Balogun on loss to Brentford

“It was a tough afternoon. I know a lot of people will blame it on the circumstances that we’re in at the moment, but I felt throughout the week ever since we got this news, that the team spirit was high,”Balogun told the club’s website.

“We just have to face it and be honest that we did not show the Wigan that we’ve worked to be in the past nine games. That was not us today, sometimes you’ve got to put your hand up and admit that.

“Another big game is coming on Wednesday, the first of five very big games.

“At this time I’d like to use this opportunity to take everyone’s minds off that because the reality is that we are not in control of the finances, we are not in control of the administration, that is not our job. Our job is on the pitch and as I said before, we were just not on it 100% today.

“We have had an unbelievable run over the last nine games. We are determined as a group, but we were not able to switch it on like we did in those nine games.”

On the support received this week, Balogun continued:

“We have received a lot of support. I heard before the game from my girlfriend that the fans had raised £60,000 before kick off. I have seen it on Twitter and Instagram and we are all aware of what the fans are doing, it just means now that being collective as a group, as employees of the club, as fans, show that we are one big family and keep the momentum going after today.

“It’s £100,000 in less than 24 hours. It’s very, very touching and at the same time, again, it’s another reason for us all to focus on doing our jobs correctly in the way we have done in the nine games before today.

“The reality is that we are still in a very good position as players, so we should just be focused on doing everything that is within our control and make sure that we give 100%. That’s what the lads are going to do, I know that.

“I can’t speak for anybody, but I know with the things I have felt this week, the staff and the manager have given us some really good speeches. He’s given us the right confidence.

“A lot of the teams in the league will have been happy to see what has happened this week in terms of the league table, but I’m pretty sure they’re wrong. The spirit is really high and this result today is not going to knock that.

“We have two and a half weeks left to go, so it was tough to come off so early. We’re going to assess it and check on it, but it didn’t feel great. I just felt my groin a little. It was a disappointment because when I was on the pitch I thought I could have an impact on the game and lead with my experience from the back.

“I will be looking into options that I have to accelerate the healing process and hopefully get to play my part in some of the matches.

“We’re in this together and I think that’s the most important thing"

The Scottish league isn't competitive at all..

Since 1998 when it was known as Scottish premier league till now that it is Scottish premiership,Celtic and Rangers have won all the titles... Celtics in fact have won the last 9..

Unlike in the case of Germany and France where other clubs can't compete well in Europe, no Scottish club except Celtics and Rangers can do jack shit in Europe...

It becoming more competitive now right now in SPL small team now beat Celtic and Rangers now Hibernian is really coming up it an improvement for me I'll implore you to take time to watch the league they are playing good football ....they are not wack the way you people see them you can see this in aribo's performance in SE yet he is not the best midfielder in Scotland

Someone said In this thread that a 19 years old player should be starting at his club if he is good enough

Just 1 appearance is not good enough

He is highly rated though and i wish him well

Dapo is a prospect IMO not playing at 19 years it not yet a big deal it becomes a big when he is 22 he has paid his due at the U-17 ,U-20 he is coming up

You are the one comparing the two, not me.

You claimed he was crucial to Chelsea wining the league, prompting the simple question you have been evading.

Here is it again - Was the importance of Vicmo to Chelsea winning the league, as a winger or as a wing back?

The bolded isn't a valid argument..
Moses had the privilege of growing up in England, hence he was able to get into an English club academy and start his career there like most of his peers.. The likes or Kalu,Simon, Chukwueze and Onyekuru meanwhile started from the streets and the academy..
They have been able to work their way from the bottom and gradually going to the top..
Look at Simon for example, from Slovakia to Belgium to Spain and now France... Same with Kalu.. Chukwueze from Villarreal B to Villarreal main team and now attracting interest from big teams .. Onyekuru from Qatar to Belgium to Turkey and now France.
These boys may not have done nothing special for super eagles yet,but please don't belittle them... They have what it takes to be better than Moses and all those past wingers you mentioned there..

Just like those past players you mentioned,Moses has played his part for the team.. he helped us win the AFCON, he helped us qualify for the world cup.. He has done well!
Just like Mikel and Enyeama, they should be allowed to enjoy their retirement in peace while we give opportunity to the news boys in the team..

You are right based on the bolded. "They have" but for now, they never reach. That's the point.

Where was Victor Moses born? When did he go to England? Was it not at age 12?

What age was Chuks and Simon when they left the shores of this country to play abroad?

What is the difference?

And the arguement doesn’t stop him from being a winger

There was no space for him as a winger in a team like Chelsea so he has to adapt as a wing back

The koko be say he was crucial in them winning the league and he will still be regarded as a winger/ wingback

Far better indeed.. with those average stats of his?

Why didn't he paint the Turkish league with goals the way Onyekuru did?

Which average stats? When did he join the Turkish league?

He scored 4 goals, had 1 assist and Motm after he joined in the summer.

How many goals and assist did Onyekuru have after he joined the Turkish league in the summer? I am not talking about his full season in the Turkish league.

You are trying to vilify others because they have opinions contrary to yours while you paint yourself like a saint..

Because some people criticised Simon doesn't mean they don't like him...

You often say Chukwueze is overrated...I don't remember people attacking you for that..

In your mind, your criticism of some players is cool a and balanced while that of others is hate..

You once called Chriskels a tribalist because of his criticism of Ighalo.. you also called Joebie a drug dealer because of his criticism of Iwobi..

Continue ...saint Andrew...

Oponu, was the importance of Vicmo to Chelsea winning the league, as a winger or as a wing back?

What did Vicmo win, playing for Wigan and Crystal Palace, until he got signed by an elite club Chelsea where he was surrounded by world class players, hence the medal?

Moses got Wigan relegated, while Chuks single handedly saved Villarreal from relegation in his first season as a pro. Can you beat that? grin
