Should Christian Follow The Teaching Of The Old Testament. by Blackmoran(m): 10:21am On Jun 20, 2020 |
Hi, I have always have this view about the old testament, how the teachings and stories are extreme, brutal, selfish and violent, and a lot of injustice. Examples of this was the story of job who was righteous with God but was made to suffer for doing nothing but rather to just test is faith, stories of wars Israelite taking over cities in the name of God. You know what am saying when you read the old testament its kind of barbaric a lot of sacrifice and killings for the most stupid things there is no different between the old testament and what most extreme terrorist are doing now.. In my opinion i Really think the old testament should be separated from Christian teaching. The only time we need the old testament is for the purpose of chronology and ancestry trace... |

Blackmoran: Kai! Why do Nigerians never know and never understand? When will you learn Judgements and Sound Reasonings? Seeing that you do not know nor understand, so how then can you speak so Ignorantly and wickedly come to the conclusion you foolishly arrived at? I would have enlightened you but now I am Angry. Therefore, seeing that you have come to this wicked conclusion, then we would allow you live with it, which also means that you should not have bothered us in making this post, and therefore you are entitled to do away with the old Testament in your own Bible, as is in your power to do. Who answer for it, is it not You Alone? |

Dtruthspeaker:so Christians should believe in the doctrine of an eye for an eye, cause that's what most of the stories proclaim in the old testament, and Jesus teaching is against that..... |

Re: Should Christian Follow The Teaching Of The Old Testament. by Dtruthspeaker: 3:49pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
Blackmoran: Yes, to Isreal at that time and No to Everyone Today.! Why yes to Isreal at that Time? Because as Declared to Abraham, God's Plan was to use his family to Cleanse the world of all evil! And House Abraham having Cleansed themselves of all evil and Promising Not to do evil, became a Holy Nation, with God being there Ruler and Moses and Aaron being his physical Administrators. Look at all the laws, are they not designed to purge the earth of all evil? Which evil that men do or are capable of doing that is Not Prohibited? On one hand, while on the other, did He not Command the Very Many Good things that man can do to each other to Guarantee that His Goodness Fills the earth? That was God's Plan for us, but typically of man we always Ruin His Good Plans and now today the same Yous who spoilt his plans and do evil are now the ones calling Him evil. |

The old testament or Hebrew scriptures was written and composed by the Jews for their religion called Judaism.. It is not for the whole world... It is the Romans who after creating Christianity stole it and added it at the back of their own scriptures... The two are hostile to one another.. The heart and soul of the old testament is the Torah which details the laws God gave the Jews 613 mitzvah and 7 for the rest of humanity...nobody has the power or right to change God's laws.. They are supposed to last forever... The Torah is the way, the truth and the life.. A lamp for our path.. The new testament is a failed on arrival attempt at replacement theology... |

Blackmoran: For starter, virgins don't give birth.. The Jews don't have the idea of God mating with human.. Those are Greek /Roman mythologies.. As per the problem of sin, God already gave a solution in 2nd Chronicles 7 :14. He never through any prophet say the Messiah was going to be a sacrifice for sin.. He abhors human sacrifice, it is an abomination to him.. In other to discredit the Jews and use propaganda to say they are the new Israelites.. But they are not.. The Messiah God promised the Jews was a normal human from the line of David through Solomon his son as genealogy is only transferred from father to son... He will bring peace between Israel and his neighbors.. That is how they will recognise the Messiah, not through miracle or rising from the dead.. |
Re: Should Christian Follow The Teaching Of The Old Testament. by Daejoyoung: 6:39pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
sonmvayina:So virgins don't give birth, but snakes and donkeys can talk? God abhors human sacrifice but allows reckless animal sacrifices for sin? Besides many Christians do not understand the sacrifice of jesus as a human sacrifice. Jesus was a normal human being, and through his teachings and his faith, Israel( and by extension the world) would have peace. |
Re: Should Christian Follow The Teaching Of The Old Testament. by CodeTemplar: 7:02pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
The answer is Yes and No. [YES]Christians should follow the ones that haven't been overridden by newer commandments or ordinances. [NO]Christians shouldn't follow those that have been overridden. I can give example if necessary. |
Re: Should Christian Follow The Teaching Of The Old Testament. by CodeTemplar: 7:07pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
Daejoyoung:Some commandment have been overridden. Example is blood for sin. We passed the Mosaic dispensation long ago and now under the blood of Jesus dispensation. Jesus' blood has covered our sin as we accept him and no need for one-man-one-lamb or one-house-one-lamb. |

Re: Should Christian Follow The Teaching Of The Old Testament. by sonmvayina(m): 7:48pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
Daejoyoung: How do they understand it?... And when are we supposed to have this peace? So if Jesus is a normal man with a father and mother? How did he become God? |

