Okwu agwugo.
Ofe uha is my traditional soup which we use akparata or ukpo or ofo as thickener.
Their argument just surprises me

Not suprised you referred to someone like igboid who has been chasing phatom igbo unity since nairaland was created....and hasn't achieved anything.

Such his ideology doesn't exist and not practicable at all.

Ofe uha indeed....no wonder u guys turns everything upside-down.

There is ugu soup.. I never said that someone invented It . But the truth is that someone stared it

Ora is a soup common with the Anambra folks with biter leaf just like Okazi and Ugba soup is common with Imo folks and Achara common with Abia

Each region has soups just like Edikiakong is an Efik/Ibibio stuff

I love God soups and regions have their soups !

Is this up for debate

Achara is common but not general to Abians. It is exclusive to Ngwa Ukwa and Umuahia areas. From Bende, Ohafia,Abiriba, isuochi, Arochukwu down do not eat it. It is Oha/uha that is their native soup and every compound surely have a tree.Iz it Olugbu that is everywhere?
Isuochi/umunneochi uses Abacha as a welcome gift in their homes. Who are you to say you own it?

We didn't borrow it from Anambra only to throws ours away. Who knew Anambra then? Accept that you need to travel. Stop exposing your folly here!

Seems you are having a personal beef with her? shocked

Have you eaten her Soup before?

How did you arrive at the notion that she can't cook?

THAT soup looks as good as any other OHA soup..

Have you ever seen an OHA soup before? grin

So regaling us about the toilet habits of one stup!d Yeyebrity or the other on Frontpage is better than an educational topic on cookery?

You obviously have an issue with her..

When you hate SOMEONE..

Whatever they do is nonsense to your eyes.. grin
I will say it again, she can't cook. and I've seen better OHA soup than this.

Lol my first post was removed by her moderator boyfriend mynd, I expected that. grin

Dear Poco,
I have been following your thread, and I must commend you for your good cooking knowledge. I have learnt a lot from you, and I try to practice once in a while following your methods step by step. Thank you a lot.

However, I find your submission about Anambra men very disturbing, infact I got irritated at some point, and wondered what Anambra men must have done to you....I know you are very intelligent and understand the danger of reckless generalisation. How can you even say majority of Anambra men are supremacist? I'm from Anambra and I'm not! I have relatives and they are not!
Again, I think you have problem with Igbo Men in general....not just Anambra men..

Poco, I'm sorry to say this, you hate Igbo men!!!
Just see the way you described Abiribia and Ngwa men...

Nne, I still love your threads a lot. But, then I will advice you stop making derogatory comments about Anambra men and other Igbo men... It is disgusting.... Ebonyi people are also talking thrash about Anambra men.... I schooled in Ebonyi State University Abakaliki.... The discrimination I experienced there was way too much, so it's just everywhere.

this is very true, from beginning to end , you just photocopied my mind sir.
Let's leave out our random personal experiences when qualifying a group of people. I'm sure somebody somewhere will have sth bad to say about people from her hometown too.

You are not from Anambra and you will never be an authority in deciding how we make our food. As an outsider , you try be a little humble. Ogili is the soul of Anambra dishes. You can say you dont cook our Anambra dish with ogili and stop right there. Food is part of Anambra culture and we protect even a rotten goat from Anambra.

By the way , why are you hidding your state of origin but quick to call us supremacists ?
You Igbo call your Anambra Igbos money ritualists, illiterates , drug pushers but at every turn you are enjoying and consuming our cultures grin grin grin

can you imagine what a grown ass man is talking online. Ora soup that has been localized in every nook and cranny of Igbo land? stop this pettiness nah. Damn you people. tufiakwa

Sometimes it is better not commenting or you rather read well to understand why such reply cropped up.

It is far much better she put it as this is how my state prepares it than saying ogili is over rated just to justify the eternal poison she cooked...

Nobody is questioning her preference but she is doing just that...

You don't know what you speak of.

I have been to rural Abia and Imo and they all cook Oha and Olugbu soups as native traditional soups.
They never learnt it from Anambra. Abia and Imo don't know what is Ora. What they know is Uha/Oha and all local compounds there traditionally have Oha trees for easy plucking and cooking of the soup.
You can't start speaking on these things when you have never visited these parts. It's insulting and smacks of arrogance.

There are foods perculiar to parts of Igboland. But Oha and Olugbu is not part of it.
As both of them are very universal in Igboland.

Bro reading your comments and I'm glad I'm not the only sane person here. Is it that these are kids online or these adults are just being petty and having fun cos the comments I'm seeing here are just ignorant narrow and worrisome.
Our people need to travel more across Igbo land.
We need to learn about and appreciate everybody from everywhere and drop this Nonsense state-boundary divisions.
I'm from Nando in Omambala , or Mbammili axis as many people call it but I know and appreciate people from Anioma axis, Nri, Orlu, Mbaise, Enugu, Nsukka, Ezza, Ngwa, Ikwerre, Egbema etc, people should appreciate and understand the differences of people in all these regions and banish this state divisions.
Before state divisions, we all were even under one state called Eastern region.

If that's how she likes it, then damn it and leave it to her. Cook your own your way. Besides she is not running a restaurant.
I'm sure you don't cook Ofe nsala the way my people cook it too. Don't be petty man. Pocohantas has the right to cook it anyway it suits her taste, if she opens a restaurant in Onitsha or in Nando my hometown and cooks it without ogiri, nobody will tell her to cook it to standard before she will do so or if it is for a wedding ceremony then you can scold her. But for now, its her personal taste

Trust me there is nothing special in coking this soup.
Just prepare your normal meats and stock fish as usual.
Then mix up all the mentioned ingredients in a pot and cook. No special timing to add any ingredient.
However put the chunky sliced Oha leafs last. Cover your pot to boil for about 5 more minutes.

You can use palm oil but fresh boiled and meshed and sieved palm fruits is better as it servers as the only cooking water apart from the broths from meats.
If you are not comfortable with coco yam as thicker use pounded yam or even dry package puondo powder.
As a Yoruba girl I would suggest you season it with whatever seasoning you use for gbegiri because its almost the same aroma with the Ogiri they are hyping here. Almost like dawawa used by north.

Ogili is different from ogili okpei
Just letting you know.
See the glib way you ruined a soup.
Yam, powder, dawadawa.
It didn’t become a delicacy by being treated shoddily.

I don’t care about the hypes in any soup. I will do that soup in less than 15mins with readily available ingredients and it comes out better any day.
Edikang Ikong takes a whole day to prepare but I do it in 20minute.
I can leave my address here for anyone who cares, to try my soup(s).
