The fear of investing in the real sector of the economy is not really because of the state of the economy, afterall many lebanesse, Indians and FDI still come in. It is beyond that. DexterousOne: 1 Like |

Theconglomerate:The real sector is actually commitinh some funds to the streets Production Agric All that good stuff The purchasing power of most Nigerians have been decimated, so who will then buy Except u are going into essentials But that one sef is crowded and jam packed 1 Like |

Very few Nigerians can really do business if you ask me. Those who succeed immediately go into preservation mode which is why we have SUKUK, TB and Bonds oversubscribed. Then there is also the safe haven of real estate, but when it comes to real production (not trading), only the very brave Nigerians are bold enough to try which is the void that Indians and Lebanese come to fill. DexterousOne:Do your own and grow, crowd wouldn't matter if you know what you are doing. Trading Business is very simple; 1)Identify good product that can sell. 2) Go to the overall source and buy. 3)Get better position to establish and be committed to it. 4)Sell good price. If you have these, you must grow. You don't just jump and start manufacturing, you must start from trading so you will know what has demand enough to be produced or not. 3 Likes |

ojesymsym: Lmao These indians coming here seek expansion into new grounds really They have succeeded elsewhere most of the times You cant compare the two Growing up in Nigeria puts you in what I call the "cesspool of negativity" and that is why we are always on "preservation mode" like you have said To most Nigerians It's a daily fight out of poverty And a fight not to return to poverty That's why we are all playing safe I domt know if you get me 7 Likes |

DexterousOne:Well yeah, trading is very hard and you have to be updated to always be ahead of your competitors. It's a long term business, something you must commit 10 years plus to succeed. I did not say it was easy, but it's worth it in the long run if you care. |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by ojesymsym: 11:13pm On Jun 17, 2020 |
I agree with you. The point I am making is that it is not really just the state of the economy. Someone here said he would leave his house unrented the other day because of tenant wahala, house that he built with his money. That decision was not made because of the state of the economy. The bolded is true. Mindset issues. DexterousOne: |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by DexterousOne(m): 11:19pm On Jun 17, 2020 |
ojesymsym: The mindset issue o It's very very problematic for us Hope we will break free one day There are no structure in place No safety net Every man for himself Dog eat dog So after hustling sweat and blood .and I accumulate a small portfolio of N26.7m You expect that person to be adventurous? When there is high risk of losing it all?... And no mild credit facilities (the banks credit here is killing ) So what do you want em to do The indian have access to credit 6 Likes |
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Theconglomerate(m): 11:28pm On Jun 17, 2020 |
ojesymsym:Well, trading is very good if you know the business well. They own the markets and dictate to manufacturers most of the time, unless a smarter and very rich manufacturer comes into play and change the music for them. Na traders dey determine whether your product will sell or not and are most times richer than you. So be careful before you try to talk them down. Diageo and pernod-ricard are both trading companies that went on acquiring spree buying out their manufacturers and turn them to boy-boy! 4 Likes |

Of course trading makes more money than actual producers. The price a farmer sells his basket of tomatoes in faraway North is probably the same price of a few kgs in Shoprite. If production was easy we would have many oil maguls building refineries, not importing products and collecting subsidies. If you have funds today you can start trading immediately whereas for production, you would have to tie money down building your factory. Then there is the issue of power to contend with. So yes I know the advantages of trading Theconglomerate: 1 Like |
