I'm telling you, that's why a serious person earning let's say #50k in Uyo or any state in the South will achieve more than someone earning the same amount in lagos.
You're right, man.
I remember my service year in Abakaliki, Ebonyi.
I rented a room apartment for less than ₦50k.
The highest I paid for electricity bill was ₦250 per month.
Lagos is just too expensive...

I've never been jobless infact I'm tired of working I'm now working towards retirement.
Managing two companies is no child's play.

Immediately I dropped pen after final exams I launched my award winning paint production business. Immediately after NYSC my software development company came to live.

Though I lost access to my first account I've worked for several notable people from here including the admin dejii AKA Olaniyi.

I build Mobile apps and websites. Bring your jobs I deliver without stories.
Thanks for your patronage.

Hmmmnnnn....me wanted to join one man in one business of supplying agric products like maize, cashew nuts , millets to a partiular company wont mention its name. So i put my savings and i told him oga this is my savings o, i really want to do something for myself cos i saw prospect in it. Its over a year now d man cant account for the money. Since then I've been scared of getting into any bizness at all. Its not like im swimming in money for me to risk loosing it . i saved so badly while taking care of my other needs. It was so painful
Same thing happened to me. It's almost impossible to find trustworthy people in our today's world. It almost became a police case. Didn't even get to recover all of my money. People with conscience are very few these days.

I Completed university at 21 . (2006)

The Job I desired was not Forth coming so I had to do the Job I didn't desire. As long as it brought in some cash! I also gain some great knowledge that has helped me and many others

I also improved myself with some Certifications ( Nebosh, Nhs, etc)

I later Resigned and had some good business dealings with my a relation.. All these things were totally outside my Course of Study (Accounting)

At a time I sold Arduino uno Pc and all that programming stuff with no Fore knowledge and Experience. But it was great!

By GOD'S Grace and Help I Relocated out of the Country!

I am still a Work in Progress !

When I look back , I have Great Reason to say THANK YOU PRECIOUS FATHER!

The few facts I know is
1. Knowing and Trusting JESUS Eliminates Many Struggles in Life.

2. Don't live life To please People! The Moment what you do is pleasing to GOD , carry on

3. Fornication is a Crippler of Destiny! It takes you back and down the pit. ( I say this From personal Experience)

4. No Matter how Friends Give up on you, do not Give up on yourself..
I'm glad you found out early that fornication is a crippler of destiny. You are lucky you saw the light, many are dying in darkness.

My secrets.

1. I did buy my foodstuffs and other essential things in heavy quantities so as i can make huge saving.

2. I lived in a cheap 1 room apartment that won't stress my savings.

3. I never presented myself as a savior, neither did i lived a fake life in front of my Girlfriend. In fact, i never spent much on her.

4. I gave myself yearly target and, I also gave myself enough time to achieve it.

5. I became very very afraid of poverty and dependence on people, so I fought and still fighting against it.

trust God. even the ugly situation, Jesus cares. If you are not born again. give your life to Jesus. That is the beginning of progress in your life.
Get busy with the WORD of God. Starting from New testament; Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John.
i can recommend some spiritual books that will be of help to you.
Buy Keneth Hagin Books: Bible faith study course and Bible prayer study course. these two books will be of help.
read it meditative and prayerfully.

after leaving school at the age of 22yrs I proceed for my service, i after i returned to lagos and waited for 5months and no reasonable job as i cant teach, i will rather work in mortuary than to teach in Nigeria private school.

i went to driving school where I learnt how to drive, did driver's license and few months after I got a driving job in one cocacola depot. I worked there for a year and during this year I resit for GCE as I was denied the course I was admitted in because of one subject in my former o'level. I had 6 subjects and I was given Political science in unilag even though I want Law

I worked with a land consulting firm for a year and I resigned to be my own boss. I'm doing some business and still opening more

it takes focus and determination to overcome challenges, you must also learn to pay deaf ears to gossipers or what people say. success doesn't need distraction

Nice thread, OP.
I've never been unemployed, though I won't say I'm financially okay.
My side hustles sustained me throughout by schooling days (ND and HND) and during my service year.
I stayed at home for few months after I finished service last year October.
I started my retail business early this year and it's to God be the glory....
can you share the retail business?

I had completed my Masters degree at Cranfield at the ripe old age of 32, packed my bags and returned to Nigeria with big dreams in April 2011. Every Tuesday and Thursdays, I’d walk to my estate gate to buy The Guardian looking for work. Nothing!

I threw my CV around... nothing

I volunteered to work for free ... nothing

Then on an ordinary day in April 2012, I got a call from the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on MDGs for an interview for a Senior Technical Assistant position. I attended; 3 weeks later, I was asked my salary expectation and I said I’d work for free cos this was what I’d always wanted to do. Picked up my contract offer a few weeks later—- shocking salary of 450k monthly! I was dazed and those were the good days!
Contract lasted 3 years and it was over with the change of government which I was glad about anyway because the thing when my eye see ... my mouth no fit talk! We had an annual budget more than most states of the federation.

Today, let’s just say I’m doing much better than I was back then but Not in a role that I enjoy!

good thread

I have quite an interesting story. I wasted some years at home as a medical graduate looking for an internship placement. What I did next was to learn how to flash phones and computers and made a good living out of it. Till I finally got a placement and then a job subsequently.

Frankly, I made a lot of money then as so many people are there who needs one or two stuffs to be done on their phones or computers.

Sometimes sef, I dey reason sey this job na scam.

Anyway, we thank Oluwa for all the years of learning and earning.

The sky's the limit.

LMAO. Very funny comment. And I sabi flash phones oo.

I've never been jobless.

Left secondary when I was 16. I spent four years at home working as a sales girl, saving for Uni, and helping my dad out with my salary sometimes.

Entered University, started side jobs while schooling. Editing people's novels for small fee. Working as a sales girl during ASUU strike and vacation.

In my third year, I got a steady job writing for a blog daily. My start pay was 25k monthly. With that I was able to pay my outstanding school fees, textbooks and final year clearance. Luckily it was during the free education period of 2013-2019.

Graduated last year. Since then, I've not had to apply for any job. Still doing that writing job (40k now) and also handling my own blog.

Hopefully by 2021 I'd have saved enough to leave Nigeria for masters.

how can I get your contact
