OK, I got a 2006 accord with navigation. The beautiful display is there, but then what use is it to me? A glorified AC and audio control? Honda has no map for Nigeria, so it can't even serve it's original purpose. It doesn't play movies either. It's just useless. But damn! that sound system is badass. I can't imagine loosing that sound quality, so a China aftermarket stereo is a NO for me.
So after a lot of research, I was able to get what you see in the picture below. A reverse camera that works so well.

I'm looking to add auxiliary input to the setup to improve my music entertainment. If you know a good way to add aux to this wonderful sound system, I'll be glad to know.

What else can this display and sound system do? I would love to do more with it.

Just to clear things up. If you are interested in this camera setup I pictured above, then get a 2006-2007 (discussion continues). It might also work on Acuras of same years with navigation. But it will not work on older models (EOD)

It's a nice ride if you get a good one. Don't believe whatever any ignorant Honda hater might tell you about Honda. Mine is a v6 and I'm enjoying it. Lots of interior space, as much as a crossover. VERY strong engine.

It's actually very simple. This year of accord with navigation was actually designed to have reverse camera, I just don't know why Honda didn't just put them. It's basically a plug-and-play installation.

Basically, the DVD drive in the trunk of the car has a port for connection of reverse camera. But a special connector is required. If you can locate the port and source for the required connector, then all you need is a cheap reverse camera available everywhere.

- Plug the connector to the back of the DVD
- Plug the camera to the connector
- Power the camera from your reverse light

These are the three main steps.
The only problem is getting the connector as it is NOT available anywhere. You will have to construct one like I did.

So this is what I did.
I got a 7pin connector from my junk as seen in the picture. It must be smooth all round, ie. no clips. Mine had one as seen in the picture, so with a razor blade, I scrapped it smooth.
So with the open side facing down,
1 - ground
2 -
3 -
4 -
5 - Data
6 - shorted to 7

Cut the data wire that came with the camera, you will see a red, black and yellow cables. Join the yellow to wire 5 and join the black to wire 1. The red is not used as it is supposed to supply reverse voltage to the unit which is not needed in this car as Honda already did that.

The picture attached should serve as a guide.

The jumped 6 and 7 wires tells the unit that a camera is connected. So once this plug is connected to the back of the DVD in the trunk, even without a camera, the screen on the dashboard will go black ready to display whatever the camera is supplying. This can be used to confirm ur system is ready for a camera even before you buy a camera.

NOTE

when plugging it into the back of the DVD unit, this side must be down.

If you flip this to face down, which is the right way it should go in, pink is 1 and blue is 7.

Before you go buying a camera, make sure you get the connector right.
You know you've gotten it right when you get a blank dark screen on putting your gear in reverse after plugging in the connector (yes, just the connector with the wires bare and 6 and 7 joined) to the back of the DVD.

This is what mine looks like.

You will notice I used wire 4 as ground. That's because 1-4 are all ground. Any of them will serve.

This is why i can't do without NL. Following keenly Sir.

I need help setting this up on my 2009 Accord. It has a reverse camera and a display upfront but it doesn't seem to work. How can I trouble shoot.

I eventually installed a Bluetooth device that also worked so well. So I didn't have need for aux.

For the AUX, just get the picture below from AliExpress, you won't regret it. I installed it on my EOD and it gives me the perfect and clear sound quality, better than those rubbish plug and play Bluetooth that works with radio frequency.
