Can You evict a Tenant Because Of This? by tpraiz(m): 6:41pm On Jul 04, 2020 |
Good day Nairalanders. I Recently rented an apartment precisely a month ago. I got a call from the landlady just yesterday threatening to evict me from the compound due to these reasons. Apparently my neighbors reported to her that I play Music too high and it's disturbes the company. To be sincere it's totally true and I love music alot especially this period of covid, am always indoors and I hardly associate even with my neighbors except when they come to borrow something from me, but the way the rooms are built, there's no sound you will make in your room that your neighbours won't hear even if it's sex,so this really amplifies the music I play from my ends. So the question is this. I can't do without Music I can only reduce but not playing at all is a No for me, especially when having sex, the music helps over shadow the whole sex atmosphere. I need legal and street advice, does she have the power to evict me? I'll need some good advice on what actions I should take. Thank very much my good people 2 Likes |

You are causing noise pollution and that's a nuisance, even a miscellany, a misdemeanor. Yes you can be prosecuted and even penalized. 10 Likes |

Reduce the volume to something reasonable. It doesn't have to be totally quiet during the day but the key word is "reasonable". 3 Likes |

Entertain them with moans and groans. They'll beg you to turn back the music on. Legally, she can't evict you because of noise. 3 Likes |

You create noise pollution and could be penalised for that. Why not tune down the music, your rights as a person ends where another person right begin 2 Likes 1 Share |

I would gladly evict you. I hate noise with a passion, most especially these nonsense songs you guys call music. If you insist on playing it, play for your self alone, confine the noise to only your room, don't impose your noise making on others. Just imagine everybody in the house playing music at the highest from their various rooms. 7 Likes |

You can be evicted on that issue. It is referred to as constituting nuisance to other tenants. You can play your music to a bearable decible. Your neighbor can even report you to LASEPA if you are a resident in Lagos. 4 Likes |

Are you sane? Why must you disturb other people with your music? You can still play your music and not disturb others by reducing to room noise 1 Like |

Let's turn the table around, assuming you are sick or just tired and need to rest but one neighbour is found of disturbing you every day. How will you feel? Maybe you don't even understand the language or don't just like the music or just been played on very high volume. How will you feel? 2 Likes |

I had a neighbor who would not let me rest. He kept blaring loud music anytime he is home most especially at night when I am trying to sleep. I work all day, l wake up b4 4.00 and leave 4 work b4 5.00. That was one of the reason I moved out, Loud neighbors. If the neighbors complain about your loud music lower it to a reasonable extent or better get an earpiece |

Have u considered the fact that that music was just for your own consumption and listening ears only.. Why do u think u were doing the neighbours a favour by playing it loud enough for them to listen? Though she can't evict u... She can only give you warning... she can only evict u if u don't know how to read contracts and u signed some junks while moving in ... She may have made use of the money you paid.. especially if it was one year contract or above.. Just try and give the neighbours a bit of peace. It's not too much to ask.. 1 Like |
