Ladies and Gents in the house; I’m fvcked! Computer science is a wonderful course home and abroad. The good thing is I’m good at logic and maths but computer science wasn’t the course I aspired for in my secondary school days. After trying for the second time I was admitted into Computer science department in FUTO. Ever since then, I feel frustrated. I’m currently on a 3.51CGPA but That’s because I’m a very hardworking student. I know about different branches of my course but the problem is I don’t know what I need to learn, I don’t love the course, I only believe I’m here for a purpose which I don’t know yet. I’ve researched online and I understand “Software development” is the most lucrative, but we know Our beloved country always has a different approach to everything.

Thanks for your reply sir. In the school I am now, I have to be very honest with you; Most of the things we do are theoretical, even in my 300l. It’s painful sir that I have no confidence of learning any of these from my Uni. How do you reckon I can learn this on a moderate budget? Cos we no too hold bars like dat

Last year i took the EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker certification course, now am preparing for the OSCP from offensive security the creators of Kali Linux. If i get my OSCP i can get a job anywhere because there's a shortage of security professionals worldwide up to 80% deficit.

At this stage, I will advise you put your heart into getting the most from every area you are taught in school. Like someone said, you can go to YouTube, download articles, visit websites, and get involved in real-world projects. Once you have a laptop and access to internet, you can do a lot for free. They pay off when you get into the labor market or industry. I did a couple courses in computer science and scored A in both courses but I couldn't run a program. In the past few years, I have done lots of personal development and I can program in some languages, machine learning, deep learning etc.

With time, you will find out what area you want to specialize. Some of the jobs I got were because of the variety of the computer related stuff I know including programming languages.

What you need to do is start learning some soft skills, there are lots of them that are related to computer science eg

Data science
Big Data
AI
Ethical hacking
Coding
etc.

Just go online and research, if you want to go into any of these courses professionally a good place to start will be

I'm a Computer Science student. I spend at least on hour daily reading about the course on quora. I'll recommend you also do that.

My advice is for you to research on different careers in Computer Science and then make your choice to develop your skills in one. CS is wide and you have a lot of options depending on your skill set.
