Wait! Let me get this straight, there was a gunfight for over 2hours and I'm seeing just two dead BHTs?

Reports have it we had lost 9 soldiers on that fateful evening and here we are with two dead BHTs?

Our NAF are really trying no doubt, but we must begin to see more overwhelming fire power from air, I saw some BHTs standing arounding an engulfing truck from the video, some were even strolling, these are suppose to be dead men walking. The twin-barrel GSh-23V 23mm cannon with 450 to 470 rounds of ammunition on those helos should be maximally utilized.

lipsrsealed lipsrsealed lipsrsealed Nigeria my Country definitely someday it will get better.

This issue of Terrorism will last for a long time if we don't secure our border. They are too porous. We need to invest a lot of money on our border if We want to know peace in this Country .

How are the borders part of this insurgency issue. Is it that most of these weapons are crossing our borders into the hands of these terrorists? I need your input on this bro cool

His right!!!!
Infact it’s a BIG ISSUE.
Our borders are too wide and porous, easy to get in and sneak out. BHT use the advantage to lunch attacks from outside borders most times.

What do you think the Federal Government can do in solving this porous border issue?

When we talk of humvees l don't think anybody is talking about civilian variant buy the unarmoured Humvee.

As regard 14.5mm caliber bullets and or 12.7 even our MRAP will not stop that particular calibre.

Boko and ISWAP fighters in the main have light weapon indeed 95% + of thier fighter will have the ubiquitous AK47.

So if you have armoured vehicles you have effectively mitigated against 95% of the threat against you. Then you have to find away to deal with the gun trucks, Rpg7's and IED's.

That will reduce DRASTICALLY our casualty rate in the first instance.

Firstly, Our MRAP can stop 12.7mm. Ezugwu to be specific and I think ARA as well buh m not saying mrap should do the work of Armoured vehicles,,,jst stating the fact

Secondly, buying Humvees from US is a very bad idea, I would rather suggest locally made armoured vehicles or russian, and Chinese Armoured vehicles Cos US doesn't really support Nigeria in military terms, If its going to take them 6 years to supply us 12 tucanos while it took them just 2yrs to supply Brazil 24 tucanos..You should know they don't give a sh*t about us

Thirdly, We should also keep in mind the financial capability of the military which makes them to prioritize..I think the soldiers in northeast in general are more than 30,000 men which means we would need up to 3,000 or 6,000 vehicles depending on the capacity of the vehicle..The average cost of a decent armoured vehicle is up to $70k..

Lastly I hope you know that most of BH vehicles are Captured NA Hilux which means if you are trying to up the game of the soldiers in armour protection you might as well be uping the armour protection of BH..that may sound somehow buh it's the truth.

What I would suggest is for the army to invest in more infantry fighting vehicles that can engage BH as far 2km away thereby increasing the engagement distance between soldiers and the terrorists which limits the damage BH AK47(which you said 95% of the fighters Use) that cant go more than 400metres would cause to soldiers..

That is their modus operandi. Can we always sit duck and await their attacks due to their kind of modus operandi?

They followed through the Marte entrance and Monguno-Maiduguri entrance that even has a gate barricade and trench.

1) Those at the gate do they have communication gadget to know if a convoy approaching is that of the Military or ISWAP?

2) Do we need an Amoured tank or maybe some MRAPS to be stationed at such a gate? They killed some soldiers and CJTF at that gate same thing they did in January this year.

3) Is it allowed for Soldiers in the barracks to come out and engage them or the Soldiers have to wait till BH gets to the barracks. Some soldiers lost their lives trying to run from the various entry points back to the barracks.

4) should we build high towers for soldiers to observe convoys coming into the town from illegal routes? In Pulka for example Civilian JTF are stationed at the top of Some abandoned communication Mast. Once they notice movements they radio the Military to start firing Artillery towards that direction.

5) Do we need Helicopters for close mop-ups to ensure we not only smoke their vehicles but also smoke their lives?

The Nigeria Security heads should please sit up. We cannot continue sitting duck and popping champagnes after repelling these bastards.

We cannot be having same number of casualties between the our well trained Military and these dirty bastards.

