Soft starter may not work for fridge/freezer cos of compressor. It will work for pump and some type of motor load.

If you reduce the voltage/frequency too much it will stalled and forego the startup process.

Compressors have motors that spin them...Here is the video of the soft starter i am talking about.

Hi Ojeysky,

To an extent, yes.... But there are wide differences.
I used to have a Table-Top (student) fridge rated 75W. Every single time the fridge is starting, it pulls around 800/900W...not kidding. Even my 1.5KVA/24V Mopower Inverter beeps. I've run it for over 10hrs,yet it kicks in at over 500W...

My present Inverter fridge cruises from around 20W and gradually reaches the 78W max. It starts coming down after like 5-12hrs. Stabilizes at around 30W after 14hrs.

For the bolded, that's the whole point. Why would it lose power, if you're looking at inverter fridge? With inverter fridge, it's best to run it 24/7. The only periods I cut off power is when there's rain and it comes with Lightning and thunder. I usually do a total isolation of my inverter system, since the house I'm staying doesn't have either a Lightning/thunder arrestor or even grounding for me to use a SPD.
Even if the power loss lasts for about 3hrs, after powering the fridge back, it doesn't go above 55W and within 1hr, it stabilizes back to around 30W...

Ahhhh this is what i need ohhhh.

I'm sorry sir. It will not happen again. It was intended for comic relief and not to cast aspersion.

On contactor wiring
https://youtu.be/_pzBBRjaw0M

On contactor purchasing
https://a.aliexpress.com/_BPGTy0

This contactor can easily be sourced locally. All you need is to know where to look. The dealers that sell MCB breakers, high voltage and LV parts often stock contactors. Or you can walk into any electrical shop and ask where you can get one, most electrical part dealers often know a dealer who sells such. You may have the issue of finding the type you desired, is it two NC and two NO? Most of the time you'll see only one NC with up to four NO. Anyways anyone looking for contactor should try the local vendor before going the AE way especially nowadays that it takes forever to get things shipped from AE.

It's Hisense satellite smart LED UHD. Bought from a walk in shop. The backlight power saving is from 100% to 10% selectable.

I'll get the model number when I get home over the weekend.

Won't a soft start circuit solve this for conventional inductive loads with high inrush current at start up?...it may just be more economical to get a soft starter and use with conventional inductive loads.

Except of course to upgrade is higher in priority sha.

I dont think high inrush current is the major concern here since his inverter is spec'ed to handle it. The main issue of admiration is continuous power consumption which is the basis of comparison.

Although as you rightly thought, it may be desirable too that start surge too is taken care of especially if the compressor has to switch on and off during working cycles.

You're right. The only difference has to do with the soft start. Inverter fridge doesn't require that initial startup surge and would therefore run say in a 500w inverter with no surge capability.

Right that's very correct which is what @mcTrinity was saying as well. I didn't mention the start up as that was not the aspect I was intending to address but yes those "inverter" setups are much better. My fridge could pull as much as 500w on initial, the freezer and AC are more notorious. I certainly can't see any reason why I will get a non-inveter AC going forward after experiencing a GenPal.

Now that my GK replacement boards has arrived and confirmed operational I can now plan for another energy saving gear in near future. Maybe the inverter fridge (with freezer). This energy sufficiency na fun journey o, but account balance no dey smile. grin

What?! Scanfrost?! This is nice.

Believe me I don't know that these guys have impressive offerings o.

My unsavoury experience with that 42 inch Startimes have made me to denigrate those Scanfrost, Bruhm, Daewoo and Niko TVs, lumping them together as unserious.

I thought GenPal (by LG I suppose) is an inverter AC?

Congrats on your board that has arrived. You nearly jumped on the 48v train with that their initial offer. grin

Yes o... Would have been a more interesting experience, the board just got in today and I don couple ham chap chap tested working. Now I have to find time to hock it back to my system

So it was not a challenging thing to put in. I guess basically it was just a plug and play thingy.

Usually AE was a go to option but with China orders seriously troubled due to covid-19, I was hoping someone here will have them on offer.

Am I in luck?

Ummmm,the thing tire me oooooo........
What I ordered in Late February 2020 is yet to enter Nigeria,in-transit between both countries because I used AE standard shipping.
Funnily enough, the 24v 3000watts inverter am currently using now was shipped using DHL in June 2020,got delivered in less than a week.
God help us.

The whole thing is just somehow. I took the bold plunge again 5 days ago by ordering 2 units 60A MPPT, but I selected DHL as my choice of delivery, payment reflected an increased total charge.

Ever since, the seller has been doing somehow as if he is not interested in shipping. He started by insisting that DHL is also experiencing delay. Then he begun to yap some nonsense about paying extra 43usd for supposedly remote address, state capital o with functional DHL office, that countless DHL and UPS parcels has been delivered to me without such problem. Las las, I envisage I'll cancel the order and blacklist that seller.

Abeg the web address link to your inverter on AE.

Abeg enjoy am. Please avoid the problems (if due to oversights) that may be directly or remotely responsible for the damage of that first board. That first board was too short lived, less than a year if I'm right.

You should get at least 5 years of service out of this thing before you retire it.

Chief ,seems you are the resident mpp inverter expert.

Kindly confirm that the MK series is the best of the pack,
Have perused the whole thing countless times, and got more confused grin grin

Want to hv a backup inverter + planning ahead for a future upgrade, when i would hv squeezed all the life outta my rugged FLA bank, switch to bigger Lipo4 bank as well.

Batteryless mode isnt interesting to me, may have made sense if they had it in compact 2kva models. Would dedicate 1 unit for ac and simply hook up an ac permanently on such

I am a fan of the GK for 2 things:

1. Combined charging option from both utility and solar
2. Lesser idle consumption compared to MK

Though I'm not using it, I read that MK does combined charging too and also can combined both utility and solar for load if solar is not enough.

Please confirm if GK can combine utility and solar to power load as well?

I love the high voltage of GK.
