Stop the delusion. You're the world poverty capital.

1) Half of Nigerians live in Extreme poverty (spend less than a dollar a day per person) -About 90 million people - roughly half Nigeria's population - live in extreme poverty, according to estimates from the World Data Lab's Poverty Clock.

2) About 140m - live in normal poverty (they spend below 2 dollars a day).

In 2018 - you overtook India (a country of 1.4B) - to become -wait for it - the poverty capital of the world

lastly, if the UN ever gets reformed in the security council, who are those from Africa you think are likely to fill up that position?

Focus on your poverty, illiteracy, disease (polio?), malnutrition and terrorism esp in your entire north of the coutnry. Kenya is making tremendous progress in dealing with issues. We just moved 10M people out of poverty last decade - and we are moving 1m every year. So by 2030 - we will probably have very few poor people. Nigeria - you're doing the opposite.

Application service capabilities is what matters for a real satellite.
Otherwise Add one PV Solar cell for power, Attach to a radio transmitter(Like you have in AM/ FM radio transistor) and call this a satellite.

Secondary level students in Japan, India, China, US do that every year that too in hundreds of numbers.

Application is what matters and decides whether is it eligible to call a real "Satellite" or not,
Remember Sputnik 1? First Man made satellite just sending few radio pulses in every few 24 hours. If you consider that as "Satellite" in today's times than No argument. Even students from chad or Somalia can do that.

NIGERIA LOOKS TO THE SKIES

What is the Nigerian space program? Developed countries that have invested in outer space are now at the forefront of influencing the global economy. Even developing countries such as Brazil, China, and India have achieved enormous leverage through the use of space technology, with appreciable impacts on national development, especially in the areas of communication, food security, and resource management. Nigeria is an active member of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, with participation in Legal and Scientific and Technical Subcommittees. It supports in totality the Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines of the Committee and the IADC Space Debris Mitigation Guidelines.

In recognition of the role and relevance of space science and technology to national development, Nigeria declared its space ambition to the Economic Commission for Africa and Organization of African Unity member countries during an intergovernmental meeting in Addis Ababa in 1976. However, this declaration did not evolve into a space program. Nevertheless, in 1987, the National Council of Ministers’ approved the establishment of a National Centre for Remote Sensing. Within the same year, the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology constituted a National Committee on Space Applications.

This was followed in 1993 by the establishment of the Directorate of Science by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI). The mandate of the directorate included space science and technology. NASENI later constituted a nine-person committee of experts that produced a draft national space science and technology policy. Based on the draft policy, the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) was established on May 5, 1999, with the clear mandate to “vigorously pursue the attainment of space capabilities as an essential tool for the socio-economic development and the enhancement of the quality of life of Nigerians”.

The Nigerian space program is managed by the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA). The space policy was approved in May 2000. The mandate of the agency as encapsulated in the policy is to vigorously pursue the attainment of space capabilities as an essential tool for the socioeconomic development of the nation and the enhancement of the quality of life for Nigerians.

For a space program to be sustainable in emerging space-faring countries, there is a need to develop and implement a space economic development model. The space economic model adopted in Nigeria is the public-private partnership model that involves the short-, medium-, and long-term plans. Within the short-term plan, the government is responsible for all investments in space technology development. In the medium-term, the government implements the partial commercialization of NASRDA’s products and services developed during the short-term economic development plan. In the long-term plan, the government partners with the private sector to implement the public-private partnership framework for the space program.

After the establishment of research centers of excellence, the federal government of Nigeria in 2006 approved the 25-year strategic roadmap for space research and development in Nigeria. Some of the major benchmarks of the roadmap were as follows: to produce a Nigerian astronaut by 2015; to launch a satellite manufactured in Nigeria by 2018; and to launch a satellite manufactured in Nigeria from a launch site in Nigeria on a launch vehicle made in Nigeria by 2025.

i love alaro city. Infact, probably more than you do cuz I'm always on the website looking and admiring the project and how fast it's going.

Let me tell you alar

Tatu city is a satellite city. Rendevour, just like that other project put in just 250million USD to build infrastructure then it allows developers to boulder what they want. Same with alaro city, which is the city I like to compare Tatu city with.

While eko Atlantic a mega city spent 6billion USD to build nfrastructure and some of the towers there cost 250 million to build.

Even with the first phase completed yet it still looks ugly like every thing else in Kenya...heck I would prefer those forest houses in Karen over the ugly red and white 30 buildings of about 5 ugly floors....
Obviously Alaro would be more modern and world class than this....so sad that we share the same investors but different taste in world class development....

I hope you know that drone didn't fly exclusive locations like Dangote (global richest black man),Adenuga's(2nd global richest black man),Folarin Alakija(global richest black woman),Tinubu...you drink can go near this people's roof...this guys have their own location tucked somewhere from the rest in Banana island..

Yeah it looks like a construction site same way Eko Atlantic will look if you fly a drone over in about 10-15years time...heck same way Dubai looks most especially in place where new development is springing up with lands here and there..e.g Dubai marina....
Expect to see less greenery, open lands here and there mixed with both completed and uncompleted buildings...
Greenery has never been a Lagos thing, limited land space and rapid urbanisation is to blame for that...if you want greenery then head to Abuja, port Harcourt, uyo just to mention a few....

Did you just say Banana island should be like mombassa best Neighbourhoods which is Nyali...Nigga pls, that a National insult.....And did you also compare that ugly greek-like, typical anthen house with lesser taste in luxury with the DAvido's masterpiece apartment in Banana island.....You could literally see that attention to details was properly taken in to consideration (automated curtains, touch sensitive shower and all that)..heck most of the appliance , furniture, are from top global brands...like Bosch, Versace e.t.c....

Now this is your Nyali...you must be high in early morning urine to mention Nyali and Banana island in the same sentence..
.

yes. and i am impressed by what they did. they have hosted the best world cup as far as glamour and glitz are concerned.
and as far as i am concerned too. this is despite the usual western propaganda against developing nations for trying something big.
i know the level of bad press being given by the likes of global media in the run up to that world cup.

however, we should have been the ones to host that tournament had it been the opportunity came in the the 90's when there was still a good national orientation among Nigerians not now that there is wide spread cynicism and intense pessimism among the people. and they think they are being smart. the only way Nigeria can solve its infrastructure problems is if she attempts to host a major world tournament like the olympic games.
i have noticed we wake up when there is international eyes on us. you won't want to disappoint. if we had hosted the world cup in 2010, our roads would have been fixed. our trains would have been fixed long ago before now. our airports would have given been upgraded.
a lot of the infrastructure SA has today were put in place when they hosted the world cup. the good thing there is the fact that these infrastructures last long for you and i to use. it can become our own share of the national cake.

Before world cup

SA had good roads
SA had stadiums
SA had world class hotels
SA had BRT
SA had good infrastructure

For thethe world cup i think we built 4 new stadiums andand Gautrain

Yeah I have visited that site some Months back when I first heard of it and this mere residential project is nothing new to me...you had your opportunity with Tatu to build a world class environment but you missed used that opportunity and built something that is relatively close to those houses Uhuru built in kibera..the only difference is the colour...

Like I say talk is cheap..go on your knees and pray Kenya gets to half the modernity Eko Atlantic is operating on....
Now that's the true definition of world class, first world futuristic smart city...
