This morning I got an official email from payoneer saying it’s frozen all payoneer debit cards. I came on twitter and realized that the company issuing the payoneer card (Wirecard Solutions Limited) had it’s operations suspended by the British FCA yesterday because Wirecard’s parent company Wirecard AG filed for insolvency recently.

Here was the email I got from them

“As you may have seen on the news, Wirecard AG filed for insolvency on Thursday. Your Payoneer Prepaid Mastercard® Card is issued by its subsidiary, Wirecard Card Solutions Limited (WCSL) in the UK. Today, the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) which regulates WCSL, issued requirements on WCSL, freezing all prepaid card activity for the time being. We believe that cardholder funds are properly safeguarded and that the freeze will be temporary.

What does this mean?
The FCA has communicated that they have taken these measures with the primary objective of protecting the interests and money of Wirecard customers. Pending further actions from the FCA, you will temporarily be unable to withdraw the funds on your card, nor receive new payments onto your card.

Any funds that are in excess of the maximum balance of your card are held by Payoneer and are therefore not impacted by the FCA’s temporary freeze.

How can I get paid during this time?
Any future payments that you receive from marketplaces, platforms and clients will not be affected by the freeze. You can sign in to view your funds, and you can now add your bank account for withdrawal of your future incoming payments.

What does this mean for FIVERR SELLERS?

It means for the time being, if you have any funds in payoneer, it will be frozen until the entire issue is resolved. I tried moving my funds myself this morning. It’s not going through anymore.

You can check Twitter, people are lamenting and begging for help because some of them had their life savings on Payoneer.

Any money you send to your payoneer between this morning and onwards can be withdrawn or transferred....but any money you had in your payoneer from yesterday is now frozen for the time being.

I believe this is only affecting people using the payoneer card

It’s affecting ALL payoneer account users. Funds are locked up for now. You can’t withdraw existing funds electronically, transfer funds, or even use the ATM with your Payoneer card.

Well, I tried withdrawing funds from my account now and it’s bringing up error messages...the funds were not loaded to my card but I still can’t withdraw.

Did you try withdrawing to bank? Or how did you withdraw the funds?

I have my dom account that I regularly withdraw to... and a payoneer card as well.

But the funds in the account at the moment were direct payoneer-to-payoneer transfers from clients. It wasn’t loaded on the card, and I was able to confirm that on the payoneer account dashboard.

This is crazy mehn.
