Yes,
Atta Mills's time they did all the feasibility studies for mono-rail transport but was later paused.
Mahama's time they tried building the Light-rail but loss the election.
And this Government is trying to continue.
We just hope they start it.

Mahama got big dreams. His projects are of higher standard. I am sure he would have finished the project by now.

You don't get it. The interest capping bill was very popular - because banks (like everywhere) were charging people Ghana like interest - well not exactly that bad - but sometimes 20% -

Now gov has attempted to repeal this without success since it got passed in 2016. The interest capping bill had been popular since 1995 but never saw the light until the gov was cornered in the election year of 2017 - and bankers finally lost.

Anyway 3 yrs later - credit growth didn't happen - as Banks bought gov debt instead of lending to risky sectors. The real estate suffered as you saw cement consumption dropped from 6.7M to 6.5M and now about 6M.

There was a court case too by CBK to contest it - and eventually, the Supreme Court of Kenya, ruled it unconstitutional for interfering with Central Bank's independent mandate to set monetary policies.

So in 2019 - Gov brought in amendments as part of the budget/financial bill amendment.

Mps rejected it - and it went to the president - and the president vetoed the financial bill - and it was brought to parliament.

For parliament to overturn the president vetoe of any bill - they need 2/3 of parliament.

They failed in one controversial voting where gov basically used all tricks - and president vetoe won - interest capping was repealed.

It was not going to be easy to repeal such a popular law.

Just30:
so basically it hasn't been repealed because your national Assembly could not raise a 2/3rd majority to overturn it.

You are still insisting that hydraulic cement is not another name for portland cement smiley. The only reason they are not calling portland is because in the developed world - they are rarely sold in 50kg bags like Ghana or Kenya - but most as pre-mix - the cement companies sell either concrete or mortar - they do the mixing at factory.

Back to GHANA cement consumption.

As of 2016 - US estimates you were doing 4M metric tonnes. In 2019 my own calculation came to around 5.1M tonnes.

Kenya has solid data lasting from 1963 to the highest precision.

soon we will have 2017, 2018 and 2019 data....

Otherwise cement consumption would show up in Accra or Kumasi or TEMA...there is nothing there
.

Except if cement consumption were all about highrise I dosage completely on the emboldened.

All the leaders has positive and well thought out idea to revamp the country. I have taken time to study their initiative. It is just that they are weary in executing it . Probably trying not to tied the country with too much future debt .

This current administration is piloting a very successful social infrastructure , the past one was very interested in physical infrastructure.. all boiled down to what matter to each political interest .

This is a current plan . Hope it is executed soonest.

The Banks have behaved so far but if they start charging 20% - the bill will be brought back. How Ghana and Nigeria survive with a 25-30% loan is beyond me.

Yes the building is built by Africa's richest black woman...heck I mean the world richest black woman...

By raising prices while limiting the participation of foreign retailers in the retail market.
There by creating enough buffer and a sizeable market for players.

Producers usually get their loans lesser.

The problem is not the competition. Our banking sector is free - and any player can come in. We have 45 banks.

The problem is dealing with defaults in a country where collaterals protection is weak. Title deed in kenya are wrought with graft - so if you fund someone to build a house - and you end up with useless title deed.

And then worse our court case is bogged down with huge case backlog - resolving any dispute will take years.

So this is what hails our banking sector.

As for Ghana - GOD HELP YOU: The macro-economics are SCREWED.

Nothing to see here... Just a regular Kenyan senator flying in chopper style to commission a classroom. wink

Kenyan Senator, Kithure Kindiki was elected into the country's parliament first in 2013 and served as the majority leader of the Senate. Shortly after winning his reelection bid in 2007, he was made the deputy senate speaker, a position he held until he was impeached in May of 2020.

The extravagant politician who even moves around in an helicopter literally abused his people and particularly the populace by helping to build a single class room block made of mud. Because he flew in a helicopter just only to help with a construction a mud classroom for a mud school in 2018.

Lol the last paragraph is so funny.

Too bad for you

We dont much of a court challenge so businesses do not have those limits.

We have a lands issue and land cases can take years to resolved but if you need issue free lands, you can easily get them.

As for our macro economics, they are not much of an issue since everything in economics have a cascading effect which can be both good and bad.
