How To Write Invitation Letters by Vicjustice: 7:40pm On Sep 11, 2011
For those of you who often wonder and ask "How Invitation Letter Should Look Like" I've decided to create this thread with some (self composed) samples of Letters Of Invitation.
   Know that there is no standard composition or grammars required, but yet, the letter must include the basic guidelines essential to sufficiently Identify, Introduce, Describe, Persuade and Guarantee on both parties.
   Also, it is important to know who the appropriate person to receive the invitation letter is: I'm making this emphasis because, a lot of people often make serious mistakes and are ignorantly sending Invitation Letters directly to Embassies or ECOs, and such letters usually fall short of their objectives as they are often unaccounted for. So, to make it further clear, the Invitation Letter (along with other supporting documents, if any) should be submitted by the Visa Applicant while addressed to the ECO.
   Now, there's no need to write a story or an essay, these are examples of how Invitation Letter may be like:

***Invitation Letter From A Person who Runs A Minor Company And Wishes To Invite A Pal

Thanks for this, invaluable. I've noticed that, although they UKBA website tells you about invitation letters, it doesn't actually tell you what format that should take.

I figured as much but there must be some kind of basic format that won't be treated with suspicion.

   It is ok to use this format, but i really don't see the need for the inclusion of your education details.
   Believe me, too many unnecessary details may be dangerous, you don't want to put your sister in the position of trying to answer many complicated questions about you, do you? Now, take my advice, when it comes to writing or making statements which are likely going to call for a trial or an interview, it is wise to always remember this word, KISS: that is, Keep It Short & Simple because, the more details you give, the more rooms you create for questions and the more danger you put yourself into: a little error from her would cost you dearly

But, do you really think that an introduction letter is a requirement for a visa application? I don't think so because, i know that your supporting documents would be doing the introduction on their own.
Well, if however you like to write that, then, i will recommend that you take a look at the invitation letter samples and construct the "introduction letter" using the guidelines.

some embassies require introdution letter for company and even family visit. It is different from invitation letter. Understand it simply, introduce yourself by stating when u were born, your current work and your position, how long you have in that position. Including some important background infomations. If i have some time to vist cafe, i will post a sample. You can also gather informations fromm othersjustice link=topic=757271.msg9254825#msg9254825 date=1317456962]

All the invitation letters i sent out were addressed to the person i was inviting and i made it very informal. They all got their visas. That is the same with other ones i saw. Did not address the ECo or whoever.

I will post the one I used for my brother's wedding. Out of 18 applications for a visiting visa, the American embassy denied just one applicant, and that applicant who was denied had lied about a prior visit to America, when she stayed past the duration.

Re: Tourist Visa for Invited Guests to the Wedding Ceremony between Mr. Samuel Doe and Ms Jane Doe in Anchorage, Alaska on December 7, 2020.

Dear Consular Officer:

Please accept this letter as notice that I have invited several family members and close family friends (“collectively relatives”) to the wedding ceremony between my son, Samuel Doe, and Jane Doe on August 7, 2020. Samuel and I have a special and close relationship with these relatives and, a result of the forthcoming wedding, they are seeking a tourist visa that will allow them admission into the U.S. to attend the wedding. The wedding ceremony will take place at the Our Lord of Apostles Center in Alaska.

Samuel has been a permanent resident alien of the United States since 2000 and has served honorably in the United States Air Force Reserves for eight years, from April 27, 2000 till March 28, 2014. He was stationed at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Long Island, New York and thereafter at Dobbins Air Reserve Base in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Jane is a U.S. citizen who resides in Seattle, Washington. I am also a U.S. citizen but I reside principally in Nigeria because I have to care for my ailing mother.

Because I reside principally in Nigeria, practically all of our relatives are in Nigeria and will need a tourist visa that will allow them to gain admission into the U.S. to attend the wedding. The sole purpose of their travel to the U.S. is to attend this wedding, and several nearby hotels in which our relatives will stay for the duration of the wedding have been identified. Please find attached with this letter the list of the relatives and their passport numbers, including the names of the identified hotels in which they will all be staying for the duration of the ceremony. Should you need to reach me for anything, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Funmilola Doe

  The name of every invitee individual must be included in the invitation letter, even if the person is a 1 week old child.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS:
- a letter from your employer granting leave of absence from your job for a specified period. The letter should also say how long you have been employed by that employer, in what job(s) and should indicate when you are expected back at work;
– if you are self-employed, evidence of your business activities and financial standing;
– evidence of any property you own in your home country;
– if you are a student, a letter from your school or college stating which course you are on, its start and finish dates and the dates of the holiday period during which you intend to visit the United Kingdom;
– it will also help if you can show that you have family or social ties and responsibilities to return to;
– evidence of any firm travel plans you have made;
– bank statements going back over a period of several months; and
– evidence of savings available to you.
If you regularly visit the United Kingdom for business you can apply for a multiple-entry visa as a visitor that is valid for two, five or 10 years. For more information on visas contact your nearest embassy or consulate.

Actually, the most important document that supports a visa application is the applicant's bank statement. Importantly, the amount of money in your account (prior to application) is only constitutional, and having more funds above the required limit does not necessarily convince a Visa Officer of your financial credibility; therefore, it won't be making much of a sense to tell you how much money should be in your bank account to aid you visa application.
Also, it won't be a wise move to deposit impressive amount of money into your account as that would mean "money lodgement" which is an automatic ground for visa refusal: your bank account must display evidence of income and transactions (for at least 3 months, and in some cases, 6 months) in order to meet the requirement, and the balance amount must be impressive enough to satisfy the Visa Officer that your intended trip is not going to affect your life savings.
Note: this analysis is intended for people like you who intend to sponsor their own trips themselves.

@poster, vicjustice, thanks but the supporting docs am asking about is that of the person sending the invitation out,i.e the British citizen.thanks
   There is no amount of documents that is too much, so among any other documents (such as evidence of relationship) that s/he would like to add to support your application, these ones listed are compulsory
*Invitation Letter
*Bio data page of Passport or Residence document
*Employment details
*Bank Statement (if taking financial responsibility)
*Accommodation details (must have a room for you)
