- Governor Godwin Obaseki's second term journey may have hit another brick wall

- A Federal High Court has stopped the governor from participating in PDP's governorship primary election

- This is coming after the opposition party stated that APC's candidate is no match for any of its aspirants

Trouble looms for Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki as a Federal High Court on Monday, June 22, stopped him taking part in the PDP governorship primary, a report by P.M News has stated.

Justice E.A. Obile of the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt banded the newest member of the PDP from participating in the party's primary election scheduled for Thursday, June 25.

The motion filed by a member of the opposition, Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama is seeking a court order to stop Secondus and PDP from allowing Obaseki to buy the forms for the Edo state governorship primary.

The party's national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, PDP, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), chairman of the party screening committee, Kingsley Chinda, other members of the committee, and Obaseki were listed as defendants in the case.

Justice Obile granted the interim injunction as requested as hearing in the matter case has been adjourned till Wednesday, June 24.

The PDP had earlier announced a waiver for Obaseki who joined the party on Friday, June 19 to enable him to participate in the primary election. Obaseki was screened by the party's committee on Saturday, June 20.

Recall that a frontline aspirant of the PDP in Edo state, Gideon Ikhine, has stepped down from the governorship primaries for Governor Obaseki.

Ikhine, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), announced his decision on Monday, June 22 at his campaign secretariat in the state capital, Benin.

Governor Obaseki, the PDP state party chairman, Dr Tony Aziegbemi and other party leaders from across the state were in attendance at the briefing. Ikhine said Obaseki’s defection to the party was God’s great answer to the party and his aspiration.

Following Ikhine's decision, the Edo state governor is now favourite to clinch the PDP's governorship ticket in Edo state.

Ahead of the PDP primary, Governor Obaseki's chances have become brighter after he met with key stakeholders within the opposition party.

Until Obaseki’s ordeal, the PDP was said to have settled for Hon. Omoregie Ogbeide-Ihama, a member of the House of Representatives and chairman, committee on culture and tourism as their preferred flag bearer.

Meanwhile, PDP declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC)'s candidate for the Edo governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, is not a match for any of its aspirants ahead of the poll.

Ize-Iyamu, a former PDP chieftain, emerged as a candidate of the APC ahead of the election on Monday, June 22.

What was he expecting before?
Wrong political move.
PDP isn't a small party he can easily manouvre just like that.
With the political big wigs,he should know it's not an easy one.
Should have chosen another platform and test the popularity he said he had.
Mimiko in Ondo used Labour party to win governorship, Rochas and Amosun in 2019 used lesser onown parties for their annointed candidates.

PDP should not lose this chance to win both Ondo State and Edo State.....

They should put their game into order.....

APC is confused and shouldn't be a ruling party....

If the first family is in chaos and the first lady bluntly disobeyed and ignored.....with their party chairman fighting to destroy the destiny of a sitting governor after selling him to the masses last 2016....Very unserious party....

PDP really need to kick them off the game...

Lemao...Which matter? Obaseki is fighting for second term, you want him to leave power, position and interest to get justice for dead body?

Or is it the handicapped police who are more interested in chasing Yahoo boys? How did you expect them to get the killers when we do not have a central repository for fingerprints?

Abi is it hypocritical Nigerians who have moved on? The justice for Uwa hashtag, is already in the dustbin of Twitter. They've moved on to don't leave me challenge...

The matter is already under the carpet and there's nothing anybody can do, as Nigerians are docile and known to be internet voltrons.
