During our volunteer journey, we tend to go through some challenges and when trying to volunteer for another organization, we try to avoid our previous experience.
For me, one thing that has being a challenge is when a volunteer role isn't defined enough and you find myself doing 3-4 different roles of different departments. This tends to drain me and just leaves me overwhelmed and over worked.
So I took a break to analyze, what I needed, delegated tasks and tried to define what my roles and duties are.
So I would love to hear from you! What has been a concern for you? How did you deal with it? Or do you have a problem that you are dealing with now?

Leave your comments on any of these platforms! Let's talk

Do you know you can get a job with no experience?

Wait, working for free? That sounds kind of stupid...

Let's talk about the career benefits of #volunteering. How sharing your free time can help you on the job.

Finding employment after graduation is a daunting task bc of the high unemployment rate in the country. Therefore If you're looking for a job but you don’t have the experience you need and you can’t get experience because you can’t get a job...then volunteering is the SOLUTION!

Volunteering can boost your career in so many ways.

When you volunteer, you share your skills & time with ppl and organizations in the community w/out expecting to be paid

Volunteering can give you a chance to build your experience and skills, & demonstrate your employability.

That's why I tell young professionals and recent graduates to volunteer cos it doesn't only count as work experience but also add value to their resume

Now.. let's talk about 6 WAYS VOLUNTEERING CAN HELP YOU REACH YOUR CAREER GOALS:

#1 Volunteering gives you experience:

Most employers want workers who have workplace experience. Volunteer experience shows employers that you can manage your time and complete your tasks. It also shows that you can get along with others and make a commitment.

#2 Volunteering helps you develop skills:

Volunteering gives you a chance to build on skills u already have & learn new ones. E.g, you might be able to use your 2nd lang or public speaking skills. You could also learn a new computer program or develop new customer service skills

#3 Volunteering expands your network:

Your network is all the people you know and all the people they know. Volunteering gives you the chance to meet new people and expand your network. Keep a list of the contacts you make while volunteering. These include staff, board members, clients, other volunteers and suppliers. You never know who might help you and how.

#4 Volunteering lets you check out an occupation or industry:

When you’re considering choosing a career direction or thinking about a career change, volunteering gives you a chance to explore different occupations & industries. You get to know the people, challenges & rewards involved.

#5 Volunteering builds your confidence:

Maintaining your confidence is especially important if you’ve bn unemployed for a while. It also helps when you are discouraged in your search for a new job or career direction. Volunteering can help you feel active, useful and productive.

#6 Volunteering helps you get to know yourself

Knowing your skills, accomplishments, interests and values is the foundation of career success. Volunteer experience can be a good way to learn more about yourself and your potential to grow and develop.

Volunteering is a win-win situation. By helping others, you have the opportunity to boost not only your career but also your own well-being. When you volunteer in a role that’s right for you, everybody comes out ahead.
