How African Culture Promotes Poverty And Corruption by ModestGal(f): 3:27pm On Jun 22, 2020
The reason why we are so poor in this part of the world is due to our African culture of poverty..

I have come to realize that Naturally, African cultures promotes poverty, fanatical beliefs, and others.

For instance, in African movies, you will realize that it doesn't promote Innovations, science or other reasonable beliefs about getting rich. The only thing it promotes is Superstitious beliefs and wishful thinkings. For example, a mother whoose child is sick would not personally think of what could be the cause, what could be wrong, how can this be solved(which is where science and innovation start, from questions), but her first thought would be to attributes such cause to someone she fought the previous day.

Many atimes, you will see people getting rich either out of Money rituals or LUCK. Have you ever watched an African movie where an individual actually became rich out of thinking of his way out of poverty? No, you will never see such.
What you will see include people that has a STAR right from Birth, or people that got LUCKY maybe met someone that connected him when he was walking in one road
Or people that the pastors/Alfas/Imams ask to do some certain things etcetera

AFRICAN WAYS OF BECOMING RICH
1. LUCK
2. Mercy
3.Divine interventions
4. Money Rituals
5. Corruption
6. Favour
7. Grace
8. Fraud
Aside these methods, i dont think Africans actually think there are higher chances of some other methods getting them rich.
All these beliefs will not make any Nation to grow because LUCK for instance is uncommon, and would only happen to very few percentage of people naturally, so why wasting time praying for it? Or why wasting time wishing for it? Why don't you just make it happen? Work towards being the becoming great without LUCK.
When you are the lucky one, it means the other people are unfortunate, so LUCK/GRACE/ itself is not a healthy way of a Nation growing, because it would always make a higher percentage of the population to become poor, and thats exactly why high number of Africans are Poor. Let's say 1000 people all work towards luck, and a person is lucky amidst 1000 people and got the offer, it means the rest 999 people would be unfortunate, so which means a high number of people in the society would always be unfortunate (opposite of luck)
Let me site another example for you, I'm in my twenties now, so let's just say that for the past 15years, I have met up to 2000 people, out of these people, I'm not sure I know 10people who became rich through LUCK, or meeting a good hearted man (known as Oloore in Yoruba),that helped them out of no where to succeed, and from they become very rich. This percentage is not even upto 3% of the people I have met, which means it is a wasted wishes that would leave many disappointed. So why not just focus on realistic, practicable ways of becoming successful! This is still the prayer point of so many, meeting helper (''Alaanu'' ) that would make them blow. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's totally bad, but don't put your mind there, focus your thoughts on something you can make happen by yourself that would make you be that person you want

I do not think African culture actually think it's possible to become rich through smart thinking.
Did Mark Zukerberge got rich through Grace, Luck, Mercy?

I don't blame all these movie directors, because they prefer to produce things that people would love to buy. I realize that many homes watch these type of movies and have these beliefs, and it is most common with our poor people and I believe this is a contributing factor to poor people becoming poorer.

Our politicians will always be corrupt because Nigerian culture promotes corruption. For instance, all these politicians house are usually crowded when they visit their home towns with people looking for favours, and money to collect. Now, tell me how these people will not loot and steal?
You won't understand this until you get into any position of power in Nigeria, and you dare not put some of your family members in some positions they are not even fit for, they will frustrate your life.
Our society promotes corruption, only the family of those who are not presently in power will go against a leader who is not looting for them.
If you are in power and you are not looting for your people, African would belief you are a bastard even your children would curse you when they grow old and you didn't leave loot for their unborn generation to inherit
....
Seriously, I think we need to reach out to those movie makers, because I believe they have the power of changing so many false beliefs inherent in our traditions that are limiting our people in one way or the other
Do we even have past heroes that got rich out of smart thinking?

..........
If you are an ambitionary leader, visionary, or aspirer and you had like to contribute your own quota to humanity, African development through psychological reformations, mindset shifting, general reformation, kindly chat me directly through the link on my signature, I have a great offer for you

This is one reason why Africans are poor, we are fanatics in nature. Religion does not and cannot prevent people from becoming rich, likewise is Atheism. For instance, we have seen Nations like Isreal, Saudi Arabia that have left poverty, likewise we have seen Atheist Nations that have grown out of poverty

Many will see this as an attack which is not so. So many things have gone wrong in this side of the world. So many mediocracy in the society. We desire the good life and effective governance system of western countries, good social amenities, law of equal right, a good working system in every sector of the country. But can we have all of these. Maybe not yet. Not when we have so much PROVERTY. Proverty affects generally the physchological behaviour of human. Proverty promotes more superstition, leads to CORRUPTION. A mind driven by proverty promotes more wishful thinkers than free thinkers. A man who is uncertain about his reality and next meal will clamore to hopes that bring assurance. Hope has come to us in form RELIGION. No wonder religion trives on ignorant and weakness of people. To couple it up, only a few who substantially have more than enough wealth are adore in every institute. More pressure is upon those with only few resources to acquire more which will never be enough. This cycles continue with different ideology coined from it. It's just a matter of time before corruption sets in. Corruption slows nation's development. Little or no development increases proverty. Proverty promotes different religion. Different religion creates different ideology. With wrong ideology corruption sets in and the cycle continues...

