Good morning everyone, Please what would be your advice for someone recently offered a job in the UK on a tier 2 visa with 4 dependants (a wife and 3 kids)? The company will only reimburse travelling and direct visa application expenses for me (the employee) and none of my dependants and i dont have the financial muscle yet to sponsor all of them till i get there and start working. Is it advisable to go to the UK alone first and bring them over within the next 6 months when i must have made enough? Is application for a tier 2 dependant visa over there seamless? You anticipated response is highly appreciated. 1 Like |

Abuyunus93: Get an affidavit and you good to go. Your Birth Cert. is not needed for the Visa Category you are applying for. I had same issue and got 6mnts, 2Years and 5Years Visas with the Sworn Affidivat. 1 Like |

Rheminix:U seem to be possibly a nurse. It's advisable u come over first since u don't have the means to come with ur wife and kids. When u are settled, u can then bring them over. Settling on time is also key as immigration health surcharge is to increase from £400 to about £625 as from October. Remember u will need a proper accommodation also if paraventure u come over with them which is quite expensive. One bedroom is about £500 depending where u want to stay in the UK. U will need about $2064 for both visa and IHS for one dependant. Multiply this by the number of dependants to give u how much u should be looking at. Then plus their flight fee. Of course u need to add tuberculosis test which has gone up to about 58,000 naira from 54k and also police cert. In summary, u need a lot of cash to bring them over even when u arrive. |

Hello guys I'm interested in travelling to the UK 3rd week in August to spend like 10 days. I have one online exam I do (which I can do from anywhere) but from past experience I perform best when I totally leave Nigeria and "camp myself" in a hotel in the UK fully studying 7 days before the exam. I enjoy the study without any distraction. The only 3 times I scored distinction in the courses, this was what I do. I returned in March shortly before the closure of airports after similar exercise (and I enjoyed the study). I'm planning booking my flight this or next week but I'm scared of the new protocols which are still unclear. I don't want to go through any serious stress. Is there some guidance yet on whether flying from Lagos to the UK would have been fully operational by August and whether coronavirus test will be required before leaving Nigeria or when one arrives in the UK, and whether I have to self-isolate in the UK for 2 weeks upon arrival? Any helpful development or guidance on these? Thanks UPDATE: I think I have found the answer here https://www.gov.uk/uk-border-control. The protocol is too demanding. Not sure it is worth is. Sad |

Jarus: You will be allowed to come into the hotel and you must not leave the hotel that you will stay for the first 14 days. Since your exam is online, then there is no problem. But the main issue is when coming back to Nigeria, when returning to Nigeria, you will be required to undergo a self-funded Covid-19 PCR test not less than five (5) days before departure from the UK and must be confirmed negative. More info is given here: http://www.nigeriahc.org.uk/uploads/news/UpdateGuidlines.pdf Why not go to an high class hotel in Lagos or Abuja with top tech internet facilities and limit your phone usage for ultimate concentration. There are many hotels of such. This is the best option. 1 Like |

Good day everyone, please can a parent and child schedule their visa appointments on different days or go individually to avoid paying the flexi fee? Will this lead to negative outcome for either of them ? |

Hi Everyone. Hope you are all well. I seriously think we should all start putting pressure on TLS contact to open their centers, especially on LinkedIn. Especially those of us that are waiting to apply for tier 2 visas to get to out jobs. I’ve been following Their page on LinkedIn, and whenever they post anything, South African applicants descend on the comment section, asking that they open the centers there. I think Nigerians waiting should do the same. Don’t know about all of you but I’m very frustrated. Let’s put the pressure on please. This is the link to their LinkedIn please comment in the comment section of their posts. https://www.linkedin.com/company/tlscontactofficiel 3 Likes 2 Shares |

Getmeout: I think we should tag @ukinNigeria, @ukhomeoffice and @pritipatel on twitter, go to the TLS Contact page on linkedIn and pressure them to reopen the VAC. My passport has been there since March. I am supposed to resume for a job since April. It’s getting frustrating. I pray my employer do not change their mind. |

plat0:Been writing code for about 6 years now. If you have no experience with coding I would suggest starting with html/css if web programming is your thing. If you have a little experience then you can start learning python or go to https://freecodecamp.org to start learning. |
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 4 by plat0: 7:02am On Jun 14, 2020 |
johnez1987:Thank you Sir. I'm done learning HTML/CSS, I used freecodecamp, MDN, and a course on udemy. I'm learning JavaScript at the moment with MDN and eloquent javascript. I see the job listings on SO every time I visit that platform, do prospective employers go through applicants profile on SO at least to ascertain a level of interactiveness or they use other metrics like github, and a portfolio website? Thanks. 1 Like |

plat0: You should build up your GitHub profile, portfolio if you are a frontend engineer. But more often than not you need to articulate your skills in your resume. |

johnez1987:Thank you sir, it has been proven that people move faster under the tutelage of one who has embarked on the journey in the past, I'd be grateful if you take me under your wings as a mentee so that I don't make avoidable mistakes on this journey I have decided to embark on. I'll be sending a DM, if you don't mind. Thank you. |
