Are zoning laws enforced? If not - they are as good as useless. Nairobi has slums - but eventually, they will either be demolished, or the gov will do a slum upgrade.The land don't belong to slumholders. It's just a political hot-potato because slum dwellers votes - while middle class don't.

Slums will not disappear of course as long as poverty is an issue. But they must be contained like in Nairobi. You don't see a new slum cropping up. They are pretty much squeezed in.

It is probably very flared to be honest. And yh it is mainly the west most side of Lagos island that is bad but onion is located on the east side, which I wold say is the best part with freedom park, jk randle centre etc, but still you have to admit we have a long way to go in fully developing Lagos.

if you say Lagos is 60-70% slums then I think you need to give the criteria for slums. if you are saying that Lagos has kibera levels of slums in abundance that's not true. makoko is the place I can best describe as being like that however if an American says we have a lot of slums based on where he is coming from I would agree cos some of the poorest American areas or projects are just like a lot of Lagos neighbourhoods

The difference btw Kenya and Nigeria slums. Nigeria slums are legal. In Kenya they are illegal and constructed with temporary materials - because they will eventually be demolished. They don't have title-deed - and are not expanding. They are established along river beds or public reserve land - so nobody can invest serious money in them.

You don't have to fight that guy. You just threw your country under the bus before the international audience and now, you're trying to defend same. I'd advise you to swallow the remaining pride left in you and ask the Kenyan to help him beg Kenyatta if he could sent some able politicians from his end to help you govern the Lagos you dragged in the mud to stability.