CodeTemplar:How does this your analogy apply? |
Re: Should Christian Follow The Teaching Of The Old Testament. by Daejoyoung: 8:12pm On Jun 20, 2020 |
sonmvayina:The sacrifice of jesus was not human sacrifice in thesame way the sacrificial death of a leader for the birth of his new nation cannot be termed as human sacrifice. jesus is a normal man, jesus is God because he possessed the Spirit of God in fullness ( without measure) to represent God on earth, the spirit that created the world from the beginning. We now have the spirit but only jesus had the spirit without measure then ( it became his own spirit, so you can speak of jesus as though you were referring to God). In the world to come we would all become gods like jesus too. |

Blackmoran: The Kindom of God runs on revealed principles . The principles of God are consistent . Some principles are revealed before the law . From the call of Abraham . Some principles are revealed in the law . And some after the law . So you can’t entirely throw away The entirety of the content of the law Because some principles are revealed in the law which are still valid today |

Blackmoran: The OT is part of Christianity. That is the foundation upon which all teachings in NT were built. You can't remove the house foundation and still have the house standing. |

They only follow the ones talking about tithes. These are amongst the OT verses you're referring to right? warning:graphic content EX 17:13 With the Lord's approval, Joshua mows down Amalek and his people. EX 21:20-21 With the Lord's approval, a slave may be beaten to death with no punishment for the perpetrator as long as the slave doesn't die too quickly. EX 32:27 "Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor. EX 32:27-29 With the Lord's approval, the Israelites slay 3000 men. LE 26:7-8 The Lord promises the Israelites that, if they are obedient, their enemies will "fall before your sword." When thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee. 22 But if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee. 23 That which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the Lord thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth. 24 When thou comest into thy neighbour's vineyard, then thou mayest eat grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not put any in thy vessel. 25 When thou comest into the standing corn of thy neighbour, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand; but thou shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbour's standing corn. |

BeLookingIDIOT: You will not see If a man marries a woman who becomes displeasing to him because he finds something indecent about her, and he writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, 2 and if after she leaves his house she becomes the wife of another man, 3 and her second husband dislikes her and writes her a certificate of divorce, gives it to her and sends her from his house, or if he dies, 4 then her first husband, who divorced her, is not allowed to marry her again after she has been defiled. That would be detestable in the eyes of the Lord. Do not bring sin upon the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance. 5 If a man has recently married, he must not be sent to war or have any other duty laid on him. For one year he is to be free to stay at home and bring happiness to the wife he has married. 7 If someone is caught kidnapping a fellow Israelite and treating or selling them as a slave, the kidnapper must die. You must purge the evil from among you. 10 When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, do not go into their house to get what is offered to you as a pledge. 11 Stay outside and let the neighbor to whom you are making the loan bring the pledge out to you. 12 If the neighbor is poor, do not go to sleep with their pledge in your possession. 13 Return their cloak by sunset so that your neighbor may sleep in it. Then they will thank you, and it will be regarded as a righteous act in the sight of the Lord your God. 14 Do not take advantage of a hired worker who is poor and needy, whether that worker is a fellow Israelite or a foreigner residing in one of your towns. 15 Pay them their wages each day before sunset, because they are poor and are counting on it. Otherwise they may cry to the Lord against you, and you will be guilty of sin. 16 Parents are not to be put to death for their children, nor children put to death for their parents; each will die for their own sin. 17 Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless of justice, or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge. 18 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the Lord your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this. 19 When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the work of your hands. 20 When you beat the olives from your trees, do not go over the branches a second time. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. 21 When you harvest the grapes in your vineyard, do not go over the vines again. Leave what remains for the foreigner, the fatherless and the widow. 22 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt. That is why I command you to do this. 25 When people have a dispute, they are to take it to court and the judges will decide the case, acquitting the innocent and condemning the guilty. 2 If the guilty person deserves to be beaten, the judge shall make them lie down and have them flogged in his presence with the number of lashes the crime deserves, 3 but the judge must not impose more than forty lashes. If the guilty party is flogged more than that, your fellow Israelite will be degraded in your eyes. 4 Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain. 5 If brothers are living together and one of them dies without a son, his widow must not marry outside the family. Her husband’s brother shall take her and marry her and fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to her. 6 The first son she bears shall carry on the name of the dead brother so that his name will not be blotted out from Israel. 7 However, if a man does not want to marry his brother’s wife, she shall go to the elders at the town gate and say, “My husband’s brother refuses to carry on his brother’s name in Israel. He will not fulfill the duty of a brother-in-law to me.” 8 Then the elders of his town shall summon him and talk to him. If he persists in saying, “I do not want to marry her,” 9 his brother’s widow shall go up to him in the presence of the elders, take off one of his sandals, spit in his face and say, “This is what is done to the man who will not build up his brother’s family line.” 10 That man’s line shall be known in Israel as The Family of the Unsandaled. 11 If two men are fighting and the wife of one of them comes to rescue her husband from his assailant, and she reaches out and seizes him by his private parts, 12 you shall cut off her hand. Show her no pity. 13 Do not have two differing weights in your bag—one heavy, one light. 14 Do not have two differing measures in your house—one large, one small. 15 You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you. 16 For the Lord your God detests anyone who does these things, anyone who deals dishonestly. |
