Obviously they play different roles in their respective teams ; there's no basis for a fair comparison.....But At a point we used to think most Southampton players of that year ( including Mane) were ó my doing well cos they play for a small team. It was only when players like Mane moved to loserpool and proved himself that we believe he is top quality.

My point is you can't just sit and assume Graelish is average because he plays for Villa. Shebi a certain Van Djik became an instant hit at loserpool despite playing in Southampton too. His team was losing more than winning at Southampton. But he shone brighter than some of his colleagues

Tevez was at West Ham before United snapped him, everyone knew Tevez would make any team competitive and not sit on the bench. The players you are mentioning were already heralded to improve any competitive team they moved on to. What peculiar talent/ skill will Grealish add to a Liverpool/ City/ Chelsea/United side, never mind my agbaya's Arsenal?

The Leipzig stuff was clearly a mistake. Only time will tell. Having multiple team jostle for a signature is a good indicator of a player's quality.

VDD is not English so you can't compare him to Grealish in this situation. Also it takes a longer time for a CB to mature than an AM.

We will all be hear when Grealish will make the step up and get sold to a mid tier EPL club after 2 or 3 seasons.

I was quite impressed with him when he played there under Hiddink.

He has strength, pace, height and skill to play there, plus he's very good at dribbling on his left foot in a straight line like Sane, rather than wingers these days who cut inside. Any defensive nous he needs can easily be finetuned.

If you look at most of the best fullbacks like Alphonso Davies et al, they are converted wingers. Kenedy is already a winger that has intermittently played LB for 3 or 4 years now.
