I wanted to study an engineering course in unilag but i was advise to pick geophysics instead becuse i failed further maths in my olever now my jamb result is out and i had 240 . So i don't know if i should change my institution to a less competitive school or i should stick to the geophysics .

Geophyscis is a wonderful course but try and learn Further Maths you need it.

I am a PhD holder in Geology.
I will advise you to study geology if you have the opportunity but if not go for geophysics.
My reasons:
1. Geophysics is an area of specialty in geology. As a graduate of geology you can go for M.Sc in Geophysics but as a geophysics graduate you can't go for M.Sc.
2. Secondly as a graduate of Geology, you can have M.Sc in
a. Applied Geophysics (You can specialise in environmental, hydro and engineering geophysics)
b. Seismology
*c. Remote Sensing and GIS*
d. Marine sciences
e. Petroleum Geology
f. Petroleum Engineering
g. Geotechnical Engineering
h. Highway Engineering
I. Water resources Engineering
j. Soil science/Engineering
k. Environmental Sciences
l. Astronomy
m. Mining
There are many more.
Geosciences have better prospects than Engineering

If you don't have the desire, geology isn't for you. Had to bounce from that department. How can someone be studying stone all his life in thick forest? When your mates are building businesses.

My advice for you, look well into it, after then you can go ahead.

You need proper guidance and counseling based on your strengths.

Geology is more than studying rocks. It involves detailed study of all the components of the Earth using Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics. It is not meant for lazy people.

Bros. Make components of the earth go sit down for one place. No be igneous rock or mica or strike fault I go dey stress myself dey find for bush. How to build a world class business that survives 100 years and solves peoples needs is my problem. I'm not lazy.

Geology will continue to be relevant as long as the world exists.
Who told you Geology don't solve issue. The backbone of the world economy is geology: petroleum, water, mining.
Don't say what you don't know. That you didn't study Geology doesn't make it useless.

you what I wore jamb this year I chose petroleum engineering but I can't meet the cutoff mark so I came across geophysics and geology but o don't know the one to change to Unilag is my first choice
