Alexaonfleek: I opted for UI,I have been skeptical lately. I have seen lots of 310+,320+s flying around.. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by DharmieDhrey(m): 10:12am On Jun 14, 2020 |
Alexaonfleek: I prefer a federal university due to the fees and other factors. I just need to be mentored |

ThanosDr: UI..I have always wanted to study there but I've been considering other institutions lately(uniport,unical)... |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by ThanosDr: 10:23am On Jun 14, 2020 |
DharmieDhrey: UI is great but you have to be very ready. 300 should be seen as average. Most UI aspirants tend to be wounded lions. That is scholars who were shortchanged in one school or the other. And those who are brilliant and are ready to give their all to emerge among the best. As for the other schools if you are from their catchment you would be having a greater chance there. 3 Likes |

ThanosDr: Thanks ßoss.. I'm from the SouthSouth btw..scoring 300 is 50:50.. I was told someone had 297 and made it to the merit list last year.. |

Oluwaseun1995: Good day ẞoss... How's Uniport modality like? I know they write post UTME..and what was last year's cut off mark for MBBS? |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by ThanosDr: 10:51am On Jun 14, 2020 |
DharmieDhrey: Of course. The reason I said you should see it as average. That individual would have definitely made up a very few number of those that got in with less than 300. Don't get me wrong. Some individuals with 320 might not even get in this year at UI. But it's going to be rare given the advantage they already have over those below 300. If you stick with UI be ready for a much greater fight. Last year application portal for UI was leaked and the number of applicants with 300 plus were very many. I think over 1,000 and Mbbs got like 90% of the 300 scorers. This is a school that admits just over 3,000 persons in all. I'm not saying this to scare you. I just want you to weigh your options. No matter the score anybody has applying for mbbs I always warn against complacency. The fight is not over until you win (Putme). For the schools in the south, you would be eligible for merit, catchment and "connection". Though I will always tell you to aim for merit. You can't depend on your uncle that is a professor. Let your dependency be on God alone not man. I wish you all the best incoming doctor. PS: no matter the institution you choose never ever be complacent. Read as though it's a matter of life and death. All the best. 1 Like |

DharmieDhrey:You don't have to feel oppressed because of those scores you're seeing..UI will still take take up to 130 candidates into MBBS..I would have easily made UI's admission in 2017 if I had gotten the right information..With 300 you can easily make MBBS list in UI if you know the secrets.. UI's secret is LAMLARD biology, chemistry and physics. You can read A1 English. @pes13 who entered in 2017 said about 60-70 questions that came out were lifted directly from LAMLARD past questions..The exam literally was almost like solving past questions for him. Solve all the past questions in LAMLARD and you're 80% in. I applied the same trick the following year and I was admitted into MBBS in UNIBEN without stress. 2 Likes |

DharmieDhrey: UNIPORT doesn't make the cut off mark known to all, but we can always tell if one will be admitted, an average of 280 will place you on a safe ground for Medicine and Surgery... In fact, some of my mates that got admitted had 270+, so there are many factors involved. But try to score at least 280+ average to be assured of being on the merit list 1 Like |

DharmieDhrey:Which state are you from? That one is a major koko, especially if you're applying for any government owned uni in n Nigeria. I feel UI is a bit too competitive. 300 is a good score to compete with in UI,but go where you'd have an edge over other applicants. If you have good o level,I'd have recommended that you go to lasu. The fees there isn't too expensive. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by Alexaonfleek: 1:35pm On Jun 14, 2020 |
DharmieDhrey:And again, one thing about UI is that their cutoffs increase crazily as the year goes by. This 300 that you got would have gotten you a sure admission in UI,in the year 2017 and even 2018,as long as you get a decent score in postutme. But as at 2019,300+ didn't get admission into UI,even with decent postutme score, because they were 2 or 3 marks away from the cutoff. Like I said before,it's better you go where you have an edge over other applicants. 3 Likes |

chukwukapromise:lol....true though,I know some aspirant with 310+ and even 320+ last year that didn't make it up to merit list because post utme shenk them.while some people with 300 make it to merit list because they blast post utme. it depends on your level of preparation and ability to study smart instead of studying hard as far as UI post utme is concerned. |

DharmieDhrey:why u con dey chook eye for UI na? There are plenty good federal unis in the south south. uniben dey,uniport,unical..... Or maybe you have a personal reason why you prefer UI |

Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by MrEgghead(m): 3:08pm On Jun 14, 2020 |
DharmieDhrey:It's even 180 but UI is always conservative..UI takes less than 150 most times. |
Re: The medical students and aspirants thread by MrEgghead(m): 3:21pm On Jun 14, 2020 |
DharmieDhrey:Stick to UI..Don't choose LASU. Your state of Origin has little or no bearing in UI's admission..Study smart. Solve ALL LAMLARD past questions..Trust me, if you do your home work well, you'll be admitted.. And another thing, during the exam...Don't EVER start with English, especially the comprehension, I mean it. That was my greatest mistake ever that day..I wasted too much trying to finish English...I had not started physics at all when the invigilator signalled that we had only 10 minutes, I managed to solve some questions in physics and it wasn't enough.. Studying hard for an exam doesn't really translate to a success..one or two mistakes in the exam Hall may spell doom..if you're not courteous with your time, you may loose confidence and brain percussion may set in.... My greatest bane was "Comprehension passage". I missed out by 1.65 marks. UI uses that trick to distract and kill your time..Be wise! 2 Likes |
