TheLoneCitizen: Do you know that Sol Bamba playing for Cardiff last season in the EPL, had better statistics than Van Dyke. In your opinion do you think that Bamba is better than Van Dyke❓ Statistics have to be used properly and as such are indicative but not entirely conclusive. Cardiff were relegated back to the Championship with thier poor quality quintessential dogs of war, kick and rush type football. Where they belong. Poor quality teams often spend the larger part of the game defending which means lots of blocks, long balls, interceptions, tackles, clearances. As a consequence they have lots of these types of high statistics. It is not a reflection of quality but desperation and limited ability . Leganese is a poor team, that has only been able to win 5 games out of 31 games in La Liga. It is not benchmark for quality. La Liga wins accolades and is classed as the best in Europe on account of the units of measurement used. Those accolades are almost entirely anchored on the exploits of Real and Madrid. You could add a lower third in this group Athletico Madrid. So you have a huge gap between the top two teams Real and Barca who have probably one everything for the past 15 years. If you look at EPL over the same period you will have about 6 different teams over the same period winning the league. But more worrying is the gap in quality of the bottom half of La liga. When you look at Segunda División it is nowhere near on the level of the Championship. So using the second tier Championship as a measure of players quality fails. Look at the value of players in Bournemouth a relegation club and Leganese. In terms of players value Leganese cannot compete. Or we could look at Fulham in the Championship and the value of thier players once again Leganese cannot compete on value or quality. Essentially Leganese would struggle to compete in the Championship. They would not be big spenders and be mid table at best IMO. The reality is players follow the money not just the league. Nobody is going to leave the Championship for lower pay to just play in La Liga. This is why l do not agree with your proposition. 2 Likes |

komekn: Sir! English football is not a standard of measurement for European football These spanish teams you talking down on have dealt with premier league teams of late Sevilla knocked out Manchester united under Mourinho Chelsea had to hold on tight to luck to see out a draw against Valencia "low club" atletico Madrid knocked out the runaway champions in the premier league I won't place a bet on west ham winning against Real betis.. And I'm also certain a game between Villareal and Everton can swing either ways Spanish football is not as bad as you trying to paint it.. I watched a group of fishermen from Ibiza playing well against Barcelona English football is not the beginning and end of European football And the championship is not as great as you want us to believe Ayew is king there 10 Likes |

komekn: As long as the team is the the second-tier they are just a 'can-be', let's face the status quo. Talk of relegation, Ekong's Udinese are facing relegation, so his stats should compare favourably to Omeruo. Talk of relegation, Andy Robertson, one of the current best left-backs in the world, was snapped up from a relegated Hull. Talk of Championship, the worst team in the EPL this season, were the best in the Championship last season. So how can you judge a player based on second division football. You ovverrate this division. Talking of Bamba to Van Dijk, it is a myth that Bamba had better statistics to Virgil. Let's check. A player who scores 200 goals in 500 games is not a better scorer than one who scores 50 in 70. A player who averages 20 dribbles per game at a 60% accuracy is not a better dribbler than one who does 5 per game with a 95% accuracy. So also, peripherally Bamba won more tackles than Virgil by far , but crucially Virgil had a better success rate. Bamba had a rate of 47.4%, Virgil was 92.9%. This means for every 5 tackles he made, there were 5 unsuccessful. But Virgil had just 1 unsuccessful for every 9 successful. Ekong has a rate of 45.5% while Omeruo 64.3%. To damn Ekong even more, he has attempted just 29 tackles and has this woeful percentage, compared to Omeruo who has attempted 48. Secondly, Van Dijk had a better rating compared to Bamba, so also Omeruo has the best rating of Nigerian defenders. Respect, man, respect. 1 Like 1 Share

JayromWrites:Yes you are right but Seville beating Man Utd happens in football so no big deal. Sir, championship is better than Spanish segunda and overall EPL is more competitive than la liga though I still rate LA liga as the best due to exploit of Real Madrid and Barcelona. 2 Likes |
