Diary of a FTM

Abeg, these our Los, don't they get filled up? I mean, to eat and be satisfied. My baby sucks every now and then and never get tired. Both night and afternoon. Please after breastfeeding and changing diaper, if the baby still cries what can be done? Although she shows signs that she is still hungry even after feeding. Signs like yearning repeatedly or sucking tongue or twisting mouth up and down.

Another issue I have is with my breast. I have an inverted nipple, although one is better than the other. She struggles sucking from the very flat one and cries. It's not comfortable for her at all as the nipple is really inside. I have tried so many things from using hand to pull it to using syringe ( very painful), it didn't work. It will still go back inside after like four suckings. I resolve to be giving her one breast to suck from and then be extracting from the one with very flat nipple. Even while extracting, I realized I get little quantity of milk from it. I guess this also contribute to while she's always crying while sucking from it. Now the issue is, the one she sucks often pains me a lot. The nipple has even turn reddish. Please any cream that I can apply to the nipple to reduce the pain?

Lastly, can new born baby wear light cloth or must it always be overall everytime? I noticed my baby sweats a lots.

Thank you everyone as I awaits your responses and please forgive my long post.

Abeg, these our Los, don't they get filled up? I mean, to eat and be satisfied. My baby sucks every now and then and never get tired. Both night and afternoon. Na their way o cheesy grin
Please after breastfeeding and changing diaper, if the baby still cries what can be done? nothing, just pray she sleeps or carry her around if not continue breastfeeding cheesy Actually, i think the first few weeks is always boring. Its always about breastfeeding and changing diapers undecided

Although she shows signs that she is still hungry even after feeding. Signs like yearning repeatedly or sucking tongue or twisting mouth up and down. She might not be full. Their stomach is small, so they may require frequent feeding in bits meanwhile, I think they usually depend on the breast to console themselves while settling in this new environment

Even while extracting, I realized I get little quantity of milk from it. since she's not sucking on it much it may be reason for the little quantity you getting from it. Why not get nip.ple shield. I heard it works for people with this issue

I guess this also contribute to while she's always crying while sucking from it. Now the issue is, the one she sucks often pains me a lot. The nipple has even turn reddish. Please any cream that I can apply to the nipple to reduce the pain?Sorry, it will get better by the day, you can get lanolin nipp.le cream

Lastly, can new born baby wear light cloth or must it always be overall everytime? I noticed my baby sweats a lots. Not compulsory, Dress your baby according to weather, though sometimes that sweat na scam.

Thank you everyone as I awaits your responses and please forgive my long post.

Plenty coconut oil or any baby hair oil you have. Just apply it generously and comb out the flakes, repeat morning and night. It will clear off eventually.

Apply a generous amount of oil ( I used olive oil), cover the hair with a shower cap for like 10mins, then comb out with a wide comb. It will eventually clear off.

That's baby formula. Sold in the open market or supermarkets, it's about 8k or 9k now.

Biko, my son has been limping since yesterday and there's no remarkable event that I know of that could have led to the limping. I've pressed his legs and he doesn't seem to be in a lot of pain tho a point on his left thigh seems to be a bit painful for him when pressed really hard.

Has this happened to anyone before biko? Is it time to go get an x-ray or should I still watch it?

Zaynie, hunniesuzzie, jazzyjazz, floraec, anyone available

He might have bumped into something or hit his leg, that's what happened in our case. Just massage slightly with Shea butter and see how it goes.

Your baby is hungry, a well fed baby will sleep after sucking. Is baby latching well? Join ask the paediatrician group on Fb, they have videos on how to breastfeed properly. I was in your shoes last year. Had inverted nipple too and it showed me shege. One breast nipple was better than the other too so I give my baby that one then i pump out milk from the other breast. Atimes I pump milk from the 2 breast and this really helped bring out the nipple.

As for breastmilk, watery Pap and a whole tin of evaporated milk will help. Oats and milk and Kunu aya works too. I drink milk and watery pap thrice daily. Eat well, drink water, water, water and take fruits. It took my breast 2 whole months to produce milk well. Just apply sheabutter and clean when you want to breastfeed it'll heal by itself tho. it's normal to have bruised nipple if baby didn't latch well.

Light clothing is good when the weather is hot but this weather is not for light clothings please keep baby warm.

There is a shampoo for it and you can get at shoprite only. Although I used soft brush and coconut oil to get rid of my baby's own back then. I also wash his hair with baby shampoo.

It's very normal.. Pls tell her to calm down and take care of her self and her baby.. Most importantly, she should feed the baby frequently. It will stop as the baby grows.

Thanks a lot ma. O really appreciate this response. Please ma which breast pump did you use that worked for you? I bought Camera new safe breastfeeding pump, it didn't work. I also got nipple shield as suggested by one mama here. It didn't work.
I express with hands from the breast with inverted nipple and give her but I think breast pump will help bring the nipple out.
I will join the group. Thanks once again ma.
