Mr Amoako Atta, the Minister for Roads and Highways, disclosed the plans and said the development will be under the government’s Critical Roads Project. “The President has directed the Minister of Finance to raise special funding to fund these critical projects across the country. and who said that is wikipedia. You can keep quoting him despite the fact that he give a false figure and it wont make Kenya to have less roads than Ghana. Just to add to your woes, He also said 27% last year Of the total road network of more than 780,000 kilometres under the portfolio of the Ministry of Roads and Highways, only 27 per cent are paved. The paved roads are made up of trunk, feeder and urban with 41 per cent of the total network in good condition. Mr Kwesi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of Roads and Highways, said this at the second Ghana-Japan High Quality Infrastructure Conference in Accra on Tuesday. He said the figure had stagnated over the past five years due to dwindling budget allocations, but assured that the government under its transformational agenda was undertaking a novel way to improve on the infrastructure. “Public Private Partnership (PPP) and other innovative Private Financing arrangements have been viewed by Ghana as a strategic way to harness the skills and finances of the private sector to deliver and close the gap in all the infrastructural sectors especially for road projects,” he said. “The Government therefore continues to explore and refine these arrangements as a solution to developing roads along economically vital transport corridors. The development of infrastructure will also create jobs through the private sector,” Mr Amoako-Attah said. Ghana’s medium-term goal, he explained, was to ensure a resilient built environment while safeguarding the natural environment. Mr Amoako-Attah stated that the Government was clearing the backlog of outstanding bills and procuring new projects across the country through competitive tender processes. Aside the roads sector, he said the Government was pursuing an aggressive program of streamlining business processes at the ports and in the public sector in order to attract and retain investors. “All these measures are intended to create a business-friendly environment that will assure all investors of the security of their investments,” he noted. Mr Samuel Atta Akyea, Minister for Works and Housing, said infrastructure roll out was capital intensive hence the need for partnership to invigorate the economy. “Whenever there is a suffering economy the means to jumpstart it is through infrastructural development,” he said. He said the housing deficit of the country had climb beyond two million and that the government was exploring avenue including using the pool of pension funds to finance housing. Mr Akyea stated that the drainage system of Dr Kwame Nkrumah was weak and could not sustain the sprawling city of Accra and the government was taking effective steps to fix it. “It is important to note that those who disregard issues of water and sanitation pay in high currency through health of the people,” he said. Mr Tsutomu Himeno, Japanese Ambassador to Ghana, said after the first edition of the conference held in 2017, the interest of Japanese companies had been high and urged government to continue to create the conducive environment to enable them operate. Shma:At least we have it and its in good condition such that it hosted World Hockey league. The last time Ghana national team played on your national stadium, 10% of our players ended up getting injured. Leading some to quit playing in the AFCON, just because you guys cant afford to put up a decent stadium with a levelled pitch. Even Liberia can do that |

Just30: Please stop multiplying figures, Your road network was around 70,000 by last year which only 23% was paved In 2017, Ghana had a road network of 67,000km with only 17% of those tarmaced. So please stop multiplying numbers here Road Class and Surface Conditions It is estimated that Ghana has about 67,291 km of road network today. Of this, 12,785 km are trunk roads, 42,394 km are feeder roads and 12,112 km are urban roads. 83% of trunk roads, 36% of urban roads and 72% of feeder roads are considered being in either good or fair condition. The network size, of which only 17% is paved, grows at an average rate of 8% per year. 1 Like |

Loss-making is part of any running business. Tell us why Ghana and NIgeria airlines were last seen on air 30yrs ago...and why you cannot run a profitable airline considering the huge diaspora you have...and free oil. Just30: 1 Like |

For 10 years and more? one may ask what kind of businessmen you guys are. Ghana and Nigeria airlines were last seen because they had served their purpose and done. Both Nigeria and Ghana were no longer the place where airlines wouldn't want to fly to again. So there was no need of keeping a national airline in the airline market. Taking them down freed up space for multiple private players to run even more profitable airlines and create more jobs. Oil is not free Now tell us why KQ have been making losses for 10 and more years Mkenya2019: 2 Likes |

Just30:what are you saying, Those players just fixed up things to cover up the shame from the beating they received. Ghanaians with all the masculinity in the leg can't complain of potholes especially when they walk on it daily. Fix your roads, make your stadiums looks appealing and we can have this discussion. |

What private airline in Ghana and Nigeria. KQ's own subsidiaries alone beat all of them combined. KQ has Jambojet flying regionally. It also own majority of TZ Flamingo or Precision Airline. You cannot hack airline industry because simple stuff like keeping time is nuclear science for you. Just30: |

Well, a ''doomed state'' is a Country where slowpoke Citizens fight among themselves because an Opposition Political Party loss an Election. A ''doomed State'' is when Citizens cook stones as their supper. A ''doomed state'' is when Wives are rented out to foreigners for money. A ''doomed state'' is when a President drinks alcohol openly for the whole World to see. A ''doomed state'' is when HIV cases are more than Malaria cases. Perhaps you may need to do more research on how a doomed State looks like, and Kenya will be somewhere in the picture..lol Saddamochieng00: 4 Likes |