The only way we can end insurgency for Good is to Effectively secure our borders..IF we deploy all the firepower in this world on them all of them will not die..They would always come back if the borders are still open..
I think the reason why the world is failing to end insurgency all around the world is because they are all fighting counterinsurgency like a conventional warfare...Secure the borders and they would run out of ammunition and weapons in weeks..

Weapons Cross in from Libya to ISWAP in Nigeria.
An evidence was a Suicide vehicle bomb In 2018 that was seen in Libya Months later Captured by the military in Nigeria the Exact same vehicle

I have said it before and we continue to say it, we need a very tall fence with deep ditch in front and behind around our northern borders.
We need to starve them out, no matter how many you kill, they will always recruit more. When potential recruits know that they will be facing hunger, poverty and suffering, they will think more than twice before joining.
The mistake we are making is thinking they are scared of death, they desire death on battlefield more ardently than you desire life, that is why they blow themselves up.
All those cattle rustled will be taken across the borders and will be sold in the markets of Niger, Chad, Cameron and even as far as Ghana. That is their major source of income.
Another source of income is tax collected from fishermen in the lake Chad region and from farmers. Those people have no choice than to pay for it,we need heavy military presence in that region, when those farmers and fishermen feel safe, they won't have any need to pay "tax" to bokoharam.
Once the border is closed, they won't be able to take kidnapped victims out of the country and demand Ransome, another source of revenue strangled.
Weapons won't be able to flow in and foreign fighters/recruits will find it extremely difficult to enter the country.
Toju200:
from what I see the equipment pass through the lake Chad region/area through Chad, Niger or Mali
First it's up to our neighbors to be on the look out cos the equipment won't just teleport into Nigeria
French military are in these countries I mentioned they have Reaper drones,mirage2000 and Rafael jets that's supposed to help Alot in this war sef
But to be sincere I haven't seen Their effectiveness at all.
We first make sure we pound the hell out of terrorist in LC then mount heavy border security ( NIS, Custom,NA) Then Drones with High loitering hours will be on ISR like Twice daily
Only fools will rely on neighbors for their own security. Our safety is our own responsibility, these countries you mentioned have a lot to gain from Nigeria being unstable.
Even if bokoharam gets tanks from Libya or anywhere else, it is our own duty to make sure that the don't enter Nigeria with it.
They've entered already, we need to make sure that more do not enter while we finish off the ones that are already in.
If we don't build a fence, we will continue buying more sophisticated weapons, they will continue adapting and troops will keep on complaining that they don't have enough weapons. We didn't have the gunships before, they came in, wrecked havoc and the terrorists adapted, they've not really changed the situation on ground beyond killing more terrorists. If we are not careful, we will keep killing and our boys will be getting killed for years to come.

Drones are very expensive to keep in the air especially with a defense budget like ours, tall fences too are impractical, because there are some border communities that are split in 2 by artificial borders, courtesy of the Brits and the franks, Geo spatial technology is the only practical way we can police our borders, even the minister of interior alluded to it

The wall doesn't even have to be concrete or brick or any other expensive thing. It could just be Hesco filled with sand. Very cheap and will serve the same function but if we are serious about security, we should go for steel reinforced concrete. Very expensive but will last for years.

But really the military top brass, handling this war, need to tell their stories, in such a way, that the stories/words...correspond with pictures, we aren't averse to seeing destroyed and dead pictures.....bht, do much better PR, they pay attention to details and their propaganda always leaves an effect, but our military makes you ask more questions and guess, because most times the storyline doesn't go with pictures.

I must admitted the military had been stingy with info, but now they realize that PR win wars, but it's unfortunate that the information release by the military has always been met with suspicion by the Nigerian media, and her citizens, BHT don't even havee to stress, drop a video and in no time it's on Sahara reporter's page, always from their 'sources' it has it's 'desired' effect because bad news sales better.

Some efforts are underway but they are slow..For example there is a deal between FG and Hawaei to provide and install systems that would be able to monitor about half of our borders such that they can be viewed live even from Abuja..
They are constructing FOBs for immigration or customs m not sure at the border areas..4 bases are currently in operation while 14 are under construction...
The programs have started since last year buh I don't know when the would be completed..

People don't just trust the government, even with Covid-19 cases talk less more of a war that some people want the government to be humiliated in. Have you forgotten 2013/2014 when we used to have 300,600, 750 bht dead grin
