Please don't buy. That engine is the definition of trouble. Turbo issues, HPFP issues, water pump issues.

Buy a 530i instead.

it exists doesn't mean it happens to everyone. If you followed all the problems that exist in that G35 of yours, you wouldn't buy it. Every car has its own issue. How you maintain your car is key.

No issue happens to everyone. The E60 M5 had a penchant for throwing rods. Happens to most cars, but I bet there are some people it's never happened to.

All it means is that it's statistically a lot more likely to happen than not.

Edit: To be exact, my car has its fair share of issues. It eats brake pads like nothing else. Leather peels. It's gas-thirsty. The key is knowing what faults you can live with.

255 reported cases out of hundreds of thousands of cars sold is an insignificant percentage, for example. Go on Bimmer forums and see what owners complain about.

There are still a whole lot of BMW users who are enjoying their rides of which I'm one. Some people have tranny issues on G35 and then make a generalisation that all G35s have tranny problem. Then tell people don't buy. That's wrong. Maintenance is always key. Simple. Use right parts and lubricants, take proper care of the car and most things will be well. For your car brakes, check your calipers. They are stuck. In the long run, may condemn your transmission. This issue will also increase the fuel consumption, though your ride is a thirsty ride.

Go for the BMW. The only problem is that hot-vee engine. The engineers situated the turbo charger between the cylinder banks and that would damage the engine if you don't allow your car to idle for at least 15 minutes after spirited driving. Many BMW drivers don't know this and keep complaining about how unreliable the N63 engine is.

This engine is also used on the 2012 X5 and newer, 7 series and the latest x7 SUV so getting replacement parts won't be a problem. My advice is to avoid roadside mechanics

You allow the cooling system to lower the temperature and it's not for only BMWs, it's for any car with a turbocharged engine. Even if your car is not turbocharged, it is wise to do the same thing

30 seconds of idle and I would have said well, it's okay - what can possibly go wrong? But 15 mins is a lot of time to allow an engine idle and waste fuel after driving (even if it was driven into the evil forest and back to the land of the living). I've tried to avoid making a comment with regards to the absurd "15 minutes" idle wait since I saw your first post, but the moment you generalized it in your last post, yep I was done with keeping quiet!

Funny how a quick informed Google search says otherwise. Might as well read a book while waiting for your turbo to cool down.

The turbos build up a lot of heat and you don't want it trapped in the wrong places after you shut down the engine. This is one of the major reasons turbos fail

I understand your position perfectly, only thing I still maintain is having to wait that long for my car to cool down will be plain torture! A quarter hour sitting in a car doing nothing? I'd have listed the car for sale on nairaland or jiji within that time frame. If it's any consolation, I have never been a fan of turbos or superchargers. Had a horrible experience with a Range Rover that almost sent us back to the Village. Story for another day!

Please always allow your turbocharged engine to idle especially after spirited driving. I won't get tired of posting this here because BMW drivers love to step on it.

I have this notion that any BMW driving under the speed limit has an issue/problem, their drivers do not show mercy.
