Frankrobbn1: Good evening gurus in the house From the advice received from @Frankrobbn1 and, @JustMellow In my sop, I stated that most of my salary (80%) is invested in my home country (land, shares and mutual funds) with proof because I am not from this country (I attached documents for the land and shares in Nigeria). I am the main sponsor of my wife now and my sister is the co-sponsor. (My sister is transferring $10,000 (CAD$13,000) to my account here). In my sop, I wrote that my sister is the custodian of my movable properties and sole financial representative in Nigeria. I attached proof of some receipts of transfer of money from me here to her account in Nigeria. I also attached two land documents in Nigeria (Abuja and Lagos) that I claimed she bought for me and an inherited land document from my father (dead) in Lekki. In the sop I said that in African tradition as the eldest in my family I inherited the land. Because the money from Nigeria is bulk money deposited in the account. I said it is part of my father’s inheritance savings from Nigeria. (I am applying in 2 weeks’ time) No time for Fixed Deposit or Treasury bill. Or should I write that the money is from the sale of one of my land, by my sister in Nigeria. Please is it a good idea? If not please advise…… Gurus in the house please help help help |

[quote author=JustMellow post=89965137] Hello Gugu40, This is my logical suggestion and I WOULD TRY to leave it pithy. Clearly, it will help her application more if you are part of the sponsorship intent burdening more of the financial commitment or responsibility. However, if the case doesn't go this way, no worries! Your sister and act as a stand-alone co-sponsor and you as the sponsor or vice-versa. Since she operates a joint account and also a signatory to the account, her spouse can issue a letter of consent/approval/permission to support her sponsorship claim. Meaning that your sister has to also include a separate letter of sponsorship. Now, this is my suggestion of what I will do: 1. You will act as the main sponsor and your sister can be the co. Argue that she played a sponsorship and support role in your family relocation outside your home country to achieve an utmost purpose i.e. study, business etc. Further deliberate more on her assistance hitherto to the present sponsorship intent. If possible, list and date her financial obligations. 2. Get your sister to use some millions of 7-8 in opening a FD or Treasury Bill in your name and then wait a short while before liquidation. The liquidated funds will then be transferred into your personal account, using the FD or TB as justifiable proof to tackle lump sum deposit. Both letters of sponsorship should coherently address the origin and source of funds. The letter(s) should contain therein that your sister is the custodian of your movable properties and sole representative in your home country. Thus, you've been saving through her or has been engaged in a financial investment with her for a period of time and then show proof. 3. Now with your BS abroad and home coupled with your spouse's BS, sister's BS and part tuition fees receipt/scholarship; you would be able to strengthen not only the financial aspect but also the sponsorship intent. 4. Endeavour to show home ties to your home country rather than your country of residence, as I want to believe that you've stronger home ties to home country than your CoR given your profile analysis. All the best Good evening gurus in the house From the advice received from @Frankrobbn1 and, @JustMellow In my sop, I stated that most of my salary (80%) is invested in my home country (land, shares and mutual funds) with proof because I am not from this country (I attached documents for the land and shares in Nigeria). What I usually do when I apply for a visa is to pay myself salary from my corporate account (business name) into my personal account for a duration of 3 or 6 months depending on the country I am applying to. I then use both my corporate and personal accounts to apply. I also request a reference letter from the bank for my corporate account which states that I am the sole signatory. The corporate account is to show the source of the funds while the personal account is to show my monthly individual earning. jamesy212: 1 Like |

Heywhy19: Hi. Visa processing time now for Nigerians is 7 weeks. These VOs look at your admission letter and actually take note of the date you’ll be resuming and work to give you a decision before that date. From research, it is almost impossible for them to not have given you a decision after your resumption date has passed (provided you at least apply before the 7 weeks processing period). This only happened recently (this May) because of the COVID issue as their offices were closed so they could not really attend mostly to paper applications submitted. Provided you apply online before the 7 weeks period of processing, I don’t think you have an issue. But again the earlier you apply, the better. All the best. 3 Likes |

Luckymama: My wire transfer was made from USA using USD and my Payoneer card is in USD. so, there was no conversion done. If your sponsor has a domiciary account then there wouldn't be any need to convert from naira to dollar. Just transfer from the dom account via wire transfer. I don't know about Form A but that's how i paid mine. Via wire transfer and payoneer mastercard. |

ralfudoh: Via Naira Master Card, Canadian Dollar is currently between 298 and 300 in Naira. We can't use the conversion rate for flywire corporation to determine the equivalence of Naira to CAD because they act as third party and also have some basic financial returns that goes to them. Frankrobbn1: I don't think that the ban on international flights is affecting the operations of VFS in Lagos or Abuja. They are probably trying to put things in place for safe reopening. They'll likely reopen this month. What may hinder their plans, I think, is the ban on interstate movement in Nigeria. |

hotboss: Glad you find the information useful. However, you're not required to secure any supervisors for a Master of Applied Science (MASc) at Memorial University of Newfoundland. A well-worded and coherently written SOP along side a minimum of 2.1 automatically makes you eligible for the program. It will end in praise 2 Likes |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Luckymama: 9:10am On Jun 13, 2020 |
Yads97: Yes. In fact the reason for denial was just generally that the VO felt I lack enough funds. It was when I got GCMS notes that I saw the main problem was that there was no evidence that the sponsor had control of the corporate account used. If you can get a letter from your bank attesting that you are the sole signatory of your corporate account like someone else suggested I think it will cover you. |
