Tosin Aiyegun Masterclass

Ehmmmm... A little space please. A little space for Tosin Aiyegun. Lad was on fire today as he destroyed Swiss Super League leaders, FC St. Gallen.

He bagged two goals and the first goal was absolutely beautiful. Brilliantly worked goal by the powerful and pacy winger.

He now has 7 goals and 2 assists in 17 league appearances as a Winger (RW/RM) for FC Zurich.

While I congratulate Liverpool and their fans for a long awaited title, I would like to give a special shout out to Chelsea. They played their hearts out tonight and gave us a game deserving of a live audience.

That was one of the best matches this season, and it is unimaginable what could happen, with the injection of Ziyech and Werner to that team next season.

Winnings per game has to do with luck. Winnings for a series of games has more to do with quality.

Tega and Pedro were not in the starting line up, so dismisses your line up theory. You hoped Chelsea won and they did.

By the way, you saw Sterling's decision to go for goal instead of squaring for Mahrez in space. I wonder if Pep scolds Sterling at all. The English players need to start obeying space theory.

That actually was my theory.

It's very actually extremely hot in the UK today we had temperatures of ➕ 30 degree Celsius.

So fatigue will be a very big issue we are not use to this level of heat and humidity. Although it's an evening start it's still HOT.

That means have strength in depth is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to your team strategy.

With the new rules that allow for 5 substitutes how you use them will have a huge impact on the team chances of winning and or defending.

I expected Giroud to start and play a more containment approach with his hold up play at the same time as lulling City into a false sense of security with the total lack of pace from Giroud.

Then on the second half go for goal by introducing the very outstanding Tega who on introduction completely changed the dynamics of the game. In the end getting Fernandinho sent off and getting the penalty.

Chelsea Wing backs neutralise the threat of Mendes and limited Walker which stifled Mahrez and Raheem from running the game.

In the end City went for broke and abandoned defence playing into Chelsea plan with Tega pushing the two City central defender right back with his pace and presence. And preventing them linking up with fluidity like they did in the first half.

So that was my expectation and it essentially played out as l expected.

You did not know the changes that will be made or the dynamics of the game. It is just pure luck. You said you judged from the starting line up. Simple. Talking about game dynamics was nowhere in the discussion. You are not in Lampard's mind or know the direction the game will go.

Let's be absolutely honest that's a slight on Ramos to make that comparison they arenot on the same level. . All our CB 's are at the very best average not much more.

Meanwhile l am about to watch Chelsea play against City. It's going to be very tough.

I cannot even predict it can go anyway.

But looking at team selection l can see Chelsea winning this.

I know TheGoodJoe will not AGREE.
for starters, your prediction came true!! Bravo.

2ndly, i didnt slight Ramos. Just stated that he works and practices fk taking, and as such, our defenders dont do just that to come out good.

We need setpiece kings from these CBs, RBs, LBs. Its a good plus on any portfolio.

Not to talk of Midfield

How can you in any way blame Gundogan there? He was clearly in his zone, in control of the ball, even signalled Mendy to return back to his zone. Mendy misplaced the pass.

So explain to me why you would blame Gundogan in any way.

I can bet you won't reply.
Permit me to say that despite their error.... chai.....this is why i love John Terry...

Both of them still had lots of space to cover the path Pulisic will eventually pass. But these dumb thinking made them slow down. Smart Pulisic noticed the slow down and by his side for that matter instead of in his front. Pulisic quickly capitalized with speed. Mendy dey do Racoon Pace still yet. Smh.

Should i say they were too overtechnical in that buildup.

Twas 2 vs 1 for Christ's sake o. And this wasnt a Hazard, a Messi or CR7. Yet.

The errors are clear, but the greater erro is not stopping his path to goal.

Man city a man down a man after red card too Fernandinho.

It's looking very interesting, Tega has brought the much needed pace city defender pushed back.

6 minutes to go ➕ added time.

Lampards approach to the game was superb but we still have to work on defending set pieces and avoid conceding them
Lets be Frank, Lampard didnt do anything to tactically outplay City. City Errors gave the upper hand. Not any approach kankan.

As for KDB goal, even Casillas no fit reach that ball. Van der Sar may come close, same for Buffon, but that was just classy from KDB.

We scored 2 corner kicks at afcon, we aren't that bad. I think Simon is a decent crosser of the ball
We sabi put hope on this word "decent" for this thread sha.

We need fierce, outstanding, not decent. Let the fear of the ball getting to an SE winger be noticed in our opponents. Ehen.

You are looking at football from one perspective the Spanish style of football. Things have moved on you are being too nostalgic.

A style that sees only two teams dominate in thier league consistently. But two teams with the best 2 players in the world.

Take out Messi from Barcelona and l tell you they will not have the same over riding dominance. Look at Real M.since Ronaldo left and they are not the same.

Most top quality teams are not entirely reliant on just one player.

Now to mitigate against the technical possession game of Barcelona. You simply bring in pace, more physicality and go more direct. And don't worry about possession.

Chelsea did it with Drogba.

Football has moved on and spending time on the ball with possession only is no longer the killer tactic. Pep has evolved the system with what he has done at Bayern and Man city.

Liverpool did it and gave Barcelona a football lesson with a crazy defeat right in thier backyard.

If it worked Carzola would still be in Arsenal but he has dropped to insignificance in Villareal.

The system also requires that everyone plays the same way.

Look at Seria A and see what the combination of speed, technical ability with physicality has done for Lukaku at Inter. Although for me irrespective of the league Lukaku is a proven tested World class striker.

Paul Scholes would not find it easy now the game has changed. Midfielder are box to box and they score goals.

Even with that you are still very wrong and not being balanced with regards to English players. Let's look at the current young English midfielder who are killing it.

Mason Mount, Maddison, Winks, Grealish, Ruben Loftus, Barkley, Bamidele Alli, Todd Cantwell, etc to name just a few. These players will walk into any top club in Europe.

So again you seem to be out of touch with times the game has changed. Look at Liverpool where the Wing backs are recording more assists and even goals than top midfielders in the top leagues.

You need to drink the new wine, you are still drinking old Wine.

De Bruyne does not waist time doing skills and never ending possession football. But is arguably the best attacking midfielder in the world, look at his END PRODUCT assists and goals.

That's a large Exaggeration right there. You know it!!! Any team? How?

In addition to these two teenage Midfield prospects in the post below, here is another fine teen midfield prospect. He made his Bundesliga debut on June 20 for Bayern Munich vs Freiburg and I kinda missed it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_16LBm2Olw
A clip on the lad.

His name is Jamal Musiala. An attacking midfield talent born to a Nigerian father and German Mother.
'Started out with TSV Lehnerz before transferring to Southampton Youth in England in 2010. He is now with Bayern Munich U-19 and made his Bundesliga debut spotting jersey #42 vs Freiburg.

'Has featured for Germany at U-16 level and England at U-15, U-16 and U-17 level. All are friendlies so he is not captied to any nation.

Eligible for Germany, England and Nigeria.

Another teen midfield talent to keep an eye on.

TheSuperNerd:
Two exciting Naija midfield talents of foreign links to keep eyes on:

- Simon Sohm, 19 (FC Zurich): Eligible for Switzerland and Nigeria.

- Michael Akpovie Olise, 18 (Reading): Eligible for France, England and Nigeria.

Lately we have not been exorbitant. The problem is market inflation. I think we just bought Cancelo last season. It is a myth people have about City. Lot of our success is down to hard work and sound inhouse decisions.
