There has been a sudden surge in teen pregnancies in Kenya over a period of five months and is now threatening to cut short the goal for education among school-going young girls.

Machakos county, which is located in the north eastern province in Kenya is leading several other counties in terms of teenage pregnancies in Kenya according to Kenya Health Information System survey.

Reports of the data shows that a total of 3,964 girls aged 19 years and below were reported pregnant within that period.

Machakos County Children Officer Salome Muthama said the pregnancy cases among school girls are actually under reported.

“During this coronavirus pandemic we do have 4000 impregnated girls. These are so many innocent girls,” she said.

She further explained that most of the cases were as a result of defilement and abuse by close family members of the girls.

She adds that roughly about 200 of these girls are aged 14 years and below.

“How can a 12 year old girl become a mother?” she posed.

“All the people who have impregnated these children needs be arraigned but it is becoming a challenge. We need special court sittings to address and deal with these cases,” Salome appealed.

First of all, I am a partial indigene of Lagos state, born in Lagos, grew up in Lagos and currently live in Lagos state hence a novice like you who only learnt about Lagos state on the pages of news paper knows nothing.

The place you are talking about is called bar breach in V/I and it was full of shanties for bar joint, bukker, etc before it was demolished by the government.

Not far from it is the ocean view, a club, where I used to relax back in those days with boys.

I know that place very well and I can tell you the place Eko Atlantic is currently located in just a tiny fraction of the whole place called Eko Atlantic city. That place didn't exist as at the time I went around that area except you want to tell me that you are one of the mammy water living in that place because it was a SEA.

A sea that drowned and killed people anyhow. Yes! It was a SEA nobody could live in but the goverment decided to reclaim and turn it into a city on its own. The same way the government decided to turn Abuja into a city from a bush.

So, what is a foreigner like you business if they decided so? Abi you be our government? Someone like you who is a nobody in Ghana can't come and tell us how we decide things here.

Go and contest for one tangible position in your country before you start porking your noise in what is beyond your reasoning.

Get this into your brain. Eko Atlantic city is not under any city in Lagos state.

Around 2012 or so I got to know about Eco City,.
I watched a documentary on it and I saw them reclaiming the sea and how those molded concretes where used to support and all that.
Later I watched another which showed the whole planning, constructing roads, sewage system and all that.
To cut a long story short, I have been monitoring the whole show of ECO City so don't think you are giving me any new information I didn't know.
Even Abuja, I watched documentaries of it.. Calling ECO Atlantic a city doesn't make it a separate city from Lagos because it was build within Lagos City.
Abuja and eco are two separate things so don't mix it up..
