not to mention her name to the woman so, she wouldn't beat her...I declined cos it didn't make any sense for a mother of girls to beat you over a rape case.

The truth isn't farfetched here!
He was her father's apprentice but was sent away after he impregnated her.

He seems to me like a financially handicapped guy as he was yet to finish up.

Good morning/otutu omma/e Kaaro.. grin

Well..heaven has it on record that u really wanna help your fellow human..but she doesn't want to be helped..

So pls kindly leave her to her fate as well..

Like a popular saying"A corpse doesn't hide his/her unclothedness from someone willingly ready to take his/her bath" cheesy

What if u decide to go with the rape aspect of it and she ends up denying ever telling you her story, just when NGO is ready to take it up??

What if the case eventually get to court and she ends up telling the judge the accuse never raped her nkor??

Wouldnt all this make you look stupid hun??

She seems like someone that cud do all that sis..

Think about it..
