*Suspected Fulani herdsmen killed Mr. Eugene Anayo Iloabana
From Amamkpunato Achi in Oji River LGA, Enugu State

The lifeless corpse of the deseased was brought to Oji River Local Government council this morning by angered family and community members.

The wife of the Igwe of Amanato autonomous community Lolo Barr.Lady Gbugu narrated that the deceased left for farm on Monday 29th day of June 2020 by morning time ( which is the usual practice of the people in that community); but unfortunately, his family did not see him return by the usual evening time. And after much futile anticipation for his return from the farm, his family members alerted the neighbours and the relatives; this gave rise to the emergency search move into the farmland. On reaching there, they found the " butchered" lifeless body of Mr. Eugene Anayo Iloabana.
They immediately, contacted other members of the community as well as the royal kingdom to alert them on what they are experiencing at the farmland.
This informed the decision for the various calls to the police area commander in Oji River and other security formations.

Meanwhile, Lolo Barr. Lady Chinyere Gbugu buttressed that this is the second time that Amanmkpunato community is experiencing such abysmal maiming of their brothers in the farmland by suspected herdsmen; Pointing out that it was just two weeks ago that the community members alerted the security operatives on the incessant invasion of herdsmen to their farmlands - destroying all their crops and rendering their agricultural investments futile.

In his reaction, the Executive Chairman of Oji River Local Government Area, Barr. Frank Udemezue prayed that God in his infinite mercy will accord the soul of Late Eugene Anayo Iloabana a peaceful rest in his own kingdom; and also consoled the family members, relatives, members of the community and the entire Oji River people at large, over the ugly incident.
In his reaction, " This is the best time to engage our brains and strategize more on best ways to avert the repeat of this ugly incident in Oji River". He added that, the death of our brother Eugene must never be slept under the carpet; and that He cannot sit down and watch foreigners dislodge Oji River people from Oji River". The council boss thereafter promised to work within his power and mandate to ensure that this incident must not repeat itself again in Oji River. He cautioned the youths to rest their anger, and avoid taking laws into their hands, as he is going to meet with various security agencies to start actions that will halt this type of incident in Oji River.
The Governor will be informed and other persons will be informed so that we can quickly save our dear populace - who depends mainly on farming as their means of livelihood - says the council Chairman.
