Roland17:Reason it feels like I’m blaming Emery, we had aging midfield, he kept buying weaker midfielders. What’s the justification of keeping Xhaka after Emery’s first season, what’s the rationale in buying Guen. Is it a surprise that since Xhaka and Torreira no longer pair in that midfield we’ve been playing Emery ball again? We don’t even have a reliable 10 anymore and y’all are saying I shouldn’t blame Emery. |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Herbiedeen(m): 7:27am On Jun 21, 2020 |
kokaneprodigy:This started from Arsene Wenger, when, instead of buying a player who plays 4, he'd be buying a player who plays 44, that was why arsenal keep getting weaker every season. Emery came and continued the thread. Arteta is also starting to drift into that lane now because he only has his eyes on that 4 and 5 positions(or should i say 44 and 55), partey and upcam..... While in the actual sense, what you guys need is a natural winger who's ready to play his heart for the club and a good No.10 |

Herbiedeen:I’ll free Arteta cos he’s yet to have substantial number of TW. The entire midfield bar Ceb need to be trashed and shredded. We need a creative 10 and two solid DMs/CMs urgently this coming TW. we can still manage the resources we have in attack and Defence. |

Geundouzi is a Phool finally. How can u play rubbish for 90 minutes then come and choke hold someone like this? Bissouma single handedly made the Arsenal midfield nonexistent. They were just passive with none of them willing to lung into tackles and do the dirty work. After the game now, Guendouzi wants to form hard guy, lol. Where was this hard guy mentality when ur goalie was knocked out or when u were been bullied by Bissouma? I hope he gets fined and suspended for this

Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Nobody: 9:00am On Jun 21, 2020 |
Herbiedeen:I’m being realistic, we can’t change the entire team in one window. Reason we have to eat the bigger frogs first. You’ll agree with me that between the attack and midfield, the latter is in a state of emergency when compared with the former. If we get a solid 10 two solid DM/CM. With synergy we can still manage the attack, sell Laca and get a LWF that Saka can deputize, Martinelli can deputize Auba and Pepe. It’s a gradual process. Rome wasn’t built in one day, if it was we would hire same contractor to rebuild our team. |

Herbiedeen: Agree 100%, with the bolded, Imagine a prime Sanchez on the wings, where Aubameyang has been ineffective, and a prime Carzola in the AM where Ozil and Ceballos have been silent and dancing respectively, I'm sure this Arsenal will still look Okay and competitive. We may not be doing fine against top teams, but the Brighton and Southampton won't a difficult task. Its true we may have a weak defensive set up, but its not like we concede every minute, but our attack can be so dull like we're never going to score. Take Saka and the inconsistent Pepe away and you see a boring pass me I pass you football. Utd didn't win city home and away by defending alone, you see James,Rashford and Martial running and causing the city back line problems with series of shots, but our boys wil try to work the ball in the net in a slow slow manner. . Trashy rubbish. |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Fkhalifa(m): 1:40pm On Jun 21, 2020 |
kodded: True though, but what spectacular thing have they been doing for 80min+? Except the goal, Pepe looked average, Auba was silent,(I won't Blame since he also admit he isn't good on the wings), Lacazzete was also doing Nada, Ceballos was dancing and creating Nada. Only Saka looked creative. Yes the sub was bad, but we never looked like scoring even with the big players. |
Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Nobody: 1:46pm On Jun 21, 2020 |
Fkhalifa:You picked on the defence picked on attack absolved the midfield like that wasn’t the worst department on the day. You obviously don’t understand how football works.! If we had Coq play alongside Ceb or Torreira with a prime 10 that attack will surprise u. There was a time we had fcking Giroud leading our attack we weren’t this bad. Not cos Giroud was spectacular neither was the defence top notch. But our midfield was solid. Look at what the midfield did to bring Man-U into the game against Spurs which of the midfielders that played yesterday could do that? Keep telling yourself what makes u sleep. |

You can have a solid midfield attackwise and defencewise and survive without a solid winger. But u can’t survive if reverse is the case. That’s how y’all kept emphasizing wingers sotey we abandoned midfield personnel and in Osinbajo’s voice. That’s why we are where we are today. 1 Like |

kokaneprodigy: At the bolded, you have an agenda, and its clear, continue telling yourself what makes you sleep also. Didn't you see where I said the whole defensive set up? I.e from Dms to the entire back 4. And yes they may be weak but its not like they are that terrible that they concede every minute, this defensive set up was able to hold city until Luiz gave 2 individual errors. We managed to concede 1 for 90minute at Brighton. My question then is what effort did the entire front line did for 90mim+? We scored from that Pepe's individual strike and aside that did you see creativity from the wings and attacking midfield? Sanchez, Ramsey and Ozil in their prime made Girould look Okay. |

We need to totally revamp our midfield and that is where I agree with @Kokaneprodigy. You can get the best wingers but if you lack the right midfielders to help coordinate/ transition offense and push the ball, irrespective of how skilled your wingers are, they would be ineffective and wingers have the tendency to become selfish if they are not involved. Also, if your style of attack is primarily through the wings it becomes predictable and easy for opponents to plan against your team. More so , without a good midfield, your counter attacks become blunt, thus making your wingers irrelevant. Do you know how many counter attack opportunities we blew yesterday? Yesterday’s loss was on Arteta, he should have raised his hand during the press conference. Take a look at the formation and how it was broken down! You are playing a back 4 with Kola yet you brought Tierney whom you should have started in the first place. (Abeg I don’t want to hear injury scare excuse) A midfield base of Ceballos and Guen, threw Saka into the AM which was part of our undoing because the kid has made it clear during the break that while he is versatile he was to build his confidence from the LW position, not LB, LWB or AM position. Well, whenever we had possession, the kid was drifting to his preferred position, thus saturating that wing, causing more offsides for Auba and himself. If the idea was to be fluid then it was a horrible decision because we lack any identity, I mean outside of losing and drawing games. Furthermore, you would notice whenever we had possession we were spending incredible amounts of time in our own half, back passing. The midfield pairing lacked the dynamism/ grit to coordinate the attack. Auba, Laca, Saka and Pepe were all dropping deep to collect the ball. It was a horrible tactic, it was flat. Pepe is dangerous when he is inside the box, not outside of it, not when he has to make long runs because he would be doubled and of course it is easy for him to become distracted by some fruitless dribbling. 1 Like |
