from the comments here, its obvious we now have a young generation of educated illiterates and its no fault of anybody but theirs because they don't read very wide. I now know why my Dad back then forced me to read the daily newspapers. Ignorance about the country you live in is truly a disease.

Imagine folks thinking it was NBET was a betting company, omo wahala dey grin

Nobody knows NBET or you don't know about it.When you say NBET is useless, it shows how ignorant you are of the power sector. Well, the industry is not for everyone sha. NBET is the body that acts as intermediary between GENCOS and DISCOS in electricity procurement and trading through PPAs and Vesting contracts. Without them, the Discos are too illiquid to pay for electricity upfront.

NBET is very important. They are the ones who act as the go between for the distribution companies and govt. They control how much electricity is sold to the discos which also impacts how much electricity you get as the end user.

So Buhari decided to appoint another Fulani man as NBET Managing Director.
We will not take it
I am sure he couldn’t find a worthy Igbo man to replace the igbo woman that was removed.
Igbo’s have been marginalized.
We want Biafra Republic now

Very true...though my problem with NBET is that it's existence means that technically speaking there is a 'subsidy' on power...which makes it difficult for DISCOS and GENCOS to raise funds.

Then you do not know fully what NBET stands to solve. I wonder how NBET's existence translate to subsidy, much more when our market is not mature for a willing-buyer-willing-seller yet, how do you think all the dumping Discos resorted to when they could not take all power from GENCOs are resolved ?

The discos always default on payment. They claim the prices we currently pay are not market driven.

The FG put that link to keep the sector going. A sort of subsidy.

I think it is more of guarantee than subsidy. NERC on the other hand are the subsidy agent. The Discos ab-initio were not financially competent to run, they never wanted to invest in metering but wanted to keep collecting funds from customers under the estimated billing cycle.

Power cannot stored. Once produced must be off-taken. NBET is that plug that guarantee that power produced is paid for hence GENCOS can continue to produce. They are a temporary arrangement till market parity is attained

Is it just me or Agboola Gambari seems to favour Igbos since he mounted the saddle. First replaced SE with SE in neco, then appointed NOI to replace NC at WTO. Now, he's replacing SS with SE at NBET. Meanwhile he's yet to do anything of note for the Yorubas.
Prolly living up to his reputation as an Abacha man.

You're correct. It's more like a securities and exchange centre not a subsidy agency.

Dude, believe me, your too uptight. You need to lighten up a bit. Stop walking around like you've got a stick way up your azz. This life is too simple and short to be taken too seriously.

Seriously, I don't even gamble. I just made a little comic relief with a bite of sarcasm and your all over my case calm down.

Another thing guy I'm no kid, so please speak with me with atleast a little pinch of respect.

Thank you.
