Nice to note that you are looking at some prospects.

Fixed deposit look like loss to me when inflation is factored in. What is the interest rate one can get for fixed deposit? Deduct inflation and what will be left. Well it serves as a means of cash preservation until one can find a safe and secured investment for his funds.

Rewards correlate with risks, while negotiating your reward, be nice to the guys putting up with more of the risks. Such understanding makes for better long term relationships.

I am setting up a vegetable oil production business now. It is still at the construction phase, so production and cost history like you will require are none existent.

We have some fancy feasibility report, previous industrial experience and some appetite for risks. If it goes well we should be able to get between 10 to 20% of the working capital per production batch. That should give us up to 30% ROI based on working capital per month.

Vegetable oil is a fast moving consumer goods, so demand for it is healthy. Now the problem is this, at the current construction stage the risks are still high, there are raw materials supply risks, production risks and sales risks although in different proportions. If we are able to surmount all the risks and get a successful business running and shunning out at least 30% return on working capital monthly why should I come to you for money and share part of my profit with you?

You will not have much leverage to negotiate for a good ROI for your capital if you wait until my business is successful and proven before you agree to come on board. I am just using this as an example.

I don't think that you should be disproportionately risk averse, if you are so risk averse then be fair by accepting low ROI from those you later agree to fund so that they don't feel used or taken advantage of.

What you wrote is complete and utter NONSENSE!

Anyone who reads what he wrote will think that once he buys a truck he will start packing money into his house with shovels

It is not possible to run your truck and make 60K every single day to the extent that you will recover triple the investment in just 3 years!

Is your truck the only one on the road?

Will the truck not break down and need repairs? (The repairs are not cheap and in addition you also need to factor in imaginary breakdowns cos the drivers know how to spin stories , sometimes in connivance with the manager/co-ordinator)

You will have to deal with dishonest drivers whose only ambition in life is to cheat the truck owner by selling your diesel, replacing your new tyres with old ones etc!

The most likely routes on Lagos Island would be from the dredging sites at Awoyaya, Sangotedo, Abijo, Epe etc to pick up sand or granite and take them to Dangote Refinery or any of the estates around for purpose of sandfilling but these come with additional expenses because you will also need to pay omo-onile fees, toll fees etc for every single trip the truck makes

If you rush and buy a truck based on the unrealistic figures this guy vomited you will cry plenty of premium tears!

Avoid taking a loan to invest in truck business if you're a first timer.

If you intend buying it with your own money then make sure you have another strong source of income otherwise you might develop high blood pressure when the c0ck and bull stories start coming in instead of the buckets of money you were expecting!