The cycle has to be broken but how?

Op you are very correct, unfortunately you are directing your write up to the wrong audience.

They'll not make any sense out of it. These audience do not believe you can "blow" if there's no any attachment to the "spiritual" realm. The more reason ritual activities will never cease to exist.

What's the way out? I don't know.

Even if it is just one person that gain from this, then I have indeed make an impact, well, I believe the way out is first to liberate ourselves from poverty, and later tell our stories.
One reason I want to be a millionaire/billionaire is because I want to show people that it is possible without just sitting down and wishfully wishing.
When we continue to raise our voices and awareness on this type of topics and personally work towards becoming great, I believe we would be able to pass our message across to more people who would believe in it and work by it, and with this, we would grow as people and as a Nation
I'm saying this because I do not see this Nation growing through our leaders, or through politicians, I'm not seeing how they are ready to lift us up, but I believe in the power of individual strength, zeal to conquer, once we do this, we would have enough power to challenge the government and make things right for us

Not at all, religion does not promote poverty, our people do. We have Christian Nations thriving as well as Muslim Nations, and likewise Atheist.

I believe the problem is the people who took the religions in a foolish way to obstruct their critical /creative thinking. I don't see any difference between the impact of traditional religions and Christianity/Islam, because the people are thesame, they all preferred the Mythologies of the religions to prosper in their lives more than others in it.
Just like I have said, religion is never the cause but the people, we have Religious Nations that are thriving, so I believe its not a barrier

It can be broken, it starts from you and I, how we raise our children. We need to create more awareness on such topics and for people to see the psychological factors strengthening poverty in our society.
Let me know, if you had like to speak on this kind of topics, you can also make your own impact in your own little ways, I would make the arrangement

I like your spirit, keep it up. I was in your shoes but got tired. Then i told myself to just focus on fixing myself first. Then I'll think of what next later.

But sincerely i don't think I'm really ready to waste my time with these set of people who are bent on living in poverty all their lives.

One solution cannot solve it all.
We are all different,And think of different strategies. But for me, I believe this problem can be solved through changing the mindset of our people, we need to catch our people young, and breathe into their heart the spirit of volunteerism, the spirit of right thinking's, we need to wash the society first,so that whoever would get to the position of power would have learnt from the society and take those good things he learnt to the government.
For instance, if we have a racist leader, that leader is a product of the society that has breathed in racism into him, so if the society has breathed in a better thing into him, then that is also what he would manifest as the leader

I'm unapologetic when I say that most African religions does not ONLY breed poverty, it's a practice of barbarism... And should be discarded entirely.

As for Christianity and a couple of other foreign religions, it's simply how Africans practice them that make it look bad or bring forth bad results.

Very few people know that some of the principles of these foreign religions were enbeded either in a written or unwritten constitution which in turn guided them to success and massive development.

1. Protestant work ethic: The Germans lifted these principles from the Bible and embedded in their constitution. Today, as they say, the rest is history. These principles emphasizes on hardwork, character, truth, commitments, frugality and respect for authorities.

2. Law of Jante: Developed in Nordic countries of Europe. It's almost like an unwritten religion over there. It emphasizes humility, equality, communialism etc.

These put the Europeans on the map economically and otherwise.

3. Neo Confucius: Mostly practiced in south Asia and South. Frugality, hardwork, respect for authority etc.

4. Magna Carter. USA.

All the aforementioned principles are all religious principles. But the problem is the practice of these principle and raising debates on how to infuse them into our culture

Superstition is the bane of Nigeria, most Nigerians ascribe every occurrence in their daily life to the spirit realm

Consequently, superstition promotes mediocrity. And mediocrity directly and indirectly promotes corruption.

Mediocrity and corruption propagate underdevelopment! And underdevelopment gives rise to poverty.

You are largely wrong. If anything, Africans are poor because they have abounded their cultural heritage in favour of foreign ones. In addition, Africans lack imagination. It may even be that Africans lack imagination because they abandoned their traditional concepts and consequently are not able to function imaginatively ensconced in foreign ways of going about things.

It is perhaps not coincidence that Nigerians are often the wealthiest Africans and are the Africans that are more informed by their African culture than other Africans are.
